So in cwm I forgot to clear the cache and factory reset when I installed a new rom (from 2.3 to 4.0) but I did not get a bootloop. So the phone is working, should I still reinstall and clear it?
No

okay, thanks
I'd still recommend doing a full wipe.
You don't want to get in some sort of trouble in the future and think... Would this issue not occur if I wiped clean?...
(Especially since you're coming from 2.3 to 4.0. I assume it's CM7 to CM9?)

Hey guys,
I have a nexus one currently running cm7 rc1.
I heard that rc2 came out.
Is there anyway that I could upgrade to rc2 without loosing anything that I currently have on rc1?
What do I do? Could I use rom manager?
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Just flash it over but do a backup first just in case.
Yes, just use ROM Manager to flash to RC2, just don't do a factory reset / wipe and all your settings and apps will carry over.
Depending on what kid of user you are, you may also want to look at Titanium Backup, its a pretty amazing tool. It has a slight learning curve but it really lets you take control of what you want to carry over from one build to the next, specially when you are going between different rom products that require a complete wipe
Soooo, all I have to do is to download the rom and gapps, and only do a backup- no wipe. After I do that will I have the same layout as rc1 but it will be rc2?
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Yes, but be careful, flashing can be habit forming and RC's are a gateway drug. You'll be a crackflasher in no time.

Should we wipe to move from 2.3.3 to 2.3.4?
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
You shouldn't need to wipe whenever you move minor versions, but it doesn't always work perfectly, and sometimes you end up needing to wipe anyway. Always nandroid, just in case something ends up going wrong on the new install.
hey mybrother im on stock 2.3.4 ,my phone alwys reboots manually i dont know why, whats problem is it?

Wipe cache, dalvik, and whatever else and reinstall rom. Titanium backup first though or nandroid.

I'm not sure. Are you interested in trying cyanogenmod? Goto cyanogen's website and download 6.1.1 or the latest cyan7 which is gingerbread. I heard it's stable now for nexus and the wonk issue is gone.
I voided my warranty.

yes im , but i wanna know why my phone does like that . so i wanna look in stock then go to cm7
thanks ;D
There should be no reason to reinstall stock 2.3.4 (it is installed into a read-only partition, so it can't be changed and is the same as when you got the phone updated to 2.3.4). All you should need to do is do a Factory Reset/Data Wipe. That will take you completely back to stock.
Ok,
I have been following the nightly Cyanogenmods and flashing them each time
through clockwork. The one dilima I have had is the loss of data when flashing
each rom. Every time the next build comes out, putting it on after normal procedure
(wiping the data, wiping cache, schtuff like that) puts it back to just cyanogen mod 7.
All of the apps are wiped, custom icons, settings, themes, and the flashed Google apps
are all lost. As I'm sure you could imagine, having to go over and completely re-do
All of that every couple of days is incredibly frustrating and bothersome. What
I'm asking is "are there any methods or any way I could back up all of that data?"
Any response would be awesome.
THANKS!!!

I wipe cache and dalvik that's it and I don't lose anything.

You don't need to wipe anything at all.
Just flash it.

Yeah. It doesn't.
However, it does save you some steps and time.

If you wipe data, you'll lose everything. It's unnecessary. You don't likely have to wipe caches, but it wont hurt as they will be recreated.

Sweet guys!! Figured it out. Thanks for the helpful help. You are legitimately awesome.
I'm desperate with this one please help me! I'm using SlimICS but it seems like i have a miscalibrated accelerometer. I tried apps to calibrate but doesnt work. I read somewhere about the sensorcalibutil_yamaha located in /system/bin/ but I cant find mine. Cant play asphalt or any landscape accelerometer games bacause it kept tilting. I searched everywhere regarding this but still cant find an answer. Im using semaphore kernel in case it has something to do with this.

Solution: I flashed back to Gingerbread rom, did the horizontal calibration and flashed custom ICS rom. Works for me
Go into settings/display/horizontal calabration.
Please hit thanks!

that wont help. As I've said, im on ICS rom and horizontal calibration is not in the settings. I tried gps status but didnt work either. I'd like to know how to calibrate it with emulator.

Well if you go back to gb and calabrate then go back to ice that might work. Unless of course you tried that already. Make backups in TB first if you don't want to lose anything.

Try reflash the rom you're on then u don't have wipe, only clear cache and dalvik
Maybe format system in recovery, find it in mount/storage and clear cache and dalvik, then reflash rom
I'll be putting the new nightly in a second so I'll try that. What will happen when I format system?

If I do a factory reset in recovery while safe system is enabled, does that only reset the Rom on that side of the partition? Or does it reset the other side where I have 232 installed (safe system disabled) as well?
A little background: I was having issues on 232 with reboots after a month or so so I decided to give liquid a shot which seems ok so far.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks. So would it help at all to do a factory reset on the 232 side? Does that side serve as the base for the Rom?

I think the main thing that is used from the "non-safe" side on the "safe-side" is the kernel. I was having some problems with 232 and did a factory reset and it helped, but you will loose all of apps and data, even safestrap. You will have to install it again and flash a ROM to your "safe-side" again because it will delete the preinstall where your "safe system" is stored.

No prob. There are a few new CM10 and AOKP based Jelly Bean builds that are pretty stable and very fast if you're looking for some new ROMs. I running AOKP and loving it.

Question. If I nandroid on the safe side, factory reset on the 232 side. A) will I lose root B) if I won't lose root can I just factory reset, reinstall safestrap go to safe mode then restore the current nandroid?

A) No you won't loose root.
B) I'm pretty sure you can restore a current nandroid.
Just make sure you don't restore a "safe" backup to the "non safe" side, and if you are going to try out Jelly Bean on your safe side make sure to format "/system" along with wiping when coming from ICS.

Try rebooting into safestrap and clearing cache, clearing dalvik cache, and fix permissions. Then reboot. It will take a couple of minutes for it to reboot the first time you reboot.

No, the only time you should format /system is when you are flashing a new ROM on the "safe side", and NEVER on the "non safe" side.

And always remember to keep a good backup of the "non safe" side! I have had a couple of stupid moments when I accidentally formatted the system on the non safe side and having a good backup saved me a lot of trouble.

You could try FXZ back to .905 and reinstall the .232 leak. As long as your still on .232.

Alright. When I did the factory reset it removed all those apps like lets golf etc that are pre installed. Is that going to cause any issues fxz'ing back?
Also, do I just follow the steps like in this guide to FXZ back?
