oops! sorry I didn't read carefully..you are on stock kernel..
GingerDX Overclock Module (x8oc.ko v004) give in the gdx thread should work for you..
I think you can't change the frequency of cpu
Sorry I don't know much about stock kernel
I think you should ask this question on GDx thread
1. Download DX's x8oc.ko (search for it)
2. Push the module in /system/lib/modules
3. Edit hw_config and add the following lines: insmod /system/lib/modules/x8oc.ko # x8oc.ko
4. Download a cpu manager app (i use setcpu)
5. Reboot.
Now run your cpu manager app, grant it root, and set you oc settings.

You can try. But DON'T tick "set on boot" immediately check if it's stable first. My phone crashes above 800 tho. But if yours doesn't then it's your choice.

just use freq 720+ and 800- below
it's stable

try root explorer. there are some free apps on the market that would let you do that. the zip didn't work for me either. had to use that method to enable oc.

Hi. I'm new to here.
I have rooted my Gnote, and i dont know wether it is a full root or what.
For maximizing my battery, i underclocked my Gnote by setting max CPU freq to 800 MHz or 1 GHz using SetCPU.
But.. according to the CPU history using No-Frills app, it written there it is still clocked to 1400 Mhz and 1200 MHz sometimes.
Is this a rom problem? Or kernel ?
Btw i'm using stock and SpeedMod k3-3 kernel.
Sent from my GT-S5830 using Tapatalk 2
sometimes setcpu seems to not wanna start after a reboot so I really recommend you start the app and see everything is well in the app and see from there that your cpu frequency does not exceed the selected value. Otherwise I recommend using voltage control. I'm using it on speed mod and all is good for me.
Cheers.

Open super user and double check that its been granted permission. If so open your file manager and make sure you can access the data folder in root and set rw priveledges, make sure you have full root.

Gotcha. Ok did you set permissions on the ko files and put the init script in init.d folder and reboot? There is also the possibility that there has been a kernel change to .232 Which I'm using in the area of the cpu driver. Just make sure you did the steps above and go from there.
48656C70206D6521
You also try to manually insmod the modules using terminal.
Obviously don't use the quotations.
Type "su" enter
"insmod /system/lib/modules/symsearch.ko" enter
"insmod /system/lib/modules/cpufreq_interactiveX.ko" enter
"insmod /system/lib/modules/cpufreq_hotplugX.ko" enter
"insmod /system/lib/modules/cpufreq_smartass2.ko" enter
"insmod /system/lib/modules/cpufreq_pegasusq.ko" enter
"insmod /system/lib/modules/sio-iosched.ko" enter
48656C70206D6521
After a ton of noodling, I got it to work. I switched from .230 to .232 and it still did not work. So I tried 2 more things: 1) I used script manager to run at boot and use superuser, then 2) changed permission of the 90modules file to r-x-r-x-r-x, and rebooted. Fully working now.

i am using GingerDX v29 and i when i installed the rom i installed the overclocking zip. Then i downloaded the SetCPU app and i clicked on the recommended settings, then it didn't let me overclock over 600mhz. i tried reinstalling the rom and it installing it again and it still doesn't work. it worked fine with GingerDX v28b. i think its something to do with the overclock module not being compatible with v29.
I am using stock kernel.
[UPDATE]
i fixed it, all i had to do was to delete the # in system/etc/hw_config.sh file

You didn't need to reinstall. I take it you are using the stock kernel?
Go back to the GingerDX thread and reread the first post. In it, it explains how to activate the overclock module.
I've got the exact same problem. There is nothing on the first post. I tried to manually install de x8oc.ko, I tried the cwm automatic instalation, I tried using set cpu, antutu cpu, nothing works....
I think the module doesn't work with v29

my frequencies are acting weird!,. i install the x8oc.ko module manually by moving it to /system/lib/module then i uncomment the location config inside hw_config.sh then reboot,. then a hw_config.bak file generated and i uncomment again then reboot then another hw_config.bak.bak file generated again but this time i deleted the two .bak files ,. then visited the CPU settings and confirmed successfully overclocked to 691(max)
BUT AFTER A FEW MINUTES AFTER TURN THE SCREEN OFF(not reboot) MY MAX CPU RETURN TO 600 MHz (,. then i try to reboot again then it return to 691 and then again when the screen turns off it return to 600(
Note: make sure you have downloaded SetCPU app
1.First install the overclock .zip files one.
2.Then Go to the original hw.config.
Scroll through and try and find 'modules'
3.Then in the modules it should have the 'x8oc' line.
4.On the beginning of that line there should be a # sign.
5.Remove the # sign and reboot.
6.After that check SetCPU.
