Need a good way to transfer ALL contacts, no root. - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I need a good way to transfer all contacts from an old HTC Hero to an HTC Evo 4g (old one) without rooting and not through import/export in contacts app. Preferably a way to do so straight from the Hero to the Evo. Anyone know what to use? I'm doing this for my step dad so I can get his old Hero to root and install custom ROMs on to start my rooting journey.

Are the contacts store directly on the phone? By default contacts are created and store to the google account, so logging into his google account on the evo 4g should bring all his contacts. If not then your best bet is to use bluetooth, and I believe this app will send them all in one shot, which I don't believe you can do with android 2.1.

Switching android versions... want to keep contacts...

ok so i've been using Myn's warm donut and want to switch to the sense 2.1 but dont want to lose all my contacts. any way to switch and keep contacts??
one of the biggest features of Android is that it syncs with the cloud. if your contacts are synced to your google address book, they will automatically be restored. I don't see why they wouldn't be synced, but if you would rather be safe, try logging on to google.com/contacts and make sure your contacts are there.

[Q] Best rom for wifi tether and overclock?

Looking to settle down for a reliable daily rom. Wifi tether and SetCPU Over Clocking are the features I want, but the only one I've tried that does that without crashing is Buffed.
Its one of the best looking but I just learned AOSP's wont work with HTC sync so im contact-less and they also dont have the HTC and Sprint apps.
I love it but apparently most AOSP's don't work with HTC Sync so ive lost my contacts and the release doesnt don't include some sprint and HTC apps.
Suggestions please? Theme and reliability a plus.
Thanks!
Export your contacts from Outlook to a vcard; comma seperated values. Log into your google email account at google.com and import vcard, I would export from outlook to your desktop so its easy to find, once that is done, go to your contacts on your phone and sync them with your google account. the beauty is that they update automatically from that point on and you never have to worry about it again.
SWEET!! This is looking good. Thanks for the advice, I've tried most of current roms /AOSPs and i Really didn't want to leave Buffed, the animations and theme are top notch.
Thanks!

Saving contacts

Hi guis.. i need one thing to ask you..
Is there something that I can do to save contact as backup... but I want to save contacts and pictures on that contacts...
Thanks
Enzo,
simply associate your phone to a Google account and your contacts will be safe even after a ROM flash or a new (Android) phone purchase. No software needed.
Cool eh?
Or, if you really want an app for a local backup, I think that MyBackup is a good app for that.

I'm agree, the best think is synchronize it with google account! If you want you can exported it by gmail, in many format compatible with many app.
Thanks guys

VZW Backup Assistant?

Anyone know where I can find an .apk for Backup Assistant for the Revo? If so, is there any particular trick to re-installing it? Flashed Broken-Out 2.0 on a friends phone not realizing she actually used freaking Backup Assistant. If you're still using that crap on Android, you're doing it wrong.. lol. Anyway, any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

And alternative is to have her log in to the Backup Assistant website and export all of the contacts to a CSV file for Outlook. Then import that into Google's Contacts and don't use Backup Assistant.
I did that. The problem I have now is some redundant contacts and contacts who were in Google only because I was put names to faces in Picasa a while ago.

Transferring Contacts from HTC One X to Motorola Nexus 6

Hi All
I am having a little trouble transferring my contacts from an HTC One X to a Motorola Google Nexus with Marshmellow
I may have to go to third party ROM
But for now there must be an easier way
I backed up my HTC One with HTC Sync Manager so my contact info is probably there somewhere
My HTC One X can backup files to storage/sdcard/xxxxx.vcf (I don't have an SD card)
So far that's all I know
In the dark for now
Thanks

sync contacts with google and sign in using the google accnt on the nexus 6.. in that way ur contacts will be transferred
Update
I found my backed up vdf files in my phones memory
Now how do I transfer that file to the Nexus
To God be
I don't want google controlling my contacts because If I disconnect from google all my contacts disappear

Then copy the file from your old phone to your new one. Then just import the files.
I cant say for sure that the stock android dialer will be bale to read it as I have not used that format in a long time.
I found a real easy fix I used MCbackup to and emailed my phone directory as a vcf file to google loaded my contacts into google contacts.
then synced my new phone to google
Thanks
