Lock Options (Lock and Trick) - Nexus 4 General

Hi Guys,
Got an intention for having an extra feature in Android !!
I am not an expert developer, so wanted to let you guys decide if its good or bad
In Android we have different types of lockscreen(security) options, if we can have another option which would show as: Lock and Trick ; as in the image attachment.
View attachment 2904833
Assumptions: you use PIN/password to lock/unlock
what this would do is:
whenever you choose this option and lock the screen, and if next time someone tries to enter in the passcode/password it would check the password as it checks and would inform that one of the digits that he/she entered is right (trick), and he/she should try the other 3 digits.
We can have an option were we can select any digit to trick the person meaning for eg., I would configure it such that it would show up that "the 3rd and 4th digit is right please try the other two" and the person would actually be tricked. Provided we would need some maths in senerios where the digits are actually right !!:laugh:
Lastly,can we also have the same thing for pattern ??:good:

:thumbdown: sorry that's a useless feature
It would be much better if you had to enter the current time displayed on your phone. How many of you wondered what time is it and then unlocked your phone to go text or look something up forgetting completely to look at the time?

Hi ,
I am not taking about any security controls/new-methods !! YES i am suggesting a useless feature which can save your phone some time if its stolen.
Its not for security, it should be used to trick people believing that they know some digits of your password !!:angel:
Anyways thanks !!

Does anyone know how to get the gesture unlock security not the pattern one?

isn't gesture unlock a generic rom feature liquid smooth has it as I'm using it

I think the best lock option is a pin code. Slide pattern can be discovered

You mean like being able to press and hold the number 2 and have it dial your girlfriend type of thing? If that's the case and you're using the HTCTouch pad, just press down while you're in the pad.

I am sorry for being so unclear. I usually use calling cards to call my home country. In order to do that i have to dial a access number, a pin number and then the long distance phone number. I had an older Nokia 6019i. In that phone
i use to have my dads phone number stored as....
xxx(calling card pin)xxx(long distance number).
I mean all those numbers i use to store in the number field of the phone book entry. Then i just use to call the access number. Select call options from the Nokia call menu. Then select "send touch tones". Search for the phone number as you would do in any phonebook. Select the number and press send. It would send all those numbers as tones.. as if i was dialing them...but much much faster.
Hope that clears it up or messes up the question even further
I found this in a quick search. May it can help you.

This new version, which is in BETA, works on Windows Mobile 2003 and Windows Mobile 5.0 devices. It is resolution aware, so it will work fine on QVGA and Landscape screens.

Seems to be a little nicer than the other one.
Hey duprade,
Thanks for all the info man. Will try both of them. Its a pity that such a feature which is natively available on lower end devices, is not there on a WM device. But thanks again, those applications will definitely fit my purpose.

So this isn't really a "Diamond" application, but this is the only forum I post in, and I wanted to share this so maybe other people can find it useful.
While I was checking out of the grocery store tonight, I realized I had left my "preferred savings" card in my car's glove compartment as usual. Naturally, my train of thought derailed into Windows Mobile development and how I could make my life easier. The answer was simple: why can't I save all my card bar codes on my Windows Mobile Device and have the cashier scan the image from my cell phone? It would save wallet space and be really cool to boot!
So obviously, I came home and whipped up a program to do just that. Any cards that you scan with a bar code reader can now easily be imported and stored on your phone!
Click here to read more about the Bar Code Manager and the Bar Code API.
does this work,
I thought due the the polarised nature of LCD screens they would be unreadable by most barcode readers!
I hope so! I'm going to check tomorrow when I head into the office. We have a couple bar code readers laying around.
Good idea! Unfortunately, most bar code readers won't read backlit displays
Glad you boys mentioned this!
Ive beennn doing this ever since my Nokia 7710. I caried my "ID" on my 7710. When ever I was asked fo ID i just pulled put my 7710.
Sooo yes this can be done on any Barcode-ID app.
Boys time to leave that ID home!
They wont even know the Difference with that GORGEous VGA Screen!!!!
Cheers Bradas!!!
This doesnt seem to work with my norwegian bar codes, dunno if we use another standard than you, or not.
2912340005882
157100395
2 983061310951
When entering these i get a NullReferenceException in RefreshBarCode()
WindowsLessControls.StandardBitmap.get_Width()
Weird, the first and the third number worked for me (try redownloading the CAB). The program really only supports 12 digit bar codes though (UPC). I haven't written in support for other formats yet (Code 39, etc).

Doesn't seem to want to work with my cooked ROM. I get 'An unexpected error has occurred in WMBarCode.exe. Select Quit and then restart this program.'
And when I restart, I get the screen in the image.
Anyone else confirm this?
A nice next step would be to scan the barcodes with the onboard camera.

I have the SAME problem as this. Running Tilt 2 with 6.5 stock rom
Does this require anything other than the cab for download at the link?
says "Download the Bar Code Manager and API here"
What is the API? I REALLY want to use this app
I have installed this and typed the number from a store card. Where do I type the name for the card? After typing in the number in the one edit box the barcode, on screen, does not resemble the barcode on the card. If I type any text in the edit box I get "An unexpected error has occured in WMBaeCode.exe" NullReferenceException
Help!
Same stuff happening here on ever rom ive tried. I really want sometihng like this
Can someone post a mirror? The website linked is not working.
Do you think you can provide a slightly better tutorial on how to set up your cards. I can't get any of mine to work, and not all grocery store cards are 12 digits. Any way you can add support for those?
Great program, I've been using it for a long time now and I don't know if there's any development on this, but it would be great for it to support 2D codes too. Thanks

HELP! Key Lock not working after enabeling device password

Having gotten no help from HTC im posting this here (previously sent as a support request to HTC)
Afther having set a device password (Settings > Personel > Lock) I'm unable to enable the Key Lock. I checked the following settings:
- Settings, Long Press End Key is set to Automatically Execute: Lock Device
- Settings, Key Lock is set to Lock all buttons except Power button.
I get no error messages, the only thing I see when holding the End Key is a short flicker of the screen, after which the Home Screen comes up. Do note that the keys are not appropriately locked.
ROM version installed is latest HTC original ROM:
_HTC Touch Diamond_MR_RUU_Diamond_HTC_NOR_2.03.409.1_Radio_Signed_Diamond_52.51.25.26_1.09.25.23_Ship
So far all i have gotten from HTC is the following response:
Dear Sir/Madame, Thank you for contacting HTC Europe. We can confirm that this is a feature on the Touch HD. It might change in future updates, but at the moment the setting cannot be changed. We hope this will answer you question but feel free to contact us again. Best Regards, Alex Nyberg HTC Europe www.europe.htc.com

Don't know if it's just an automated respons or they just can't be bothered to give a sane message.
1) Why are they refering to Touch HD when I clearly stated that it was the Diamond i was refering to
2) They can't seriously expect anybody to belive that it works as intended and you aren't supposed to be able to lock you phone when you have set up a device password
Does anybody have a fix or any experience with how to get though to HTC?
Hi,
Take a look at this topic and post #108, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=473457&page=11
FormerPalmOS said:
This changed in SYS version 20954. It's not a bug - Microsoft decided we wanted it this way. LongEndKeyPress just simulates a keypress of F22. F22 used to call the KeyLock. With 20954 it changes to call DeviceLock if a PIN is set, KeyLock if not.
Search for and use TouchLockPro for screen locking. If not using TF3D, the today screen lock plug-in works as you would expect. LongEndKeyPress will always be broken.

Sounds really odd, but I got what I wanted with TouchLockPro software.
Touch HD is having the same "issue" and maybe that explains HTC supports reply.
Thanks Meiz, that actualy made a stange kind of sence. Couldn't help my self probing HTC a bit more so i replied to their original answer with:
Are you really telling me that im not supposed to be able to use the Lock Device function when a device password is set? Im sorry but that seems totally insane!

Lockscreen PIN

Good evening,
There is something that really buggers me at the moment, which is the stock android PIN insertion style.
For more clarity, this:

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Watch at that, it is so unaesthetic and awful. Why are the letters even there?
I've been on the lookout of a way to change that with 0 results, the few apps i've found are either spamming ads everywhere or very (VERY) laggy, which is something a Nexus 5 shouldn't suffer.
I'll get straight to the point now: is there a possible way to change it? A mod/app/theme, i don't mind just something!
Thanks,
Regards,
Daniel
Well...
To answer one question, it has letters because some people's password consists of words.
One App I used and LOVED was Dodol Locker https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.campmobile.locker
You can pick your own custom wallpaper as the lockscreen wallpaper and it has an iOS 7 style PIN system.
Cool app, too bad i cannot use the pin only without swype with widgetlocker.
Does anyone know any alternative?

No, but you can interpret them. So if someone were to make their password a car brand like Audi, their PIN would be 2834 to reflect the letters given to each number. So Lol back at you.

So long story short there is no alternative to that awfull and un-comfortable (have to press ok to confirm? couldnt it just not let me through in case it's wrong?) lock system we have?

Hmmm...in some custom rom you can excess system/home screen without having to press ok button to confirm...just enter the correct pin and you will automatically goes to your home screen but you need to enable the option in security first...
lock system? if you enter the wrong pin 5x or more in a row then the phone will lock it self...the only way to unlock it is the enter your gmail and its password...
Solution
I suspect you've already found the solution.
You can use "Clean Lockscreen" module for Xposed, available at http://repo.xposed.info/module/gd.sec.cleanlockscreen. It accomplishes exactly what you are seeking. You will need to install Xposed Framework for using this module.
I am assuming that your device is rooted and is not running a touchwiz based ROM.
Additionally, you can also use GravityBox Module if your ROM is a Kitkat ROM (http://goo.gl/cfMTz1) or if it is a JellyBean ROM (http://goo.gl/UCBIru) to enable "Quick Unlock" feature. This would allow you to unlock your device without the need to press "OK" in case of a successful PIN insertion.

[Q] Downloading Widgets Nexus 6 troubleshoot

Hi everyone, I have the AT&T Nexus 6 and I have tried downloading widgets from the Play Store but none of them shows in the widget drawer when I try to add one to my home screen. I have read reviews and forums saying that the apps/widgets need to be moved from the SD card to the device itself. The problem is that the nexus device does not even have an SD card slot so that option is not available. Can someone please help me ,is there an option to enable the widgets function without rooting? Thanks so much in advance.

I was informed by another member here that restarting system UI an accomplish the same thing without reboot. Just FYI.
How do I restart the system UI on Nexus 6? Sorry if I'm asking simple questions...I had a note 2 for almost 3 years so since switching to Nexus is a whole new experience...seems like I have to reboot every time after I install or uninstall an app for it to show/not show in my apps drawer.

Yes, I just searched everything under Developer Options and did not see anything about restarting the UI. There has to be another way other than rebooting which is very inconvenient. I wonder if anyone else is having this issue.
