please no flaming not sure if dumb question or not,,,
I have a droid 1 and understand I am in milestone forums..
My problem is i love my droid but want non aosp roms like the motoblur your guys over here have made.. im trying to ask a simple question of can i and how can i install a milestone motoblur rom on my droid? I am extremely willing to learn how to port over as i do understand that the milestones have a locked bootloader and droids do not. If ANYONE can help me with porting i have some knowledge of rom modifying but not enough to port over a gsm locked bootloader rom to a cdma unlocked bootloader phone...
Please please help and yes I understand my crap is old. I just love it and am a lil to poor to go get a new one, so its out of the question for me and i love the build of my hardened MAN-phone

hackers already found a way to put custom roms into droid x (locked bootloader). it's a matter of time before the method being applied to other moto phones since they are almost the same.

Unfortunately, these are not "real" ROMs, as they can't replace the kernel or bootloader. For many people this will be enough, if you just want to remove crapware or install JIT, app2sd etc, but they can't do anything you couldn't already do with root access, they just simplify it.
However, there won't be any Froyo ROM:s until an official Froyo ROM is available.
the theunlockr have root the older XT701

and load a custom rom on the motorola xt701

can we do the same way to XT720 ?
I'm very interested to know if this is true too!

Any Update to his Question???
Hello guys, i recently changed from iPhone 3GS to a milestone, and by far im loving the milestone. For me atleast, a way better device than the 3GS in all the ways except for apps (but i can live without them ) Now ive only had my Milestone for 3 days and am a Complete noob to rooting / or updating. On android central, it says its possible to upgrade your Milestone 2.1 to 2.2 Froyo OTA, but i have no clue how to do this if anyone has done it please can you tell me how to do it step by step in a noob freindly guide, im very noob when it ocmes to milestone. , 2ndly if thats not possible, id like to know how to root the phone (from what i saw on youtube Universal Androot looks the simplest) i want to be able to overclock my milestone to around 800 Mhz , also i wanted to put app2sd so i save space on my rom.
any suggestions let me know, again im a complete noob, any help is greatly appreciated
thanks for looking
I used to be a dev over at the Droid Eris forums and have since, moved on to the Droid 1. Can someone tell me what all I will need to make a Rom for this device since I have been told that "Kitchen" will not work for this device. I assumed it would because it just builds an Android Rom and not a device specific Rom. Any help with this would be great so I can give back to the Droid community. Thanks!
Ok so I guess the "Kitchen" on builds HTC roms. Nice.
Anyone?

Welcome,
You should start searching Android Development section. There are plenty of tutorials, this one is good: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=983516
This is the best tutorial out there (it's for cm7, but the same applies to every rom) http://www.mrmuh.com/2012/01/update-a-motorola-milestone-from-motorola-firmware-to-cyanogenmod-7/
After you've read the tutorial and prepared your phone, look arount in the milestone rom section: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=670
Hint: CM7 is the fastest rom, CM9 is slower but has the advantages of the latest google apps and so on, CM10 is more recent but the slowest.
