[Q] Bricked note, what to do? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I bricked my Note due to the EMMC bug. Even the screen does not turn on when I plug it into the power. The Samsung repair center here in the Netherlands said it cannot be repared under warrenty, so if I want it to be fixed I have to pay 321 Euro's. Is there anything I can do to either fix it myself or to get rid of the (imho) way to high price?

send it to your most popular phonemenders(the one sammy uses) tell them you were on kies , it uploaded drivers and was acting strange so you factory reset it then it went black, no response.thats what i did and i got it fixed for free even tho i bought it second hand with no warranty

+1 yes you could have said to the samsung service that you had upgraded to ICS and the phone was acting weirdly so you factory reset from the menu and the phone went blank after that blah blah blah

You can try this here, but i would try activating the warranty by telling them you made a Factory reset!!
Good Luck!

They said it could not be fixed due to illegal software (aka the binary counter or they saw the custom rom. I have no idea how they got that info since I cannot get in the device, it doesn't even boot download mode.

I had same issue too..I sent to Samsung and they had it fixed without any question..

Samsung just have to boot download mode and they can see how many times you have flashed..

[Q] Brick question

So I think I bricked my Note by misunderstanding the lpy bug (tried to flash directly to cm9, didn't realise that was the wrong way). I don't seem to even be able to get into the bootloader though, is that a normal symptom of this emmc bug brick? Just want to make sure it really is bricked before trying to return it to Samsung. Basically holding vol down+home+power does nothing. Plugging it in to charge doesn't show the charging icon etc. Looks pretty bricked to me but perhaps I'm missing something?
Can you get into recoverymode vol-up+home+power?
nope

To force your phone into Download mode !
Hey, thanks for the suggestion. It doesn't seem to detect anything unfortunately. I think it might not apply to the Galaxy Note anyway.
Welcome to superbrick club.
Your best bet is to take the Note to SSC.
Act dumb, don't tell em' about rooting, flashing and roming.
What's SSC? Samsung something something I presume but..?
Ah Service Centre
Yeah and forgot to tell, flash stock kernel before you take your phone to SSC.
You don't wanna get caught with Clockwork Recovery, do you ?

Sorry, if it is stone cold dead it is not necessary and you are not able to enter download mode either.
Heh, yeah it's dead as a dodo!
Anyone know if it might be worth trying a USB jig?
If you have access to a JIG. Its allways worth a try, it wont hurt your phone more. But I dont think it will help.
Thanks. I've ordered one as they're cheap and I guess it's worth a try.
So your screen is just all black. Nothing lights up?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA App
Yeah absolutely no response from holding any button combination. Tried charging and also battery pulling between trying button combinations too.
Same here. JIG didn't make any difference
:/
Figure I'll get the same but as the bug can affect different bits of memory I suppose there's a small chance.
Have you RTM'd it to Samsung?

Soft bricked stock TMO D959 w/ no recovery/download mode

First off -- My friend Joe bricked his phone, not me; I'm just the poor schmuck trying to help him fix it.
What happened?
Joe lacks the terminology to adequately explain what went wrong, but I believe I've narrowed it down to two possibilities:
The phone was undergoing a system update and he restarted it before it completed, or it ran out of batteries
The phone completed the update normally, but the update was bad and the rom is corrupt now
The phone is completely stock (what a shame?) and is now boot looping. We can get the phone into "hard reset mode" and "hardware key control mode" using the methods described here. Unfortunately we cannot get the phone into "download mode" or "recovery mode" (which sounds similar to the poor Ukrainian dude a few threads up).
We did try running the factory reset, but unsurprisingly, it's still boot looping. Hopefully that wasn't a bad idea . . .
What I've looked at thus far
Reflashing stock? I doubt this would work, because how could I get the phone to take the file?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2644083
Stock boot and recovery, but same problem: how do I get it to take the files?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2666763&page=7
I've been reading for a little over an hour now without finding anything that looks promising. Any help anyone can provide would be awesome. Thanks!!
The new flash tool (not the offline method) should do it
---------- Post added at 02:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:08 PM ----------
If it was updating to kitkat 4.4.2 then you won't have a download mode to go into. And I'm not sure if the LG flash tool can do anything if it's not in download mode. But it's worth a shot. But if the phone is bone stick no root then have your friend return it to T-Mobile under warranty. For $5 they will send another one out overnight FedEx and he'll have to put his bad one in the box the new one comes in to return it. Warranty replacement.
Take it to T-Mobile. There is no fix for that. I spent 2 days working on the same issue with no success. Fortunately lg fixed it for me (I assume haven't received it back yet)
try a forced shutdown
Thanks mattwheat and kintwofan!
I had Joe stop by the T-mobile store today. Apparently they'd given him a hard time over the phone, but were far more polite in person. They said they'd have a replacement in tomorrow.

Have you tried to get into bootloader mode and is the phone visible in device manager?
Yup you are bricked check your device manager. We already have a thread on this.
Yeah device manager shows nothing. Wow ... That's crazy I've been doing this for years, is not like it was a file that I hadn't used before.

long press the power button for about 20 seconds. after about 3-4 seconds, press volume down as well. this should reboot your device into the bootloader. try it.

the reality is YOUR mistake broke YOUR phone.
If you're asking if its ok to lie about something YOU did to YOUR phone, I think you know the answer to that..
Do you think that t mobile and all of its customers should have to eat the cost of the phone when it was YOUR fault for breaking it?
I don't think you'll get much support for that on XDA...

Most probably it's battery is a faulty one. Try replacing it. Exactly same thing happened with my friend's Yu Yureka, and replacing the battery fixed it.
