[Q] I am after 1.5ghz+ kernels - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Why do all the popular kernels either not support overclocking at all or if they do it is only about.1.2ghz. I am extremely frustrated because I know my phone can handle 1.6ghz when I used to use miui( but no longer do)
The galaxy s is a great phone but anything under 1.4 ghz just doesn't cut it for me anymore the phone runs like crap.
I am currently on semaphone 2.74 but the max is 1.3 ghz. great kernel but god damn
stop.restricting the oc. its not enough for me. y u no work!
running 2.3.6 jw4 alliance rom v1.
please some recomendations.

Glitch Kernel???

There is one Glitch Kernel For CM9
Gesendet von meinem GT-I9000 mit Tapatalk 2

I'm currently on alliance rom v1 xxjw4 and I'm not moving. is glitch kernel compatible?

anyone?

Samsung ROMs aren't optimized to overclock, so there are no good OC kernels for them. You have to flash CM7 or CM9 and try one of Glitch kernels.
I can only recommend Devil3 kernel for ICS (CM9). It has OC up to 1400MHz, but you can also use LiveOC (up to 120% I think, so you can finally try 1600MHz).
Hope I helped you.

I am going to resurect this thread, cause i just dont understand what live overclock is. Especially when it asks for the targets. I thought it was GPU and bus speed, not cpu??

Live OC is just like "Turbo-boost" feature in Intel Core i-series processors.
Kernel will change CPU frequency to higher (than stock 1GHz maximum), IF it will be needed.
But Intel's "Turbo-boost" technology is stable on "upper-max" frequency, in Android's Live OC you have to check your phone's own "upper-max" (maybe 1300MHz, or 1567Mhz ).

Freezes when overclocking.

So there's the problem. If I overclock my phone to 1.2GHz (or 1.4), it freezes at some point when using it (it can freeze on first seconds of booting up or it can freeze after few days). Battery pull is necessary to reboot it, of course. After that it's working agian but there's a question of time when will it freeze again.
Running CM10 stable, Mackay kernel, using NSTools to OC.

Some phones (like mine) can't handle too much overclock. Most phones can only handle 114% OC to have still stable operation.
Device: GT-i9000
Rom: JB 4.2.1 C-RoM Mix v4
Kernel: Mackay 0.232
Baseband: I9000DXJV9
How do I set the lower value of hertz? Is there any other OC controlling apps for this kernel?

Sorry, in Mackay kernel the intermediate OC 1100 & 1300MHz were removed by its Developer due to instabilities being experienced by users.
If you want a lower OC, you can use another kernel like Semaphore and Devil.
Device: GT-i9000
Rom: JB 4.2.1 C-RoM Mix v5
Kernel: Mackay 0.232

LiveOC or normal? Hardly any SGS handles any more than 114% LiveOC, but if it's not then you might want to try devil kernel for OC stability...

Mine is solid at 124% live oc using semaphore
My semaphore manager app doesn't even let me go past 120%
124%, that's great, but most of what I've seen here and heard from friends makes me think you're one of the lucky exceptions...
Do you adjust voltage?

I used semaphore +nstools without adjusting voltages. Definitely my phone is a lucky exception. It could handle 1.6ghz overclock using glitch kernel (which, sadly, isn't supported anymore)

OC Voltages!! please!

Hi I'm using MiUi 4.1.2 with Mackay Kernel and I want to OC it from 1000 to 1200 but it seems my phone has a lot of "auto-reboots" so anyone know's which custom voltages i need to enter in NSTOOLS?
Thanks in advance!
P.S- OC Might harm my SGS?
which vers of Mackay do you use?
I had also a few auto reboots, but after a few days it stops

[Q] Undervolting my i9000

Hey all..
So i'm following this thread and it asks to find an undervolted kernel :/
Well.. I don't have one.. as well as my ROM is stock JPJV6 GB.. and it's lag fixed.. with vodoo kernel
I looked it up and found that OC/UV Beater2 can undervolt you kernel but it says that my kernel doesn't support it.. what do I do now??
You need to flash a kernel that supports under volting. Eg Semaphore.

Do I have to disable the lagfix? and does Semaphore has lagfix?
I think everyone is using voodoo lag fix nowadays, so it should be fine even if you leave lag fix on. However, make sure you are flashing the version for Samsung rom, not AOSP roms.

You can overclock maximum to 1.6 GHz with NX-Kernel. Use performance Govenor.

Note can only be overclock to 1.6Ghz
CM10.1, AOKP-4.2.2, PA-4.2.2 ROMs use NX-kernel.

Peformance

Hi guys.
My note have Sweet Rom v10, with JB.
But i want increase some fps in some games, like, Real Racing 3, Nova 3. Can I do overclock on note with Tegrak or use any kernel with over, like nx?
Make an swap, and over, the performance gain up or no?
Thanks.
Use COH kernel

I install, but how I take it in overclock, without tegrak?
It is fully overclocked to 400 MHz
