[Q] Chrome Passwords Sync? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there,
I've read in plenty of sites that password syncing was working with mobile Chrome. Also that in the latest I/O they announced going out of beta and supporting password syncing; but then again, other sites said that it will be an incoming feature...
So, is it really working or not? I don't see an option to sync passwords in my Chrome Mobile, I don't know. :fingers-crossed:
Thanks!

I'm wondering this too and been waiting a long time for it to be implemented. I don't want to go to a third party, I just want Chrome to handle the password syncing between devices. I hear that it's being supported but I don't see how to do it.
Okay finally I found the definitive answer here:
http://download.cnet.com/8301-2007_4-57463395-12/chrome-goes-mobile-at-i-o-2012/
The iOS version of Chrome has the password syncing but apparently the Android version doesn't have it yet, but it will be coming soon...

Gmail IMAP fix

Hey all.
So i know that the relationship between Gmail's IMAP feature and WM6 is known to be very bad. I'm having the same problems. Only message headers appear on some emails, with absolutely no body- at all!
I was just wondering if anyone knows of a fix for this problem. I have used the search feature on this forum as well as Google itself and haven't found much of anything.
I've heard of things such as mobi mail (something like that), but im not really sure how it works. Apparently it fixes the IMAP issues with Gmail, but does it require viewing your email by first opening another program? I really like to just go to the messages center of my phone and select the email and go directly to the email. Also, if i were to use this, would the number of new emails show up on the HTC home plugin that i have install on my Tilt?
I know there are alot of questions here, but this is a very frustrating issue, that i'm sure a lot of people have. Thanks so much for all your help! I want to be able to use my Tilt to its best potential!!!
As far as i know there's still no fix for it. I don't understand why google hasn't already fixed this problem.

Android?
I know this isn't really a solution to this exact issue, but I have found the latest Beta of FlexMail 4.0 to have EXCELLENT Gmail IMAP support. You might want to give it a try. The latest Beta has also been much more stable on my device than previous versions of the software were.
I have no problem accessing gMail on my Tilt. whats your issue exactly? Do you have the settings properly configured? -- i;m leaning towards no.
I just use opera mini to access my gmail accont directly.

Hmmm, perhaps rather than replying with this rather unhelpful post you could share your settings.
I too experienced the issue mentioned above. About 50% of my email messages were blank. No problem with Flexmail though. Now perhaps in the last few weeks Google has upgraded their server and the problem doesn't exist, but at the time I reviewed their forums there were SEVERAL others with the same problem and Google's response was that IMAP for WM was not yet officially supported.

Are you using IMAP or POP3, because there a only problems with IMAP. So be sure that you are using IMAP and give then an overview of the configurations you did. If you've got the solution, my gratitude will be great. Thx
ok, using pop3 is just a pain. It doesn't sync with your computer, so you have to read messages twice.... blah blah. That doesnt even seem like it should be an option. Gmail just needs to get their crap together and get IMAP working. there are many other email providers that have excellent support. I have thought about switching, but (other than the IMAP problem) i love gmail!
But, no one has addressed my questions about these other programs. Flexmail and mobimail included. I'm not too sure what these applications are. Could some one explain what they do/ how they work?
Also, will the email notification on the HTC home plugin still function if i do decide to use one of these third party programs?
Google's official statement about IMAP on WM6 (in their gmail help section):
Please note that emails downloaded in HTML format may not be displayed in your Windows Mobile client. We're currently aware of this issue and working on a fix.

well you wouldn't think that it would take MONTHS to fix this problem. especially considering that other ISP's have their IMAP working flawlessly, not to mention the time and effort that gmail has put into iPhone compatibility. How many more Windows Mobile based phones are out there than iPhones????? Yeah.

Is OggSync still under development ?

Hi all,
I've been syncing my Kaiser with Google Calendar using Oggsync during the last two years, without any problem. I noticed on their website (here) that the next stable version (Oggsync 4) will be able to synchronize contacts. Unfortunately, their is no activity on their website since last november. Even the RSS feed seems to be dead.
Do you know what's happening ?
Aurélien.
Hi Aurélien,
I don't know if it's still in active development, but I call tell you I've been using Google Sync (from Google) recently and it works very well. It also syncs contacts.
http://www.google.com/mobile/winmo/sync.html
This seems to do the same thing as OggSync, so maybe the OggSync developers have given up on it?
Well, the good point with OggSync is that it can handle several calendars. AFAIK, Google Sync cannot. But maybe I'm wrong ?

i'd like to know too.
You're right. Google Sync, currently, does not support multiple calendars. I also use Oggsync and sync my contacts. You need the Pro version, though, which you have to pay for.
OK, I recieved a mail from [email protected]. It's still under development, see below.
We don't feel comfortable calling it stable until Google has firmed up their contact API a bit. It's still changing monthly. We are planning to roll in support for the just latest changes into the next major release (birthdays/etc.)

thanks for the info aurelieng. i just wish they could update their website a little bit. instead, it just looks abandoned.
I just noticed that OggSync 4.21 for windows mobile is available. The pro version now allows syncing contacts (not tried yet, but certainly useful).

Any apps using C2DM or cloud backup?

These two sure seem like tasty features, only waiting for a developer to incorporate them to their apps. How come no apps use them yet? Am I wrong, and there is an app out there that do?
Found one, it's funny to see it show up in the Android sync menu
http://code.google.com/p/jumpnote/
And http://code.google.com/p/filetophone/
I'm not sure how to feel about C2DM and the way you sign into your google account after being directed from another site.
I know that Google doesn't share your password only your email address with whatever developer is using the google service.
However, this opens up the "precedent" that it's okay to sign into your google account from a link originating from random websites. So incredibly easy to phish accounts in that manner.

JumpNote is pretty neat!

You do have a point, I hadn't looked at it from that point of view.
Android2cloud uses c2dm and is pretty neat. Would link but can't as my account hasn't been verified by mods yet.
File2phone will no doubt be very useful, not a lot of activity going on there tho by the looks of things!
I would have thought more apps would be using c2dm like Facebook for example to notify you have a new message or backing configs for Locale or Tasker to the cloud would be nice .... not much traction is dissapointing.
awaiting a msn app like ebuddy on the iphone, data connection doesnt have to stay open.

[Q] Configuring Gmail account on WP8

Hi,
I've read several news about google droping support for Active Sync.
Apparently it the deadline was yesterday 31st of July.
I've activated a WP8 device today, and I can't sync Gmail accounts.
I'm extremely frustrated with Microsoft and Google. We users are suffering for their wars...
Anyway, anyone has a workaround?
Waiting until the GDR2 update is not an option, as we got branded devices and may take months until it arrives...
Thanks in advance.

hi
the same way is on wp8 to as i have done on wp7.8
link below

as i now i have heard google have extended th support till 31 dec 2013
Thanks for reading
Good tip! Yeah, the Google ActiveSync server can be configured as any other ActiveSync service (which is how the phone communicates with Exchange) would be; it just requires you to configure it manually a bit.
Also, you can use IMAP to access you Gmail instead, if you want to (or if they shut off the service).
Finally, there's always the option of telling Google to get stuffed, setting up a new email account that you can sync on the phone, and setting rules in Gmail to
A) automatically forward all your mail at the gmail account to your new account
B) automatically send a reply to all mail you receive on your gmail account telling people to use the new address.
Hi,
I managed to make it work.
What I did was the following:
. enable IMAP on the Google account.
. disable threading view on the mobile.
They started working now.

Microsoft Exchange Outlook on Malladus 2.0.2.

Starting Friday 5/9/2014 I can no longer access my Microsoft Exchange account thru the stock email app. It worked previously up until this day on Malladus 2.0.2. I verified that all of the inputs are correct (login, password, server, etc...). Has anyone else experienced any issues with their MS Exchange account? I can login thru my web browser, but I'd like to get the email app working again. Any help would be appreciated!

Did you make any changes on thursday or friday? If not, you might talk to your exchange admin at work. Many companies (mine included) block everything and only "whitelist" certain hardware/OS combinations (I usually have to wait about a day before they whitelist my device/OS after I switch). Maybe they made a change on their end, but at a minimum they might be able to troubleshoot server-side.

Thanks for the suggestions... Yes, I had the admin at work look at it as well. He confirmed that there are no blocks on the account. I'm able to login via Outlook software on a PC, and via web browser, but not the email app on my LG G2. He was puzzled. He mentioned that it sounds like a certificate not authenticating or submitting wrong info to the server. Since it appears to be connecting to the server, but reporting wrong login info. Although we both confirmed the login and password are correct. I even had him reset my password and try it again. I did not make any changes to the account Thursday or Friday.

Have you tried deleting and recreating the account on the device?

Yes, we tried that as well.
Not sure what else it could be. Did you install any new apps last week (esp. anything like an ad-blocker, or anything else that might have changed your hosts file)? Sometimes these kinds of apps can interfere with legit connections (I used to use an ad blocker but it caused problems with my RSS reader).
