I need to send it to warranty. I've downloaded the stock firmware of my country and flashed with Smart Flash Tool. My question is:
Can they check that I flashed different ROMS?
Nope (i think) only if you rooted your phone. He will loose the waurranty*

dont forget to cleanup your SD card. They will know your OB ever been root if they found files/folder that have related to root.

Hi guys,
So basically I got a bit over-excited and flashed a new ROM without disabling lag fixes... now whenever I flash a ROM or want to disable lag fixes, the phone just doesn't start up unless I put it into jfs (the fix I was using when I messed up) basically I can't boot the phone with rfs anymore.....
Has this happened to anyone else? Is it easily fixed?

this is wrong forum to post
by the way what does this means "Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App " if ur phone is bricked than how can u send it from SGS ? u got another one?
I can boot but only if I reapply lag fixes, can't boot without a lag fix enabled.... sorry if I wasn't clear

well to be true, i never disable lagfix before installing any new firmware to my phone. let me tell u what i do --
1) First flash I9000XWJM8 ( eclair rom) with RE-Partition and 512.pit
2) format sd card
3) flash new froyo rom ( whichever i want to )
4) Flash Kernel whichever i want to.
thats it. thats how i do it and it always work for me. Dont know if its the right thing or not but i always do it this way
Hmmmm, OK thanks, I'll give it a go!
so?? successful or not?
Just got it all back up and running (after a brief detour via cyanogeb beta... fun!) And it seems to have sorted it! Thanks alot!

So, if I root my phone I know I loose my waranty.
But, what if I root it, put on a theme, put on JiT and unroot it?
Will I still have my waranty or it will delete.
I'm talking about 2.1.1.A.0.6.
Thanx.
if you unroot your device back then sure the warranty still valid

Lock bootloader if you opened it and unroot. think it will let you regain your warranty but dont know about jit they may find about you putting the jit there and invalidate your warranty
What ever you do to your phone, As long doesn't involve unlock bootloader it still under warranty (If u somehow revert back to stock eclair)

Well, yes.... But if under certain circumstances that your x8 is hardware damaged (Screen) & you still rooted..... you at least can flashback to 2.1 (Screen doesn't work, but flash stock rom is not a problem....)....
But if hardware that is damaged until cannot turn on the phone..... BUY AN NEXUS 7
Hi guys, I have tired unlocking my bootloader and ended up bricking my device. Even tho its 9w not 11w+ ..anyway I have fixed it and its working and rooted now. But I need help making xrecovery or any recovery work. I have latest 2.1 with baseband. 015 and tried putting the files on system/bin and rebooted nothing showed up when clicking back rappidly. Can any one help? Thx a lot

Why dont you use flashtool to flash another kernel. Other kernels already have recoveries installed with them and you will be able to flash better ROMs but only if you have unlocked the bootloader in the end. Did you unlock it or is it just rooted?
btw you have to install busybox aswell.
read this thread very carefully and beware which package you download.
I couldn't unlock cuz I got bricked while trying. I need to install recovery with my locked bootloader. Is that possible? Gonna check ur link now

Hi, how did you fixed it?? I have the same problem...
LOL.......you cant have an x8 with 9w.. cause it was released in 2010!!
are you sure you putted the 3 files?
Xrecovery.tar
busybox
chargemon
maybe you can downgrade it first dude..
then you can restore your file if you've backup files..
root your phone with SOC or Flashtool
click the padlock icon
afterthat install the root explorer by file manager
OR
copy paste these files (busybox, chargemon, xrecovery.tar) on system\bin after install rootexplorer

To retain the warranty you need to unroot and go back to stock rom from your region

I understand it but what are those flash counts all these stuffs confused me.
Flash counts void your warranty. Use triangle away to remove them.

Once u reset the flash counter using TriangleAway, your phone will show the binary count as 0 & firmware as samsung official (this is something which samsung may check to see if you have flashed cutom rom/firmware. By resetting this, samsung will not come to know that you had rooted your phone :thumbup then u can flash ur region's stock rom using PC Odin..it wl unroot & remove cwm..
I dont want to permanently root my phone by flashing CW5 so as to keep my warranty..

dude you get your warranty back if you flash a stock rom again....rooting is always tempprary and you can get it unrooted easily....if you damage your phone after rooting and then if something happend then your warranty will be void.....so risk is yours-- warranty or root.....i rooted my phone within 1 hr of its purchase and after 5 months there was not even a single day i felt that i should get my warranty back...l.....
but CW5 still remains i suppose!! And where can i find the exact stock rom?
