There is battery leak while connected to USB with electricity power connected to computer and the pc is powered off.
I tried it on other PCs and laptops with the same result.
In an e-mail HTC informed me that the device should only be charged by connecting to power line and not a computer and I have a problem with my computers/laptop !
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For some reason the HD7 doesn't seem to charge from PCs. I've tried my HD7 and another unit, and while both show the orange light when plugged into a PC, they're both depleted the next morning if I leave them to charge from a PC.
I've tried multiple PCs' ports, all of which charge my HD2, iPhone, and such just fine-- only the HD7s seem to have an issue.
The only way to charge them seems to be to use an AC adapter (putting out 1A, unlike PC USB ports, which are usually specced at 0.5A).
Anyone else able to charge from a PC?
that's odd. I've been charging my HD 7 with my laptop just fine.
Can't be that all those other sources don't work. Something is wrong with cable or the phone.
Confirmed this with one more HD7 and four more PCs-- not an individual device, PC, or cable issue.
What happens is that the HD7 will charge while the connected PC is on, but then if the PC goes into standby mode, the HD7 stops charging (while all other phones - HD2, iPhones, etc. - continue to charge).
To get the HD7 to start charging again, you need to unplug and plug it back in (it'll resume charging even though PC is still in standby) or wake up the PC.
When I plug in the phone to any computer there is no indication that it has been plugged in. The computer doesn't show that there is a device connected when using usb view.
Comments or solutions greatly appreciated
Try turning off and removing battery for like 30 seconds, same thing happened to me (wouldnt charge or connect to anything)but after I shut it off it worked
When my pc is on and windows running, plugging the XZ into a usb port, the phone charges fine.
However if windows goes to suspend or hibernate mode the XZ stops charging, as if it's been disconnected.
My old phone (Nexus S) when connected via usb would charge if windows suspend or hibernate and even if windows was shut-down it would keep charging (as long as pc remained plugged into mains socket).
Anyone else experience this or got any ideas?
p.s. I prefer to charge using pc as it charges slower and save battery life, plus my wife hogs the mains charger with her phone

i didn experience it !!!
pc shutdown and still charging via usb
however charging is not related to for example pc companion u can disconnect ur phone from data sharing (safe remove) but remain in usb and charging.
>>> check another method of USB connectivity

Thanks for comparison with your rig which confirms that XZ should charge when plugged into live usb port, even if windows shutdown.
I just shut down pc and XZ stops charging, plugged in Nexus S using same lead/port and it charges
I'll try the same using pc at work 2moz
still none the wiser
so I got the same results using my work pc as my home pc . . .
windows running and XZ on = XZ charges, led is orange
windows in suspend/hibernation and XZ on = XZ no charge, led is off
windows shut-down and XZ on = XZ no charge, led is off
so then I tried with the XZ powered of and this is the results . . .
windows running and XZ off = XZ charges, led is orange
windows in suspend/hibernation and XZ off = XZ charge unsure (graphic onscreen of battery but no zig-zag), led is red
windows shut-down and XZ off = XZ charge unsure (graphic onscreen of battery but no zig-zag), led is red
but my old Nexus S charges on both pc's in all of the states tried above
this is bugging me now
I'm wondering if the much higher capacity of the XZ battery (compared to the Nexus S) is demanding more current than the usb port can deliver (unless windows is running)
for the record the two pc's are different hardware
Anyone else tried the same tests?
Any thoughts on why my phone is being discharged when i connect it to my D-Link USB splitter when said splitter is then connected to my PC (Dell XPS12 running windows 8.1)? Running Viper One 5.8.0
I used to be able to plug it in and it would charge. Now it discharges the phone. But i disconnect the computer, it will charge.
It also seems to not charge when connected to directly to a PC running windows 7.
Googled and searched the heck out of this, but haven't seen anything. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
If the phone thinks it is connected to a PC, it draws less power (500 mA I think) than if connected to AC power. So, with the hub connected to the computer, the phone isn't drawing enough power to charge it. Without the computer attached, the phone draws more.
My guess is something on your phone is causing it to drain faster than it charges at the lower rate.
my phone doesnt turn on or charge I let it die without charging now it won't even turn on
Charging doesn't work no led
When I connect it to a PC it doesnt make that sound when you connect USB devices
Please help
I have tried multiple usb cables
