Well, this app shows me that "RIL/Baseband doesn't match".
I try clicking "Download & Install RIL", the app starts "downloading" the "correct" RIL, it says it installed it successfully.
But, yes there's a but, after that it goes back to saying that my ril/baseband doesn't match.
Then I did a reboot. Starting GetRIL: Now my baseband says "unknown". So now I'm working on getting the correct radio for this RIL (2.2.0201HM)
I Will edit this post again after flashing the latest radio and tell you guys how it goes.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok so i Clearly got no idea about what I'm doing here, after flashing the latest Radio (to go with the latest RIL) i got no signal on mobile/data networks. It was just after installing the latest RIL i saw in this thread that RILs should not be installed on AOSP Roms. Im on LC's IceColdSandwich which is AOKP based, that after my understanding is based on AOSP. I have now reflashed my ROM to see if this solves my data problems.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
After reflashing my ROM I got my singnal back!
I then started GetRIL again and got the "RIL/Baseband doesn't match". Then went back to the Radio/RIL thread to check which RIL I should use on the radio im on, found it and downloaded and installed that. GetRIL now says "RIL/baseband is matching". I rebooted the phone and tada! lost my signal.
Back to the Radio/RIL thread: It says to dont install RILs on AOSP ROMs.
My conclution: the GetRIL app work if you check which RIL you should install to go with your Radio, But DON'T use it on AOSP/AOKP Roms!
Even I tried on aokp.. You won't get after reboot. If you are using custom rom it comes with the latest RIL. RIL is always included in the rom.. So no need to use this.. For me it was showing mismatch of RIL with baseband.. After flashing my phone has become dumb and deaf till the next flash..

Can someone explain me why do I need to have a matching RIL and baseband?
Is there any better RIL for each Carrier?
Does the RIL updates with the ROM?
Does anyone knows any tutorial about the RIL?
Thanks!
I used this with ics Rom and after phone will not recognize the sim card. Had to revert back. Do not switch RIL if on a ics Rom. (sense or base)

Anyone notice any differences?
I assume this radio can be flashed to be used on a 2.3.2 ROM?

Yes it can be flashed on 2.3.2. Too early to tell but nothing has exploded yet so that's always a good sign.
after flashing the radio(it flashed fine. much faster then flashing a radio on the N1) i noticed it connected to the network much faster than the old one. also, in the location im at now, data speed more than doubled! it went from 2.5mbps to nearly 6! i hope its that way when i get home too
i flashed it over the latest cm7 kang without any issue.
Thanks for this. Working nicely with CM7.
Seems reception is a little better.
Just curious what's MD5?

It's a hash function to check if the download is intact. A broken download can brick your phone.
Not checking MD5 is like going raw with a chick you picked up at a bar.
Nice to have

The new radio is awesome, I actually get reception in my apartment that's halfway below ground(on a hill), that I never got before. Almost no need for Wi-Fi Calling anymore. Scratch one problem with the phone off my list.
New radio is great. Bluetooth connection is now flawless whereas before it would always drop the media connection to my stereo (I assume the baseband governs the bluetooth radio as well?).
By the way, does anyone have the old radio .zip for 2.3.1? I downgraded to 2.3.1 to get the OTA update to 2.3.3 rather than the update.zip from the forum (in case the yellowy screen was a fault of a flawed update) and now i can't get the OTA because i still have the 2.3.3 baseband (i assume this is the reason i can't get the 2.3.2 OTA being as it has always been available when i was on 2.3.1 in the past.
Thanks in advance.
new radio works great .. i get better speed.. much better upload speed..... nexus always rules...
I feel like the wifi connects faster.

I'm currently using MIUI ROM 2.3.7 (build MIUI-1.12.2)
baseband: 1035.21_20110405
kernel: 2.6.32.45-cyanogenmod ([email protected]#1)
Curently having network breakdown issue. might have a few breakdowns in a day, sometimes don't have. do i need to upgrade baseband or kernel? can anyone help me please. i'm having a lots of appointment daily as i can't have breakdowns so often.
I don't understand what you mean by breakdown? Is it complete loss of signal? If it is then this happened to me in the galnet's latest weekly and ICS build. I don't know about the ones from miuiandroid or miui.us, as I haven't tried them. But if they share a similar base, then theoretically they should share similar problems unless some post-release fixes were added like those of galnet.
To recover, these worked for me most times:
reboot
manualy trigger network registration
I'm back to CM now. It's most stable and usable for me.
ya, totally loss of signal. its bored to keep rebooting all the time. i dont feel like using the basic android layout/UI rom. MIUI is nice but got some issue. sigh.... anyway, thanks for replying. anyone else would like to help me out???
Well I used 218 bb before, jumped over to 823 and matching ril. No more breakdowns.

You can get it from Temasek's mediafire link. Huge thanks to him..!
But flashing this is little tricky. You need to extract the file, then flash the .fls files begining from the biggest file to the smallest - in this order.
flash R375_SIC.fls
reboot the phone
flash AENEAS_FW.fls
reboot the phone
slb.fls
reboot the phone
psi.fls
reboot the phone.
I use smartflash to flash basebands, that is available in the same link.
Hope this helps.

really thanks to u.
No Problem, guys.. Glad that I could be of some help - so little comparing to what we get from XDA.
In the meanwhile, I did test MiUi 1.12.2. too. I used to get this problem of MiUi goes to airplane mode at times.
Then I have flashed Owain's Tweaks. I did make a difference. Phone did not got into airplane mode anymore. Above this I have flashed ironkernel too ( seeking better stability - with undervolt settings of -25 v using pimpcpu).
This combination worked good for me for a couple of days without any issues. Then I jumped back to CM7 Kangs .
You might give this combination, if you feel like.
I'm using 1.11.4 and been having a few issues recently with loss of signal and a reboot was the only thing that fixed the problem. I found that I had a mismatch of baseband and RIL. S I used getril from the market and everything seems ok now. Only had it on for a day so far but it's been fine...
Helllo. I have it the same problems with the network. My phone was losing signal on all roms, cm7, miui, modaco, until i flash the baseband 07 25 and everything works well. Tomorow i will try the miui rom to see what happens.
divyan, i crash my set now. miui did not work on my 2x. tried flashed cm7 and kang. installed but did not boot up after 10 mins each. i downloaded LG RIL and GetRIL.
LG RIL did not mention if my RIL match with the baseband or not. but GetRIL says my baseband does not match with my RIL. i did follow your steps to flash the 823. not working thou.
now in CWM i can backup but i kenot restore. its automatically unmount the /system. darn. i think something wrong with my 2x.
seriously can u teach me how to redo all the stuffs?
i really like miui!

i have the same problem, with EVERY rom.
currently on 0725 baseband, V20L october version, nothing different: i got signal loss once-twice a day.
tried BB 0208, 0315, 0405, 0602 as well.
I 'll have to try 0823 with 4 separate files, as suggested in this thread
My phone always goes into airplane mode (by itself) after a reboot and a few hours of sleep time - im on cm7 with 725. Once that's done I just set the airplane mode off and it stops disconnecting from the network...
currently running on cm7 night #204 with 0823 and 0208 RIL. been good so far but got issue once i flash ironkernel. dunno why.
I had this occurring several times already : while in a voice call, the call simply ends randomly and the screen is locked (even if I initiate the call).
Does anyone else have this issue ?
I had it several times on different ROMs so I suppose it's not ROM related.
It does not happen every time I place a call. But it's very annoying when it happens. It's very annoying to have to call back several times while in a serious discussion ... or ever!

Check you Baseband and RIL....install the free app..GETRIL from the market and install the RIL for your Baseband....this app will check by itself and tell you the recommended RIL. Install and u can change if that does not suit you to another recommended one or RIL from your country as well....

Could work, but be careful about the app. There are several people who had problems even after installing it. So make a nandroid backup first.
And if you use an 8xxx baseband, you should not use the recommanded RIL, but one of the 725. Otherwise it won't work.

I use 20M baseband and V20O RIL and it gives me no issues for the 0.5ICS themed Django ROM and I face no issues....but u need to check your device and try it out....i dont think anything is forbidden and dangerous...just a matter of device, ROM, operator and so on.....
Try, Play, Enjoy and nothing comes without an amount of risk....nevertheless, dont forget to backup before u try anything
Thanks.
I'm using v20l baseband with v20o RIL. Beside this issue everything works as it should. I'll upgrade to latest available baseband and check it.

I had that issue when I upgraded from stock Froyo to stock GB.
After I switched to CM7.2 KANG (temasek's) I haven't seen that a single time.
On stock I guess I was using 0725 (v10d) and a matching RIL but on CM I got GetRIL and had it install the correct RIL for me so I'm running a matching 0725 BB with 0725 RIL.
// Stefan
i had this only with other kernels
It seems to me that the most common problem people are reporting with CM10 is related to the network, caused by the new RIL in the ROM. For those of us who actually use our phones as phones, this is not good! Also, any attempts to change the RIL via the GetRIL app, regardless of network or region, seem to cause a complete network loss.
So I thought I'd start a thread to consolidate everyone's accounts of their network experience with the new CM10 nightlies. Please post your region, carrier, and baseband, as well as a brief summary of any problems you have (if any). Getting all this info together in one clean list would be very helpful in assisting RC when he debugs.
I'll start here.
Region: Ontario, Canada
Carrier: Fido (subsidiary of Rogers Wireless)
Baseband: V21b (stock Fido baseband, never changed)
Problems: Signal bars fluctuate rapidly compared to CM7, on 3G. EDGE is less of a problem. Call quality is not affected so far. Able to make and receive calls and SMS.
Edit: Unsure if this is baseband/RIL related, but when I am calling through my in-car bluetooth handsfree, the bluetooth tends to disconnect itself and cut off my call.
Edit: List of basebands can be found on Tonyp's thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1658047
The same thread shows instructions on how to flash new basebands, along with download links.
I have also added a poll. Users can select multiple options if they find more than one baseband works.
Edit: OMFG, I forgot to add the V30 SU660 option in the poll and I can't figure out how to edit the poll... can a mod help me out?

I've installed the BB From TonyP Thread >http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1658047 Named 0420-V20m_SU660-Baseband
After, i've full-wipe and install the last nighlty with gapps.
Now, Date Hours is OK, battery look good.
ps: I don't know how to do a "strike" ------ but battery drain with that
What's the matching BB to the RIL that comes with CM10? I'd rather go that way than changing the RIL...
EDIT: Forget it, already checked the baseband thread in development, gonna flash the matching BB now

I flashed many roms (stock Froyo/GB, CM, MIUI) using every time the updated baseband for Italy and I always forgot about ril and everything was fine; only once, following all the technical suggestions, I used getril to match bb/ril and had bootloop.
Now I have 20S bb and flashed CM10 nightly: wifi, phone voice/data and gps work fine.
EDIT: suggestion, download the bb of your country and forget ril

I had 725 BB in the beginning... which was ok... then I flashed the most recent BB (non SU660) and I was very happy with it, better battery, better reception stability... so for me, the more recent the better, that's why I'll start by trying flashing the most recent BB instead of going back in RIL.
EDIT: Even if it's the toughest way to start!
I previously had the stock V20S (flashed the KDZ). With V20S BB, no problems with JB. No call issues, SMS issues, nothing. Stable signal. Local operator: Claro.

BTW, do you have some connection problems with CM10 or is it just a cultural problem?

I also have the same BB from V20s. Here are the issues that I saw in CM10, without changing RIL:
1. My phone number is shown as Unknown (in "About Phone").
2. Unable to see any contacts on my SIM card.
3. Unable to read a carrier's voicemail setup from my SIM card (need to configure access number manually).
4. Auto time is way off (need to set the time manually).
No problems with the actual functionality (signal strength, call audio quality, SMS, USSD codes). My location is Canada, Pacific time zone.

It has to be the RIL. Basebands are not affected by flashing the ROM, except for maybe the stock ROM. But custom ROMs like CM don't do anything to the baseband at all.
E.g. I've flashed CM7.1, CM7.2, and CM10 on my phone and the baseband has remained exactly the same as it was on stock froyo.
Region: Kerala, India
Carrier: BSNL
Baseband: v20i
Problems: unable to hear calls. everything else is fine it think
I can confirm that all issues with 0521 BB (no audio in call, bad time, etc) are solved with 0420 BB and default CM10 RIL.
Carrier: Orange
Region: Spain
Baseband: 0521 (v20s)
Problems: No audio in calls, bad time zone, random data drops...
Everything solved changing BB to 0420 SU660.
After install CM10 i lost the signal and battery status, please help me

Is there a relationship between bootloaders and basebands? I mean, can I use an old BB (say a v20a or v20g) BB with the new bootloader? Anyone tried it? I'm asking because I've flashed a stock ICS (aka v30a BB, new bootloader) and then moved on to ParanoidAndroid by TonyP. But now I wish to test how my 3G behaves on my original BB, but I don't want to re-install everything. If I can keep the new bootloader, a simple nandroid backup will do for the inevitable wipe caused by the BB flashing.

I'm asking about bootloaders, not RILs. Since I'll keep on using PA, I'll use whatever RIL comes with the ROM. As Tonyp explains in the Basebands thread, you don't mess with RILs in CM10 based ROMs (which PA is one of).
You can use v10 v20 bb with no problems at all. I think the best option for cm10 roms is to use old bbs since with v30 bbs cm10 roms show one hour less than it should be. I meab the time is now 8:30 but on a cm10 rom it would show 7:30

Well, I've never had those time problems. Maybe it's because I don't get time from my network (I try but it seems that they don't send it anyway ).
Since I need some time to do the backup, I'll try flashing the baseband on the weekend and when I have the results I'll post it here.
