How to show my number? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Sorry guys if I had to ask this - -
How do you show your own number under SETTINGS in STATUS.
It shows number is UNKNOWN?
TY

Maybe I am wrong.... But as per my knowledge Number is stored in SIM CARD by operator. You need to ask your operator for a simple sms update. Or replace the SIM card for new one completely programmed SIM.

opps didnt read it all... sorry

Wiht the HTC Desire I was able to change but with the Note I don't know how to do it.

Ty guys. Anyone else can share info on this?

This thread is of interest to me too. My original sim card shows my number but I also have an HU sim card that I use when I’m over there. That never shows the number of sim card even though I get plenty of messages from Vodafone HU.
So if anyone knows please share.
Regards,

I found it, it was soo damn easy.
Press on the phone in the launcher, when on the numpad you got three little dots right below the screen, Choose it, Choose settings, Go to extra or additional settins and add your number.

Hello decat, could you please explain this in detail? Upon touching Phone > Keypad tab on my screen, I get the dialer (numpad) but I do not see any three little dots.
Is it possible to depict this via stepwise screenshots?
Thank you for addressing this issue.

Well, I'll try, mine is in dutch.
I went to this screen, see the three dots below right, push on it and choose settings

Then you'll arrive in this menu (see below), in this menu you can choose 'additional settings' or something like that, it's the third in the screen from below (seems not to be visible on the screenshot though), when you choose this you'll get to another menu where you can choose 'my phonenumber'

What strange dialpad. And statusbar is at the bottom. No wonder I did not find same settings.
Is it really a Note?

Oproepinstelligen = Call setting
vaste nummers = fixed dial
snelle reacties = fast dialling
trillen = vibration
so it is almost like our call setting
I think attached picture is from some custom ROM with modified phone.apk
stock ROM have different call setting

I'm on Paranoid Android, but I think it should be possible with other roms too.

Oh, how I wish people would put such information as to what ROM they are using. So many times I see a tip and think, now that is fantastic, only to find out on the millionth post that it’s irrelevant to my ROM.
So come on guys, if you have a good tip, please post what ROM you’re on as well.

[Q] How to add additional options to CM10.1?

I'm using this CM10.1 version here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2104442
It works great, fast, not buggy, but it's missing a lot of features that I enjoy from custom made roms, for example, there are no "Development" sections in the settings, which allow setting the CPU speed / governor etc, there is also a lot of other various tweaks that I can't think of right now that just don't exist, where do these things come from? I'm pretty sure I can figure out how to add them myself, I just don't really know where they all come from, like the "Spare Parts" / "Dev Tools" icons in a lot of roms that have various extra customization options.
Also, one thing that bugs me is whenever I plug the USB cable in to charge, the USB connection window pops up, any idea how I would go about changing that so it *doesn't* do that? I have an app that lets me access and edit the root files so if there's something in there I can change to modify that, that would be great too.
Apologies if this is a lot to ask but once I get started I think I can handle the rest on my own I just need to be pointed in the right directions for some things.

Wow thanks.. had no idea. This opened up a lot of options. Like for example killing applications via holding back button, I was wondering how to add that, but it's in the developer options.
One last thing I would like to know how to change, when my phone boots, about 2 seconds after the lock screen appears, the screen turns off, how can I change it to wait longer on the lock screen before turning off? Is there a file somewhere I can edit the timeout delay?
I was wondering if anyone knew how to get haptic feedback on the menu and back buttons?
AW: [Q] How to add additional options to CM10.1?
I think that you can not enable haptic feedback.

Go to developers settings and in the bottom there is an option for this..
How about the option to display this if there are no notifications? So you don't have to have the extra button press in the top right corner to show it all. Makes sense to me...

Lock Options (Lock and Trick)

Hi Guys,
Got an intention for having an extra feature in Android !!
I am not an expert developer, so wanted to let you guys decide if its good or bad
In Android we have different types of lockscreen(security) options, if we can have another option which would show as: Lock and Trick ; as in the image attachment.
View attachment 2904833
Assumptions: you use PIN/password to lock/unlock
what this would do is:
whenever you choose this option and lock the screen, and if next time someone tries to enter in the passcode/password it would check the password as it checks and would inform that one of the digits that he/she entered is right (trick), and he/she should try the other 3 digits.
We can have an option were we can select any digit to trick the person meaning for eg., I would configure it such that it would show up that "the 3rd and 4th digit is right please try the other two" and the person would actually be tricked. Provided we would need some maths in senerios where the digits are actually right !!
Lastly, can we also have the same thing for pattern ??:good:

 sorry that's a useless feature
It would be much better if you had to enter the current time displayed on your phone. How many of you wondered what time is it and then unlocked your phone to go text or look something up forgetting completely to look at the time?

Hi ,
I am not taking about any security controls/new-methods !! YES i am suggesting a useless feature which can save your phone some time if its stolen.
Its not for security, it should be used to trick people believing that they know some digits of your password !!
Anyways thanks !!
Does anyone know how to get the gesture unlock security not the pattern one?
isn't gesture unlock a generic rom feature liquid smooth has it as I'm using it

[Q] Downloading Widgets Nexus 6 troubleshoot

Hi everyone, I have the AT&T Nexus 6 and I have tried downloading widgets from the Play Store but none of them shows in the widget drawer when I try to add one to my home screen. I have read reviews and forums saying that the apps/widgets need to be moved from the SD card to the device itself. The problem is that the nexus device does not even have an SD card slot so that option is not available. Can someone please help me ,is there an option to enable the widgets function without rooting? Thanks so much in advance.

I was informed by another member here that restarting system UI an accomplish the same thing without reboot. Just FYI.
How do I restart the system UI on Nexus 6? Sorry if I'm asking simple questions...I had a note 2 for almost 3 years so since switching to Nexus is a whole new experience...seems like I have to reboot every time after I install or uninstall an app for it to show/not show in my apps drawer.

Yes, I just searched everything under Developer Options and did not see anything about restarting the UI. There has to be another way other than rebooting which is very inconvenient. I wonder if anyone else is having this issue.

I just received my Note5 earlier today, and everything is Ok, except for the fact that I can't find the scroll capture option! Does anyone have a fix?
Sent from my SM-N920I using Tapatalk
To take a scrolling screenshot or scroll capture on the Note 5:
Open the content you wish to take a scrolling screenshot of.
Take out the S Pen to launch Air Command, tap on Screen Write.
The screen will flash and capture a single screenshot, then press Scroll capture in the bottom-left corner.
The screen will scroll, and you can select Capture more to keep going, or Done to stop.
Once you've captured everything, tap Share, Save in Gallery or Save in Scrapbook at the bottom of the screen.

If you changed the theme of the device the scroll capture goes away. I beleive it has to be on the default theme.
Bruh..... If you are going to post about an issue, post the screenshot of your actual problem.
It also only shows up on apps that scroll downward, such as a Web page on Chrome or the Settings menu.
And no, it does not remove the option based on your theme! If you are going to provide help, know what your talking about. If you don't know your stuff, GTFO and move on to the next thread. Dont post help about something you know nothing about.

Finally appeared after clearing the cache. Strange bug.
I'm having the same bug but I can't seem to fix it. I tried clearing the cache for air command but no change. Any suggestions?
Needed to necro this thread because I had the same issue of scroll capture not popping up. Solidmarc111 was right, you have to be on the default theme. I was on the material theme. Cleared air command cache and it didn't do anything. Changed theme back to default and works perfectly. Also wanted to say leo9891 is a fool for calling someone out so rudely when he is the one that "doesn't know his stuff." That is all.

Sorry man I just tested it, I am on ShineBlack theme NOT default and it works just fine for me, maybe your theme (material) removes it for some reason but this is not a problem with the theme I am using. So, NO you do NOT have to be on default theme. Seems leo9891 is not a fool after all, maybe test multiple themes before you comment?
Lol thanks for more data but Leo is still a fool since he said themes didn't matter and called the person out for it. With my phone I proved him wrong, therefore his rude comment was foolish. I had no need to test multiple themes to prove his statement was rude and foolish. It only had to effect one theme, which it did. Have a nice day though
I had the same problem. Had to reboot phone into manual mode then wipe cache partition. Now it's working fine for me.

Wake screen on notification disable

Hello all,
I have noticed that since the last FW update (C432) I cannot locate a setting any longer to disable "wake screen on notification".
I went through each menu item in an attempt to disable it.
Anyone have an idea where this setting has gotten to so I can turn this wake scree off?

Ok.. Figured it out. I had to force stop "themes" and disable. Then reboot and the menu item returned. It was reproducible as well. If I enabled themes and set a different theme, the menu item was gone.
