The thing about flashing kernels and holics is that if you are s-on and you flash a kernel that's not in the actual ROM its-self you will get the WiFi issues.
My fix to this problem if your s-on: download the ROM which in your case is holics0.9b and open the ROM on your computer. Next find the extras folder, then find the kernel folder, once you find the boot.img with your phone in the fast-boot menu do the (fast boot flash boot boot.img) and it will fix the WiFi for this ROM.

hey there, so my device is s-on off course running the bell ICS update and i tried flashing the holics ics rom and it works perfectly except the wifi wont turn on, i thought it was the kernel, so i flashed that and the phone boot looped. now im back at the stock ruu but really want the holics ics...
please help as to what this could be
Did you use fastboot to flash the boot.img after extracting it from the .zip, then flash the Rom? If using the all-in-one kit, you can go into data>kernels in the file and replace one of the boot.img's in there with the extracted boot.img and just run that script through the tool kit, boot into recovery, and flash Rom.
i flashed to 4.2.2 this morning but i didn't like it so i decided to go back to stock jelly bean but i can't !! kies wont connect to my phone it would just keep loading and loading and never actually open the phone itself so i tried downloading the drivers manually but then odin doesn't recognize at all i tried unitsalling kies , updating , reinstalling nothing would ever work ! but y laptop recognizes the device and i can acess the files but other then this nothing
====update=====
i tried flashing with mobile odin and now it is stuck on samsung blue logo just keeps doing the animation over and over so i connected to pc and odin recgonized and flashed the rom again but then it is stuck on a boot loop and i tried wiping cache and factory data reset but wont work
What rom did you flash. Ics or JB. Install Philz kernel and do a wipe data reboot. If still no go then wipe system data cache and preload and reboot into download mode and flash stock rom again.
Rebooting in recovery and clearing cache and dalvik cache may help..
same problem here.

It didn't here. I went back from XXLT4 (rooted) to XXLT4 (stock non-root) using ODIN, and the problem was gone. Then I flashed PhilZ 4.93.6 kernel, and the problem was back. No connection, neither USB or Wifi. I was on a rooted stock kernel before, but have no idea what the problem was.
So, as soon as I root the firmware, the connectivity is gone.
Update: it's back. I have no idea why, I'm still on XXLT4 + latest PhilZ kernel.
Next problem: Where can I edit the newly added lockscreen shortcuts? Could it be that flashing PhilZ kernel removed that feature from the settings menu? I can't find it... and I've definitely seen it before I rooted.

Why do you want to flash Philz kernel..just root your phone on the stock kernel..JB stock kernel is bug free..
Go to settings--lock screen--swipe and there you have the option to change it on stock lock screen..do you have a custom lock screen??

Thanks! I used PhilZ because it came with cwm, built in root and was easily available.
Do you know how to go back to stock kernel without a full install? (and keep cwm and root). Something like a XXLT4 German / DBT kernel in a ZIP zile I can flash from recovery? I simply don't know where to find that.
Mybe SCS information is missing.*#1234# and view SCS code.
My CSC information is currently "N7000OXALT4" and nothing more. I was half expecting "DBT" behind that. Could that really be the problem?
Looks like I should go for a new nandroid backup & CSC reset?

The stock kernel is the zImage which is included in the stock rom, and can be flashed.

Thanks, I figured that out in the meantime, packed zImage into another flashable ZIP and signed it. Now I can theoretically flash it using "mobile ODIN" (to keep root) or from CWM. It's still not the perfect solution since I would definitely want CWM. So currently, I keep running PhilZ and wait for a better solution for the lockscreen icon issue.
whats the issue with lock screen? sorry for asking but after reading the thread i got confused.
I have a Sprint HTC One M7WLS, unlocked, S-ON, Clockwork Recovery.
The problems started with me flashing Revolution HD. I wasn't aware Revolution wasn't available for the WLS (Sprint) model, so I installed it as 'International + Non-listed Models'. The phone booted up into the ROM after installation, but with limited connectivity. The phone would reboot about a minute after loading. I wiped Cache, Dalvik, System, SDCard, Data (everything CWM allows me to format). Reinstalled a new ROM, still experienced reboot issue. The new ROM (TrickMod) gave me a 'Process System Not Responding' error, and then a reboot about thirty seconds after error. All ROMs are having wifi issues. In initial setup, if I'm able to get the keyboard to type in the WiFi Password, my device refuses to connect due to 'temporarily avoiding poor connection' error. I believe this may be the root of, or related to my problems. I get no cellular signal, and am unable to launch 'Activate Device' on any ROM. So far all the ROMs I've tried include:
Revolution HD, TrickMod, SuperNexus, and D3rp. Not all give the 'Process System Not Responding' error, but none of them can connect to WiFi, none can activate the device, and all of them reboot about a minute or two after boot.
Any ideas or solutions?
---
PS: Before flashing Revolution HD (my phone was still running on factory stock ROM), I used TWRP to backup all partitions. After Revolution HD, I attempted to restore all partitions, but the phone would boot up, error, and reboot as with all other ROMs that I tried after this. I installed CWM for TrickMod, SuperNexus, and D3rp so I could sideload ROMs (TWRP would hang on sideload, and I can't boot into the system to transfer ROMs to the sdcard).
---
Edit: I also wiped Dalvik and Cache and Fixed Permissions after ROM install. Still erroring out.
CM 10.1
We can add CM 10.1 to the list of ROMs that don't work.
Have you tried the Ruu?

SOUNDS LIKE YOU need to flash a stock kernel.

I downloaded the RUU. Using the All-in-One Toolkit informed me I needed to relock my device and restore stock recovery. I haven't done either of those things yet. I don't know how to reinstall stock recovery.
What exactly does the RUU do though?
Have you tried to flash a stock kernal as suggested above?
I haven't used the toolkit but I read it will relock the bootloader for you. The stock recovery will be flashed during the Ruu process.

Don't many of these ROMs flash their own kernels?
It's my understanding I'll need an unsecure boot.img to flash a stock kernel.
How do I unsecure my boot.img?
Where can I find stock kernel download?
Yes, the roms flash a kernal. Have you tried any of the sprint specific roms since this started happening? I would suggest you try one of viperboys roms.

All ROMs have been found on Sprint HTC One Development forums. Except Revolution HD, which I installed as 'International' since 'Sprint' wasn't an option. That's when everything went foul, including my Nandroid restores. This leads me to believe a botched install of Revolution is the cause of my problems.
I'm downloading Viper for Sprint One right now, give it a go.
Just tried Tranquility, still got reboot issues.
If Viper doesn't work, I'm going to try the RUU. RUU will flash stock kernel, correct?
RUU Worked!

I'm going to install a ROM now and mess it all up again xD
Thanks everyone!
I'm glad you got it figured out.
Hi!
I've installed the MIUI ROM a few days ago. Everything looked good.
Today went to install the Elemental kernel.
Downloaded zip, went into recovery, installed from there, went through all the options and then reboot. Never booted again.
It just stays with the screen on, all black for more than 10min (as long as I waited).
It does boot into recovery though.
What is wrong and how can I fix this?
Thanks
Flash the stock kernel or reflash the rom
It's a prob of the kernel, you flashed a sense kernel on an cm rom..

you flashed a sense kernel on a CM based rom that's the problem .. said it once ill say it again .... SLOW DOWN AND READ before you screw your phone up
Damn!
I've been told I could do this without a problem.
So what do I do now? Reinstall the ROM?
That would stay with the Elemental kernel and the ROM?
Thanks!
Who ever to you that was flipping yanking your chain... YEA reflash the MIUI rom
Sent from my METAL PHONE not some plastic phone bloated phone
Or you can just extract the boot.img from the rom and flash it separately if you don't want to flash the whole thing again
Yup. That worked!
So you're telling me I wont be able to have the benefits of Elemental while using this ROM?
Unfortunately not at the moment, unless he makes an MIUI compatible kernel
I reflashed stock after a TWRP backup sent me into a bootloop and now my phone can't recognize the SIM or connect to Wifi. Can somebody please help?
Edit: I'm not sure why this worked, but I fixed this by trying to flash the Havoc custom ROM. The ROM wouldn't boot, but when I reflashed stock afterwards, the problem was fixed.
was your imei intact before you reflashed back to stock

I'm not sure if you're referring to when I reflashed stock and had problems or when I reflashed stock after trying to flash Havoc and fixed it. I can't answer either way because both times I reflashed I was stuck in a bootloop, so I couldn't check the IMEI.
hey guys i got stuck in the same problem but after flashing an android one stock rom i got back working my wifi and sim card, but now i'm stuck on this dead rom, if i try to flash another stock rom again ihte same issue happens, if i try custom doesn't boot, so i don't have a clue of what to do can someone give me some tip about it?

Since everything works when you have the Android One ROM installed, try backing up the EFS with that ROM installed and restoring on the ROM you want to use.
No wifi after flashing ROM
I had the same thing happen after flashing a ROM. In my case, it was a repeatable error. I reflashed the modem partition from the stock modem after flashing the custom ROM and everything started working again.
