Looking for a power without battery cable - Motorola Droid Bionic

Don't know exactingly what its called but yea "power Bionic without battery cable" and would there be a way to mod/create one out of a regular cable.
thanks for the info

Are you talking about an inductive charger? You won't be able to use a standard cable for that, and would have to put a special case on your bionic.

Team Black Hat sells them periodically. Supposedly you just need to swap one pair of wires in a standard usb cable to make one, but I never looked too deeply into it.

If you want to try and make your own, that link will explain how.
We will have more available in a couple days, probably by Monday or Tuesday next week.

Streak 7 won't charge! All help appreciated!

Every time i plug in the charger it thinks im plugging in a dock. All it would do is go into docking mode. Now the battery is dead and it won't do anything. Anyone have any advice on a fix or alternate way to charge. I tried every way possible of resetting before it died but to no avail. I appreciate any and all help guys.

My streak 5 did this to me, without any time to waste I went to Best Buy and bought one flat out, tried the new cable and I was good to go, I kept the good cable and returned the new phone to Best Buy.... crappy thing to do I know but i couldn't go without and dell was the only place to get cable.

Sounds like this might be a solution, unless it's the Streak7 that has the connectors wrong.
I'd guess that this has to do with the connexion points in the PDMI cable or port. It has pins that will trigger dock mode and pins that will trigger battery charging (iirc), so perhaps either the ones on the cable or on the S7 are switched around (or have some sort of jump going on due to poor QA).
Ugh, my new Dell 7 won't charge now either. I did charge it once, then flashed HoneyStreak, and now it won't charge. It can connect to my computer's USB port, but no charging.
I think I saw someone suggest to go back a version of HoneyStreak. Any suggestions?

The S7 cannot charge from the computer USB port; it only works with the mains adapter supplied with the device.

What's annoying is the LED goes red like it's charging, but it isn't... or it's draining faster than it's charging.

After looking further into my problem, i see now that part of the board where you plug it in at is broken. Dell sent me a new one, so im gonna crack it open and try bypassing the old charge port and put in a new usb port to charge it with. Then ill have two of them. Ill never know why dell didnt go usb on this thing anyway. Oh wait they did that so we cant buy aftermarket cables for it! Damn is dell owned by microsoft!! Lol. But thx for all the help and helpful ideas everyone!

I am having this problem with a new streak I got for one of my boys, the connector inside is broken. Did you ever get the part replaced? Or is it just an expensive paperweight? What did you have to do to change it out?

I think they planned to have an expansion port, where the connector was used for other things, like HDMI perhaps. HP did the same thing with the Slate 500.

Can I charge my Droid X w/ my NC charger?

Just want to make sure as I am going on vacation soon and it would be nice not to have to lug 2 chargers around. I read somewhere that the NC charger has some unique wire that allows it to quick charge the NC.

No you cant. The connector for the nook is to wide for it to plug into a normal microusb port. You can use these charger head but you will have to also bring two cables.

I used the nook color charger to charge my EVO (seperate cable) while on vacation in Europe. It worked great.
Actually I use my captivate as well to charge it... BUT.... what I have found out I believe the amperage is different, soooo it will take you longer to charge AND in general can't get a 100% charge... at least on my captivate charger...
The Nook will charge faster with its own cable as opposed to a generic micro-usb.
The Nook cable is not meant to charge anything other than the Nook.
Standard USB charger: 500mA max.
Nook charger: 2A (i.e. 2000mA) max.
You can do the math about how long a standard charger will take vs. the B&N one. Also bear in mind there will be a current pull coming from the device (which will disable sleep when connected) in the neighborhood of ~100-150mA, further restricting the power budget.

[Q] wire a power supply to battery terminals?

I have a captivate with a broken USB port. No cable works, and it won't charge. However, other than that, it works fine. So I was going to make it an MP3 player, but of course, powering it is an issue.
So I was thinking that if there was some way to get a little power supply and wire it right to the battery contacts, it could just sit there running off wall power all the time.
Voltage isn't much of a problem, but does anybody know how to figure out the pad layout for the contacts?
Anybody done anything like this?
Thanks for any help.
get it fixed for like 35 buck link in my sig for connexion2005
Thanks for the info. I did google a few places, but most wanted 75-95 bucks to fix it, and that just wasn't worth it for my needs.
$35 in my sig. you should do it. I had to and it was well worth it
The desktop dock will charge the battery independently from the phone

There are a number of chargers available on Ebay that can charge the battery outside the phone. I think I paid about ten bucks and got one with an extra battery.

Yeah, that's what I'm currently using. I just wanted to have it permanently wired for power. But fixing the charging port seems to be the simplest solution.
One advantage of wiring it directly would be to avoid the pigtail hanging out the top of the phone, but I may use the samsung dock once I get the port fixed, and that eliminates that problem...
Thanks again. (Of course, the other problem is that I can't flash anything to the phone unless I can download and flash it from cwm, since usb connectivity is completely shot).

[Q] Charging Bionic causes screen spasms?

So I've googled this and see there's a lot of ideas behind what causes it but I Can't find a solid answer.
It doesn't do it when i have it plugged into the outlet on my desk. It has the samsung charge base and a motorola cable. But on the bedside I had an HTC base with the samsung cable (it's long) and it spazzes out.
I also got some cheap charger only able that came with my phone (used phone off of ebay the seller gave me the charger).
So I guess this leaves me to believe that there's something special about the MOTO cable?
I'd say you're very fortunate to have a cable that doesn't cause the problem. Mine has done that with every cable is used. Another person I know hasn't had the problem at all.
I would suggest trying to get your hands on a motorola charger, I've never had much luck using non-moto chargers with my Bionic
Definitely try a different cable. My Bionic and my wife's D4 had that problem with one particular charger in our house so we tossed the charger.

wall plug
I've only ever had trouble with spazzing when my power AC to DC converter has an output amperage over 1A.
Unfortunately for me, the one that came with my Bionic had an output of 1.3A, so I was wicked confused for a while.
I subscribed to this topic when I skimmed by it a while back, to keep up if anything interesting popped up.
But I wanted to shoot a quick post. I've been having this problem forever with this phone (3 different bionics as well) using my supplied moto usb/ac adapter with other cables.
I saw a post mentioning to just try the supplied adapter and usb cable with it. I couldn't verify if I actually ever had the problem with both together.
Alas, the problem is here too..
I've read somewhere it's an internal grounding issue. I can't vouch for that statement, except of course that it is an issue.
I'll be back if anything ever changes

Wall Charger replacement?

I was wondering if anyone knew where I could purchase a replacement OEM wall charger for my Galaxy Gear. I've been to Samsung's website but I could only find the replacement cradle. I've also checked eBay and sites like Amazon.

why can't you just use any usb wall charger? I charge my gear with a 4-port anker wall charger along with our phones. works fine.
I'm looking to replace the oem charger for future resale value. I have a solution for now.

wow. just wow.
resell value... yeah sure, people are gonna pay you more because you have the original charger.
Ok... your opinion is noted, however, it has no relevance to my question.

maybe it doesn't, but your way of thinking is flawed, and greedy.
charging cradle is using standard micro usb connection. 99% of the cables/chargers will work with it. everyone own a few at least, they come with nearly every device. micro usb is present on more than 90% of devices. you charge everything with one cable. yet you are trying to get the original charger - for no reason.
Again, your opinion has nothing to do with my question. My way of thinking isn't on trial here, I just asked a simple question and you're not contributing.

Buy it from someone that charges it from a standard micro-usb, having the original charger sitting unopened inside the box...

I ordered a spare dock charger from Samsung. It came with a wall charger. After discount I paid $18.00. I am using the dock charger in the car so the wall charger is not in use at all. I have no need for it.

I guess I wasn't around whenever you were crowned "knower of all things usb and resale", strange though considering you obviously have no clue what you're talking about. First of all having the original box and original contents along with any item being resold greatly increases the overall chance of it selling, it reduces the amount of time it takes to sell, and most importantly items sold with their original box and contents on average bring in 15% - 30% MORE MONEY than the exact same items being sold without the original box and contents. So wow, just wow, it actually does make a difference whether you want to believe it or not. But I guess whenever you sell something of yours you just give it away for practically nothing because otherwise you'd be greedy right? Let me know whenever you're ready to sell your Gear because I'd be happy to give you $20 bucks for it! Secondly, just because a different cable might fit into the port doesn't mean that it'll work the same way. You're "any old cable will do" theory is kind of ridiculous considering cables by themselves have different resistances which alone could cause longer charge times and faster battery drain, and each adapter has it's own voltage and amp outputs which can also effect different devices in different ways. It's funny how none of those things ever crossed your mind yet somehow you're an authority on the subject. LOL Wow just wow!
