What is smooth UI - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

In the semaphore manager, what does smooth ui do?

This is not a Q/A section. asked the questions in appropriate section.

Use search dammit.

wrong section

I'm sure someone who read/replied to this post knew the answer.
Talk about a lazy/bad community.
(sorry, I don't use that app/kernel so I don't know the answer)

With Smooth UI the cpu goes to max frequency when you touch the screen. It helps for more smooth user interface.

what is the effect of misc battery tweak?
I just enable this in CWM
The effect is that it causes users to post questions in development thread even though a q/a thread exists.
It cause your brain not enable to use search function in forums.

Pffff !
Great answer. Hope your others posts are more useful to android noobs than this one !
You're probably joking. A smiley would surely have softened your not so kind comment
maybe you should try the hardcore's speedmod-thread's faq...
Hmmm, be polite.
Guys, at least try to act like you're not just trying to increase your post count.
For instance, post a link to where "hardcore's faq" is. Also, not everyone reads the forums every hour to know who the hell hardcore is or where his FAQ is. Also, unless it says |OP| next to your name don't worry about chiding all the n00bs.
Really? If your using Misc Tweaks then your using something from Hardcore, if your not using Hardcores kernel then the dev of the kernel you are using "usually" post this in their first post using Hardcores Speedmod patch, its not that hard to search for either ...the link is in hardcores thread in his first post, theres even a thread of it own about this, try searching startup speed tweaks....

Many of you give XDA a bad name. "Many" includes noobs who don't search before asking a question and other "many" of you are the ones who boss around arrogantly and flaming the other "many". All of you had time to flame each other but no on could really close this thread by answering the query.
To OP, here is your answer http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=813309
More specifically, "# Miscellaneous tweaks
Increase the write flush timeouts to save some battery life."
Wow there are people who don't know who hardcore is ? Man if you got a SGS than you NEED to know this! I mean a little bit basic information is not bad

Strange stuff for me:
If I enable this 'Misc battery weaks', auto brightness stops working, disabling it makes it work again.
In the thread mentioned it only says: 'Increase the write flush timeouts to save some battery life.'
It is even a little worse, for instance in Quick Settings app I cannot even change brightness manually (has no effect) if I have that tweak enabled.
Can anyone confirm this?

Over Clock on Glitch Kernel

Can someone tell me how to over clock with v14 B6 just where to set things at?

There is an app called "pimp my cpu" (I believe it's in the market) that will allow you to easily overclock the Glitch kernel. Might want to give that whirl.

I got it but the interface is confusing I kinda wanna one click thing lol

I don't have it on my phone right now, but I believe all you have to do is open the app, pick a maximum cpu frequency (e.g. 1400 MHz) and long-click on it. It will pop up "set as max", and when you click that, it will put that as your max speed until you reboot.
If you want to go farther than that, you can create profiles that will load on startup, and tweak the undervoltage settings, but for a simple overclocking, you're actually in a good place with PMC.
The best one for glitch kernel is the nstools

You're supposed to use NStools for glitch. I can't really tell you what's best for your phone though

glitch kernel POST 1 tells you what to use. if you didnt read that, i dont expect that you searched and read the MANY guides on xda on how to overclock. so im not going to tell you.,

I got NStools as soon as I flashed the rom , just want more directions to do it, don't think I didn't read or look around, I'm not new to flashing but I'm new to overclocking, just wanted clarified directions on what to click in nstools, to lets say over clock to 1.2 ghz

There is a over clocking guide in post 1 of the glitch thread also.

Yes, it specifically addresses live OC. A simple google search on overclocking will help too

Hellybean Q&A

mods, can we please sticky this thread
unless another thread already exists that would be more appropriate
since hellybean seems to be a pretty popular rom
some issues might be better addressed here rather than the dev forum
and this is easier for folks to post
particularly noobs etc
thanks
I wonder if anyone experiences sluggish performance with Facebook and Swype. Other than that, this rom is very stable and smooth.

[Q] In search of a Gingerbread ROM

Hello, community
I've got a Galaxy S and I'm running 4.1.2 Jellybean. I'm thinking of going back to Gingerbread and I'm wondering if you have any links to a good and stable GB ROM with very good battery life? that would be great. Preferably one that takes skins and looks like ICS or JB.
Thank you, :good:
Personally I find Mandana rom to be very satisfying in terms of speed, battery and stability. Haven't had once single random reboot of fc since flashing it 1 month ago.

Why do you want to go back? I see no reason to it, cause battery is much better than on gingerbread, cause Cm10 can use gpu to render the ui, so CPU is not at full frequency all the time, it can rest while gpu is working hard
One more reason to stay at Cm10 the compatibility, cause a few apps now only support ice cream sandwich and higher

Or u could have posted this bug in the rom thread :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2000828
If there were no rules I could have said profanities but I can't. The q&a thread is so obvious now. Its at the first page and right at the top of the development forum
EDIT: Your problems are not even urgent or important. And this is not even a bug, its just that cm10 doesn't have the option to lower the intensity. If you want to lower it badly, go flash shadowrom or any other ROM that supports it.
my friend running cm10 does have the option ...its just that he has a galaxy s not a s plus ...maybe you meant this but ok im sry for posting in wrong forum
