Hi, just want to ask simple question.
is it normal to have an "unknown device" error on my win XP. this happen on activating debug enable on my unlock X8 using nAa v.11, current ROM is Xperience SEMC Debrand Engine.
i already installed adb driver and x8 gordons gate, which is working fine on stock kernel, but somehow this error is always popup when i use custom kernel.
Do you have PC Companion installed also?
Sent from my X8 to your screen
not at the moment, but i think it run quite well the gordons gate driver and the semc adb driver on stock rom.
but i noticed when the first time using the custom kernel, it always pop up unknown device on my PC.
just want to ask if its normal or not?
btw Chris95X8, do you have that kind of error "unrecognized device" using alfs kernel? (i see your signature, you using alfs?)
My Win7 has always recognized my phone when mounting the SD card and when enabling debugging for development purposes.
I know that PC Companion installs some required adb drivers.
Maybe it's your Win XP...

i see. oh btw Chris, i already install PC Companion, but... i got "No phone connected", even after following the pc companion step, it stop at step 2 (CONNECT). any idea?
oh ya btw i already follow some instruction on this thread also http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=973263.
thx Chris95X8, you are right its because of the XP
i tried using my laptop (win7), the ADB Driver and Gordon gate working flawlessly, i even can use the x8 toolbox again.
Thanks Man

hey guys.i have only one working pc in the house, and thats my moms pc.i am not actually allowed to be on this pc,but as i cracked the password,im on it over the night (such as right now).so,i did everything through that pc,rooted my phone, unlocked my bootloader, flashed my first kernel...so the problems started when i tried to flash my second kernel.thats nobodyAtall's ics kernel.so i tried, and i had the flash tool all set, gordon's gate drivers and SEMC drivers also installed, antivirus disabled...and i can easly connect my phone to my pc,in debugging mode, everything, except flash mode.yes,my pc doesnt recognize it only in flash f***ing mode.the flashtools from 2.9.1 and above do work with x8,and 2.9.1 doesnt even find it,and 6.7.0 says:''xperia found in flash mode''
and when i try to flash a kernel:''error.kernel installation aborted.''
i have uninstalled and reinstalled flashtool, all drivers, redownloaded all...and nothing worked.at the end i have installed ics kernel on my girlfriends pc,but now i want to go back to gingerbread again, and still nothing.I'VE EVEN WANTED TO REFLASH STOCK KERNEL AND ROM WITH SONY ERICSSON UPDATE SERVICE BUT IT ALSO DIDNT FIND MY PHONE!!!
help guys...you are my last chance...
there is a software named wotan client, try it to restore your phone to stock rom.
Try Flashtool 2.9.1
Flashtool 6.x.x creates problems for me
Tips-
-make sure usb debugging is on
-gordon's gate installed
or-install SEMC drivers manually
How to install semc drivers manually?
Sent from my E15i using Tapatalk
Connect your phone in debugging mode go to device manager (maybe don't remember) in control panel the find the semc device there you can install drivers
Ps try to pull out the battery leave it for a couple of minutes and then connect flash mode

It occured to you to edit the title and put Solved. It didn't occur to you to write up how you solved your issue.
This would be helpful for others in the future with the same issue.

...
Set in compatibility mode for windows XP. If you have the original Windows 7 then you can have problems, too, so I - I went back to XP ... on Win 7 was so that I could connect the phone only once, the second time he did not detect it in flash mode. helped restart the PC.
its okay dude!
my win7 is x64 too..
reinstall all drivers include gordons gates and flashtool driver (C:flashtool\drivers)
dont forget to running the FlashTool64.exe ! not the flashtool.exe
- run as administrator -

My x8 is unlock bootloader with stock rom and kernel, i want to flash custrom but win 7 not showing pop up semc usb flash driver,, mx 8 just charging but pc companion detected. When flash with flash tool showing xperia 2011 line make sure not in mtp mode, i have check usb debuging, unknown source, and flashtool driver too. What should i do?
Sent from my AD683G using xda app-developers app
Actually you dont have to care about the warning "Make sure that Xperia 2011 lineup phones in not connected in MTP mode" as Xperia X8 is a 2010 device. Did you try to flash something to your phone? I think most probably it will work without any problems. If not then did you install GordonGate drivers? If you havent then go to the Flashtools folder and then go to /Drivers folder and install those drivers.
You installed drivers ?
install all driver from my files

Or he can just go in Flashtool-drivers and install it(you have to choose X8 Drivers and Flash Drivers(on bottom))
search on google "semc usb flash driver" and install manually.. or try this, turn of a phone > connect to pc with usb cable > press back. wait till drivers installed on ur pc..

I have deleted your duplicate Q&A thread.
Installing Sony's PC Companion will automatically install ADB drivers.
Just download it from the Sony site and install it, then just connect your phone (while it is on) and the drivers should be installed.
Also FlashTool will also install the proper drivers.
Just remember to reboot your PC after install.
And only have 1 program using ADB open at 1 time.
Meaning that if PC Companion is running, it will interfere with flashtool working. They both connect via ADB and only ONE can be connected.
I hope it helps

just to cover the basics is USB Debugging is checked on the device?
And neither PC Companion or flashtools see the device?
Make sure there are no entries for sony in the usb section of the device manager in windows.
If you find some just right click and uninstall

i did this yesterday.
downgrade to 534 via flashtool with firmware from here. you can do this without unlocking your bootloader. ta partition will be intact. data will be gone however...
then use kingoroot to root your phone (or whatever you like) and backup your ta-partition. for this you need working adb drivers...
i did the trick with this tool. i've installed the tool, the tool has installed the right adb drivers and then i've removed it. working on win 7 64 bit ultimate
after that you can use this procedure to get a rooted 4.3 firmware.
worked fine for me
really thanks for your reply ill try it today
you are really genius you saved ma day
ive been looking for this **** 3 days and the pdanet saved my ass tanks alot
Only use a usb 2.0 port!
ONLY USE A USB 2.0 PORT - Then start Sony PC Companion and connect your phone just for anyone who like me has just stumbled upon this thread in an attempt to get ADB installed, I just found this to work.
Hey XDA.
For long i have been trying to get a custom ROM for my android, but to be able to do that, i need to unlock bootloarders for my device.
I have been trying for a couple of months now, and everytime i try, i hope that it will work this time... but i always end up quitting, because i always encounter some problem, i cant seem to resovle.
I was wondering if anyone would like to help me through, step by step, until it actually works.
This is what i have tried
- I have entered the system configurator, and it says yes to that my device can be unlocked.
- I have enabled all the developer options descirbed everywhere
- I have downloaded the Android SDK, with the google USB drivers.
- I have gotten my unlock-code from Sony
But everytime i try to follow the steps from Sony, I get an error when coming to install the drivers.
The tutorial says, that when i plug the usb-cable to my computer, i would be prompted to install some drivers... I dont, it automaticly installs something called "S1Boot Fastboot".
Then i enter my device-manager, finds the device, and updates drivers manually from my computer.
But when i point to the downloaded drivers, i get this error:
Windows found a driver-software for your device, but encountered an error while trying to install it.
Windows ADB Interface
The hash for the file is not present in the specified catalogue file. The file is probably corrupt or has been tampered with.
The files i have downloaded are all those Sony told me to download, from the official distributors... I got no idea how to solve this issue!!
Can anybody please help to fix this issue, or guide me through another way that works?
I have given up trying...
Download flashtool, and instal drivers from his directory (flashtool and fastboot) drivers.
Also instal PC Companion, but restart pc after instal (PC Companion also installs drivers)
Also, you might turn of driver signature checking if you are on windows 8.1, google it.

I agree with this. I just did it the other day.
I'm using a Win 8.1 laptop and it was driving me mad. I followed the information regarding changing some of my start up settings on the laptop and flashtool installation of drivers worked. Follow this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1913245&page=6
In my case i had Flashtool installed, but when i went to install the drivers for my z1 , the windows installer would always fail. After using the information on that page I Linked, it worked straight away!
Good luck .
Thanks alot!
Thank you very much guys, that was just what i missed!
Glad you finally got it!
