I have bell mobility HD7.
To install custom rom, I have downgraded Bootloader from 4.xx to 2.xx version (Bell).
At the same time, I think Radio Rom must have changed as well.
Anyways, I have successfully installed custom rom on my HD7 but reception is not very good.
If I flash radio rom to another, will this affect my phone in way?
If anyone else can point me to list of Bell Radio rom, that would be tremendously helpful.
Thanks in advance.
When I flashed my rom Deepshinig V7.6 my reception was bad too, First try and run your HTC connection setup app and that will configure you setting and give you better reception, that worked just fine for my devise! if that doesn't work yes you can flash a different radio any of them should be fine to flash!

Hi,
I've flashed my Vario with the Qtek update that has Exchange push. The thing is have I done the right thing, I just unlocked it and CID and then flashed it.
Having read the forums a bit it seems i should have preserved the T-Mobile radio update somehow and whatever else? How can I do this and also can someone direct me to the last release of the T-Mobile update as they have withdrawn it from the Website but if I just need the radio out of the ROM then it should not be a problem.
Please advise!!!
i dont understand why you need radio from t-bomile
I read that it has a newer radio version. From reading what other people have done it seems they've used the Qtek ROM but kept other aspects using a thing called aWizard which i havent.
You can run just about any ROM/Radio ROM mixture you want. I’m not sure what you’re worried about? Are you actually experiencing a problem? You didn’t mention that the device was running abnormally. If you have read of others using a diff Radio ROM it’s not because that’s what you’re “supposed” to do but rather others feeling that they get better results by using diff versions.
For instance, I have the latest test ROM on my 9100 and the radio signal was crap with the 1.13.x radio ROM so I downgraded to the previous qtek version. Then just for ****s & giggles I loaded the latest Cingular radio ROM and have found that this combination works best for me. My service is through Tmobile and I have not had a problem running any ROM or radio ROM just some work better than others FOR ME. It’s up to you to decide which combination you like best.
Hope that helps.
I like that... I need to remember this one "for ****s and giggles".
I just flashed my Diamond with the: RUU_Diamond_HTC_NOR_2.03.409.1_Radio_Signed_Diamond_52.51.25.26_1.09.25.23_Ship.exe
I'm an norwegian that's in the US studying, so they only gave me the norwegian version. Anyways, everything worked fine until flash, but now my phone refuses to register on the network (AT&T)!
Took the sim-card back to the at&t nokia phone, worked the first time...
I really wants to use my Diamond instead of the crappy nokia, but it would be a shame to downgrade to 1.93 (which worked just fine...).
Someone, please have a solution for me?
simply install a new radio....try 1.00.25.07 that seems to be the only quadband radio..
(you have to flash an hspl before)
It's stuck on 0% and won't continue... Tried several roms :-/
no service?????
is there a soution to this no network problem
THERE IS A CROSS IN THE RECEPTION BAR AND WHEN YOU DIAL OUT IT SAYS "OPERATION FAILED"
any replies appreciated
Quite bad if the official RUU more or less bricks the device, at least turns into just a little computer
It screwed up my Diamond aswell The gprs is completely dead, been up all night trying to fix it, several hard resets etc, nothing helps... if it was a cooked rom I could tolerate it but official roms screwing up our phones this easily pisses me off.
Mine worked again, with the old 1.93 rom!!
What the hell did they do to 2.03? I suppose the radio rom is different at least... But I couldn't change to the old radio when I had 2.03, tried using the HardSpl...
Is it possible to flash _once_ with everything from 2.03, but the 1.00.25.05 radio (which is the one from 1.93)? Doing it sequentually doesn't work.
So what I did, as the final solution:
Flash with stock 2.03 rom
HardSPL
Flash with 1.05.25 radio
Works perfect!
Hmm i did the other way round with my o2 XDA Diamond (1.93 Stock)
1. Hard SPL
2. New Radio Rom (1.09.25.23)
3. 2.03 official Ger HTC Rom (without vendor lock)
works great as well
I've seen this issue a couple of times too. With 1.93 as well as with 2.03. Did not figure out what was the cause but never had a chance to bring the device back to life with some uninstallation or radio flash. I always went back to the SPB Backup from the night before it stopped working propperly.
Hi all,
something goes wrong after flashed 1.56.70.11 on my phone, after logged into wm, there is no signal at all!!
I tried to downgrade to offical at&t firmware (GSM and ROM) but not work.
also tried to unlock radio by using cheetahunlocker, but athena unlocker always hangs at the last step.
anyone encountered similiar issue or know how to fix it?
ps. I have hard spl installed.
thank you!
==================Update 5/8 ==============
it looks like I flashed a corrupted radio firmware.... sigh...
even if I re-flash a correct radio firmware, it won't get back to work.
I am now going to send my treo back to repair
I encountered the similiar issue, I tried serveral ways to downgrade the radio including using mtty, but all did not work.
It's very neccessary to find a way to downgrade the radio to lower edition.
Bought an HD, flashed HSPL, flashed Dutty R14, hard reset twice. Everything works perfectly except phone freezes every time I try to answer an incoming call. So I flashed 3 other roms and had the same problem with all of them. Then I flashed the stock Telstra rom and it works perfectly, I can answer calls and everything is fine.
I thought it was a problem with my phone so I bought a brand new HD and flashed the HSPL then the R14 rom and I have the same problem where I can't answer calls. There's no way it's a problem with the phone itself since it's brand new and I've had this problem on 2 separate phones. It's also hard to believe that every single rom here has a problem where you can't answer calls, or that R14 is so bad that it screws up something internally as soon as you install it.
What's going on?
This same thing happened to me - had to get a new SIM card from my cell phone provider. Some older SIM cards cause this - not sure why?

You got to be kidding. If it works perfect with stock rom, your phone is good in quality.
You should try updating the Radio as well.

Yeah my card is at least a few years old (still says Cingular instead of AT&T) so I'll try getting a new one and see if it works.

What radio would you suggest? 1.14.25.24 is supposed to be the best one for my area (inner-city Houston/Austin, TX in the US) and that's what I've been using. It's the same one that comes with the stock rom that worked.
rpimps, I'm a bit north of you in OK, and 1.13.25.24 is what I've used for some time with great batt life and reception and got the same while in Houston not long ago.
I've got the Telstra, but the stock rom I flash before cooked is always the European 1.56, which I downloaded from the HTC Europe website. It comes with 1.13.

I got a new sim and it still does it. Also I'm using the same radio that I used with the stock rom, and the stock rom worked fine, so I doubt the radio is the problem. I think the HD just isn't capable of running these roms.
Is your model a BLAC100?
Also, what language did you use?
Could it be the problem of non-English characters?

How do you check if it's a BLAC100? All I know is it's an 8285. The only language I use is English.
Why don't you try another rom, there's a lot of rom's here.

So hardware of your HD is OK. Nothing wrong with device.
As Sean3 wrote, try to flash WM 6.1 European 1.56, links are on HD Wiki...
If it works too, then it's some conflict between cooked ROMs and your device.

It works fine with the stock rom, but it doesn't work with ANY other rom. That's what's so weird.
Totally wild question: Are you sure you have UNLOCKED device?
Altough, I have no idea does that matter at all...
Just 2 throw in my 2 cents and a quick recap:
1. You flashed HSPL - Was this successful? What is your SPL? Did you use correct HSPL? Did you follow this guide?
2. You then flashed rom and everything worked but phone freezed everytime you tried to answer a call - Have you tried another radio?
3. There is no reason why your device wouldn't be able to use cooked roms if you have successfully unlocked it by using either USPL or HSPL
4. You say you have returned to stock rom - Did you return to original stock rom, i.e. rom which was on your device when you got it. Did you also return to stock SPL? Was this 100% successful?

Yes it's unlocked. It does answer calls SOMETIMES and it always makes outgoing calls successfully.

1. HSPL flash was successful, I used this guide - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3930436&postcount=2 - and flashed it to 1.56 olinex.
2. I tried 2 radios, 1.14 and 1.17.
3. I flashed the stock Telstra rom but kept the 1.56 olinex SPL. Was successful, and phone works perfectly with this rom. I also tried another wm6.1 rom (dutty 3.9xt) to see if there was a problem with it running 6.5 but the 6.1 rom had the same problem.
Is your device not SIM locked? Can you insert another SIM into the device, try one of your mates SIMs

Tried that, it has the same problem, outgoing calls are fine but incoming calls freeze sometimes.
The device is an unlocked Telstra and I'm using it with AT&T in the US.
I am currently using on my HTC TYTN 2
ROM: 3.34.721.2 WWE
Date : 09/30/08
Radio: 1.70.19.09
But I am getting reception problems "No Network" I have since found out this version of radio rom does not have manual slection between 3G and GSM network bands. I am currently on Vodafone. I have downloaded the original Vodafone Rom ver v1615_3.28.161.1. Can I re-flash my phone with this one?. The phone is already CID unlocked.

Hardspl your device and you can flash any rom you want Click under my signature (TyTNII) and read how to do it and other interesting things that you should know (wiki).
If that is a wm6/6.1 rom then that radio isn't a recommended one for those versions of windows. Check the radio thread in the stickies for more info.
Instead of reflashing an older rom, why not just try flashing the original radio first ? See if that work out better.
1.65.16.25
Thansk for everyones help I have flashed 1.65.16.25 radio rom onto my device

Did it work?
Rom upgrade went fine thanks, used the Sd card method.
The signal was fine on the first day. Signal lock is better at home, I still got the no service when I drive through the same streach of road. Battery drain marginally more 1% than the previous rom.
Everything was fine for 1 day. Then overnight it went into no service and would got get a signal . I had to perform a hard rest. Signal returned so far. I will report how I get on.
I see it is teh sam radio rom as the Vodafone uk version. Unless it is a compatibility issue with my HTC rom.

I think you should try different radios and see which of them work better, good luck
