Hi,
why not? Jelly bean is just made for Nexus?
Thanks

I think that MAYBE we will get Jelly Bean. Because if not then only One series would get it.
Sensation XL was released in October 2011 so it would be quiet logical that we would get Jelly Bean.
I had Desire HD before Sensation XL and everyone has been saying that there is no chance of ICS coming out for it. But oh, it's coming out this month.
If I am right then there was Desire Series - Sensation Series - One Series
With ICS there was no One Series so last 2 got ICS which were Desire and Sensation Series.
For Jelly Bean I am guessing One Series with Sensation Series. However, my guess is that we will get Jelly Bean in late November or so.

You mean November 2014 i guess
Did anyone consider that in order to get OTA JB they must first make Sense 5 or at least 4.5 to combine it with it. The Legacy of HTC would keep going with new phones for new OS. And i wouldn't bother to wait official OTA JB..... if my phone is still alive by then...

Google rolls out Jelly Bean
http://thenextweb.com/google/2012/0...an-rollout-with-update-for-galaxy-nexus-hspa/

So all we here made a wrong choice or something?
HTC announced they're only making JB ports for the One series, Cyanogenmod for some reason does not support SXL, and while threads for JB ROMs(even if all unstable and pre-alpha at the time) for most devices are starting to appear here, this part of the forum is kinda dead on JB topics.
Are we stuck at ICS, is it too much work, or are there just too few people using SXL phones and devs don't feel like it's worth the time and effort?

we have good developer here. we will have jb.

Yup, i think that we also would see some JB soon. But it is kinda rare to see much from SXL outside. I would not rush to get JB yet.
I would buy anyway a new phone soon, but to be like a Ronin on the way doesn't disturb me much

JB is up and running on Most of devices now..
I saw a DHD Running JB and only few bugs where there..
When HTC Release ICS for DHD, it will get working drivers and JB will be up and running in no time..
SXL is a good device..
I dono why there is less developers for SXL.
Frankly to say SXL is faster than Photon 4g.
Photon 4g suxd even with custom Rom :\

@ h-streety, desire hd wont be enjoying ics unfortunately. confirmed by htc. unless through custom roms from our great devs

Nearly every device now has custom Jelly Bean rom, do we have any devs left?
I know that it's not easy but maybe someone could look into a rom of similar device to Sensation Xl which already has Jelly Bean rom out.

Great news if JB actually makes it into a custom roms into our phone, I just moved from desire to Sensation XL :b
a note apart, there's already a JB for Desire, drivers were backported into 2.6.x series kernel so a v3 is being developed slowly, since the characteristics of Sensation XL are ahead of the Desire, there's a good chance of running it nicely.
Greetings to all by the way

As far as I know there's only a few devs still around playing with this phone. Lex was looking at getting CM9 running and building a kernel. Not sure how far he is with CM9 but his kernel is awesome.

I also plan to do that, but i'm still trying to port a fully working AOSP-based ROM (CM9).
For now, as an update, i've changed the way i will work in the future on the port, it will be slower, but safer and will surely give the best results. My school is taking a big amount of my time right now, but i believe i will release a fairly stable - testing version soon enough, maybe next month, no promises, as for now the port is pretty much in the dark, still trying to figure how drivers work, how the android layer works with the kernel, a lot of research is involved as i'm farily new to this....
But, considering that i recently bought this phone, you can expect a long-time support from me as i'm a student with no money

maby we will have a close to stable JB rom for sensation XL in the start of next year.

[Q] ROM Development...

Hi guys,
I was wondering if anyone knew of any ROM development taking place for our device?
Whilst an official ICS update has been confirmed by HTC, it'd be awesome to see CM/MIUI/AOSP some time in the near future.
If anyone could shed any light on this, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your time,
Jim

Yeah but I don't believe in HTC RUU Update Announcements anymore... They said ICS is gonna on XL, but who knows when...?
I'm gonna count on Capy and his team...
Btw, there are 1 or 2 Custom ROM has made for this device including the famous RCMix3D Runnymede one
Capy does seem to be the only dev releasing custom roms at the moment but I still have faith in other devs! I'm waiting for roms such as litening rom that was released but discontinued on the galaxy s2

Well capy has said he will look into getting MIUI on the XL...
Would love to have a go at it myself... but unfortunately I wouldn't know where to start
Have a crack using dsixda's kitchen at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=633246
the hardest bit is trying to figure out the edify file. so you'll need this, exactly as it is, including the blank line at the top:
Code:
# HTC Sensation XL
change_mnt=yes
param1=ext4
param2=EMMC
param1_sdcard=vfat
param2_sdcard=MTD
sys_mnt=\/dev\/block\/mmcblk0p25
cache_mnt=\/dev\/block\/mmcblk0p30
boot_mnt=\/dev\/block\/mmcblk0p22
data_mnt=\/dev\/block\/mmcblk0p29
sdcard_mnt=\/dev\/block\/mmcblk1p1
apart from that, read, read and read some more about rom cooking, removing apk's etc. once you've done a few ones where you have customised stuff, you might be able to go on to more crazy projects like porting and the rest.
for now, i'm just working my way through the in's and out's of my first rom...just for me, so i can get my head round it. Maybe if i have time and the inclination, i might release one later on once i've got much better at it, but it'll not be anything as good as Capy's stuff...He knows what he's doing.....I don't!
I'm looking for a new device, and rhe XL is one of them....
1 thing that stop me from buying this device is ....No SD slot...
So maybe you can flash BinDroid soon.

hey guys.i just come over from sgs2 and i now have the xl aswell,yeah it seems possible we could get development going and porting DHD/HD2 roms,would involve changing a thew things like the kernel but roms that are already based on the XL are more better to start with

Yes in the ICS source we have everything works apart from MMS. But it isn't a proper ICS build as such, its been built from various sources available at the time to cb.de and he's managed to get it working. Which makes him way more advanced than me
Because in the rom ics tread the bug don't be updated?? in the bug section was written camera don't work...!! if i flash the phone there is a mode for relock the normal bootlader, rom ecc...(delete clockworkrecovery ecc...) in case of problem for the warranty?? sorry for my English...

Would be great if we could get MIUI on Sensation XL. It is indeed a great ROM and I do miss it; it was my favourite ROM on my Desire HD.
Slim chances that MIUI developers will build it for XL, as this is not a flagship phone, even worse htc one x will be coming out in April; but we might get lucky with a port from one of our great chefs.
Yes miui is the best... With ics wre the porting is possible, wait any great developers

Well, I've found this on the web
HTC has been working hard to get its Ice Cream Sandwich upgrades ready, and we’re excited to announce that our first round of ICS upgrades will roll out by the end of March for the HTC Sensation, HTC Sensation 4G and HTC Sensation XE, followed soon there after by the HTC Sensation XL.
In addition, we can confirm Ice Cream Sandwich upgrades will be coming later this year to the HTC Rezound, HTC Vivid, HTC Amaze 4G, HTC EVO 3D, HTC EVO Design 4G, HTC Incredible S, HTC Desire S and HTC Desire HD. Stay tuned for more updates on Ice Cream Sandwich releases in the coming weeks.

The stock ROM from HTC will have all of the appropriate drivers for wifi, bluetooth, camera, cam-corder, etc, so those apps should work better on. HTC doesn't have to release the source code for these drivers.
CM9 and AOSP based ROMS generally have generic device drivers that don't always work correctly or as well as the stock ROMs.

MAYBE JB support from htc in a undefinite future.

Hello guys, to me it's a great news; I'm sorry if it's a repost or a false hope...
Directly from HTC site: http://www.htc.com/www/help/android41faq/
What devices will not get Android 4.1?
We work hard to ensure each of our products has the optimal user experience and therefore some products will remain at their current version of Android. In general, devices with 512MB RAM or less will not be upgraded to Android 4.1. At present, these devices include the HTC One V and the HTC Desire C. As we identify other devices that will not be upgraded, we'll provide updated information.
It should be noted that upgrades are not the same thing as ongoing support. Devices not being upgraded to Android 4.1 will still get software improvements, security fixes, and technical support.

I don't want to break your dreams or anything, but it took HTC almost a year to deliver the ICS update... it is also over 18 months since our phone was released, so HTC don't have to bring us anymore updates.
And as you said, this device wasn't that populare. It got stuck between the Desire HD and the Desire S.
You do the math on this one, I might be too pessimistic to think clearly. And wasn't the ICS update from HTC really, really, sluggish?
If you want official JB, get a new phone... hoping for this phone to get another update from HTC is like trying to talk some sense into fanatics...
Yes ICS made the phone real real slow, like a symbian one.
Maybe HTC won't do an update for IncS but maybe they do..DHD was far more popular than the IncS and it didn't had the ICS Update.
This is good news for the Desire X, and that means, port to us =)
Not looking good I think

If they are "considering" the 4.1 update for other 2011 devices,
So if the Evo3D, rezound, sensation etc are being 'considered' then sorry but we don't really have much of a chance :-\

But hopefully we will get a fully working jellybean built from source like cm10, ect...
To be exact there is cyan x already working great and has a few bugs but hell yea we can use it as a daily driver.

Well, they actually called a new Sense version 4+. Anyway, Sense version doesn't have anything in connection to Android version, or at least it's name. It's just a stupid coinsidence that one of the latest version of Android (4.1) has the same number as one of the latest Sense versions (4.1) and there are no dependensies between them.
