PhoneJoy - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

http://www.phonejoy.us/
It works with our phones but I did notice a half a second delay from an action to a reaction (Super mario world - I press a button, it takes half a second before mario jumps). So platforming may be off the list until the controls become more tight.
A heads up for anyone trying to configure the controller. You have to the keyboard FIRST to PhoneJoy IME running BEFORE you can connect your gamepad, which disables you're ability to enter numbers. So have 1234 copied from a test message and then you can paste the numbers in AFTER during the pairing process.
Also the controllers feels exactly like the PS3 controllers with the one exception of being lighter. (probably because the rumble motors & weights are missing).

Hello, did you find so far a solution for the delay thing? I have 2 phonejoy and i got some issues with it:
=>I have always some error message popup from Bluez IME that are saying something like:
"disconnect, error"...
=>With suerGNES i have an issue with mario kart rom, sometimes during a race the controler is not responding during some seconds, and suddently it will respond again. So far i didnt see the same thing into another game, i'll see.
=>I noticed this input lag issue with another one TV set, maybe it's coming from the TV+Mhl cable, i'm not sure.

Yes I have tried several phones, and even the bluetooth pc options, the lag persists. It seems no matter what system I have used it on, there will always be a half a second lag at least. I regret my purchase now, and have moved on to PS3 controllers that (when compatible) have a better response time.
I don't recommend this device anymore unless you are navigating options menus like XBMC or a music player remotely.

Did you try on another TV? Did you try to set your tv picture settings into "Game mode"?
What about my questions, any clue?

Keyboard LAG

Hi Guys,
I did some research here and on google but couldn't find any good results.
I really have a serious lag in my keyboard, more likely at the repeating characters like, hello or whoohoo ... wil be like helo whoho, ...
Is there a fix or something else. When typing emails this result in a lot of frustation. I don't know how you guys think or experience this problem!
Thnx for you comments.
it's been brought up before but might be hard to search on...
Others have reported that turning off Word Completion and Auto Correct have helped.
Settings --> Input ... Word Completion tab
Give that a shot.
I have the same problem. I've turned off input completion under settings -> input -> word completion and in programs -> xT9 Settings. But when I type the letter A, Q, O, and L it tries to auto complete. Also Z is displayed as X. I installed the AT&T Keyboard fix from TaurusBullba and nothing changed. I am using Dutty_s_hybrid_Rom_Build_18533 Final on an AT&T tilt. Thanks for the help.
I've got the same issue. I've turned off Word Completion, etc. but it didn't seem to make a difference. Guess I need to slow my thumbs down...
Yes, the lag is quite annoying at times. It seems to be less of an issue when less programs are running. But I noticed the problem is not as bad since I stopped using Windows Media Player (which I would run all the time) and started using Audio Manager.
L8
With me the lag was even bigger after I had installed the HTC Touch Keyboard cab, which also xt9. After removing it got a little better (but still there's lag)...
So i guess there is no 1 solution for this keyboard lag? I'm also faced with the same problem I can finish typing my sms about 4 to 5 words faster then it can appear on the screen.
Anybody found a solution?
It might seem irrelevant but it obviously affects any consecutive keystrokes:
Start -> Settings -> Buttons -> Up/Down Control
If you put the delay to minimum, it seems to make things a lot better.
On the contrary, the "turning off autocomplete" solution didn't work for me.
Even though I think this should help you guys as well, I'm kind of pissed off that one has to use workarounds for such an expensive device to work properly. Especially when it comes to the keyboard which is among the top 5 reasons for buying it in the first place. I'm aware of the argument that this kind of thing happens with all WM devices, but still this seems close to unacceptable for me.
All the best

I totally agree, especially for a product that costs €600 or more! Nevertheless it's with all WM and HTC devices, and... has your pc never crashed or do you use a WindowsXP pc which has no tools or addons?

This appears to have fixed it for me, thank you!
This seems to have fixed it about 90% of the time. Sometimes when typing "www." it will end up ww. but that is only part of the time.
Thanks!
Mine sped up somewhat when I did the repeat rate change, but I REALLY noticed a difference when I removed the 3G dial pad and rebooted, seems everything is running faster now, but knowing my luck its a tease and it'll just go back to normal

Very odd, but it works for me. Thanks for the tip!
Up/Down control setting change worked for me too. Now the only problem is I actually get 3 letters sometimes!

Maybe decrease the key repeat rate?
SWEET
the up down to a minimum seems t work for me. any suggestions as to which screen keyboard is better to use then the one in the rom my thumbs are to fat and its hard to use the keyboard when im driving. I knwo tis not safe but everyone does it. i guess it would be safer If my kaiser had bigger screen buttons for ppl with chubby fingers. LOL
thanks in advance.
juanitto
Hi Juanito,
Don't think it's your chubby fingers - we all suffer from it. I've heard people talk about the PCMKeyboard. On the last Roms i've tried, it didn't work, not sure why. I am currently running a ROM that has the Diamond keyboard, which I like too. The only thing I have to get used to is that it has two keys on each button (similar to for instance Nokia) but it is QWERTY (see here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2199341&postcount=15)...
Regards,
Nika.
I do also have the same problems with the whole touchscrenn input.
after some time working around, somehow all inputs have a delay. so for example when I am trying to close a program, the X (to close Prg) animates to be pushed half a second after I clicked on it...
or when I am trying to switch between tabs, it seems as the cpu is hanging somewhere around 100% and you have to repeat your input more times or try to push harder on the screen etc... until the inputs has been accepted.
is that a known issue? its very annoying...
only thing that helps is to softreset the device... but after some minutes the effect starts again...
to dr-house: your problem might be related to the 'htc task manager', especially versions 2 and higher. Disable it's auto start-up and see if you see any improvements.
how do u disable the taskmanger on startup and do the 3G txt thing??

Several issues (Video/Voice command/OCN8)

I just got my TD2 and cannot for the life of me get TCPMP working right with .AVI files. I installed v3 from one of the forums, and can get a couple of mpegs working. I think the issue is the ac3 audio in the file, but was wondering if anyone is having success using the codecs that we used before (flac, ac3 and so on.)
I have also tried installing coreplayer and it crashes on launch so badly i have to soft reset my device. (after uninstalling tcpmp and soft reset)
Voice command will go 90% through install, give an error, then report it installed successfully. trying to use it with the hold button press only gives me the closed dialog sound. (normally you get the chirp for ready to receive, then issue a command, then the close dialog sound) Has anyone gotten this to work? (i am using the purchased version from cd i bought several years ago. )
I also would like to hear from OCN8 users on what they did to get that working before i install.
I appreciate any assistance on this, and have somewhat started to wonder whether is should bother with this.
Damned ipod touch is spoiling me....why can't this **** work? (no acceptable navigation/gps and support for outlook calendars is balls.)
Coreplayer 1.3.2 installed without issue on my TD2. It'll handle pretty much anything you throw at it except MPEG2.
Can't comment on Voice Command, don't use it.
I haven't tried CorePlayer yet (doesn't have a demo), but I must admit to being pretty disappointed with how many videos formats the TD2 couldn't play out of the box.
With voice command on button 1 you are competing with the redial last number function. So, you have to press longer than a single press, but less than a very long press ;-)
I use AEBplus to remap the volume up key so that a short press of that gets me voice command, and a long press is volume up. That way it mirrors operation of voice dialling on other HTC phones I've had.
Filbert
Bloody hell Filbert, you were right about voice command. There is a fraction of a second you have to let go of the button to activate VC. It friggin worked!

Help, Walkman randomly plays music on its own

A few times now, the Walkman app runs itself and starts playing out of the blue. That usually happens during the most inappropriate situations (eg: in a business meet).
The facts I noticed so far:
- The phone hasn't been used for over an hour,
- During that time, it is in my pants' pocket (never happened when on a desk or in a jacket etc. no matter for how long),
- The sound is lower than the one I set before (I don't hear the phone playing on the street or any slightly louder surroundings),
- The Walkman isn't run in the traditional sense: it only appears in and plays from Notification area, with no app's main screen active.
Now, I'm really not sure how can a program run itself when there's no scheduler of any kind, there isn't an HW key-press combination set to run it, no lockscreen shortcut, the earphones aren't connected, or anything remotely close to any of that. Before the problem occurs, Walkman is positively totally shut down via back button and even from within the task switcher.
I've recently updated the program to v8.4.A.3.1, but described problem predates that (not sure which version was before, whichever came with .205).
The only way the application runs is via:
- Lockscreencontrols
- Widget on homescreen
- Application itself when started
I dont think there are any hardware key combinations that let the application run..
Some other point:
- Bluetooth? Do you use a bluetooth headset with controls? > App can start via this aswel
- Do you use stock Sony headset (the one that came with the phone?)
~~Regards

Exactly. And none of those is the cause, checked. So what starts the Walkman (and presses the play button, too)?

No BT.
The earbuds are Philips regular in-ear (not handsfree), but no matter, they are never present when it happens.
I think I saw the exact same issue on sony talk forums. Some user advised to 1. Force stop 2. clear data and cache of an app. App name was either Smart connect or Smart key. Try and see if it helps you.

Please for the love of god, uninstall and disable Walkman and install PowerAmp. It's 1.99€ and it one of the best investments you can make in an app. Hands down best music player evah! :good:
Plus you have 15 days trail, so you can just test it for two week for free and then buy it if you like it. Tho I'm pretty sure you're gonna fall in love with it.
Walkman sometimes bugs itself out at some point in time. I suggest you clear the cache and force stop it for a day. The problem will eventually disappear but if it continues, its most likely a hardware fault

I'll try that and report back, thanks for the suggestion. Hopefully it's not a hardware flaw, that would be a truly bad luck for me with androids.
I promised to report after some time and here it is: after clearing the walkman cache, the problem didn't happen again and seems to be gone for now. Thank @leet95 and @Furrydaus for the suggestion and solution.

[Q] Is anyone getting awful bluetooth reception?

I have a pair of bluetooth earbuds that I use when I'm on the go, and ever since I got my new turbo, they have been constantly skipping and stuttering when I try to listen to music. It's totally ridiculous, the devices are only two feet away from each other, at most! Is anyone else having similar issues?

Hmmm, I wonder if it's motion based. I'm sitting in my room listening to it now and it's a lot better. Unfortunately that doesn't really solve my problem, though.

Rixanu - I think you're on to something... I'll give my "story" and hopefully someone a little more savvy than us can help figure it out.
I switched over from the good ole Galaxy Nexus about a month ago. No major complaints on the Turbo yet as we await Lollipop, with the exception of this Bluetooth issue. I have the Bluetooth paired in the car, and a set of headphones - music and everything worked perfectly on the GNex through the Bluetooth. Now, primarily, it's often choppy (mustic anyway) - for reference, when listening to music I listen via Google Play (all access or whatever they call it now). I figured the choppiness was related to the fact that the music was being streamed since most wasn't downloaded yet, but after very limited experimenting, I believe it must have to do with the physical Bluetooth radio. I had noticed in the past that when the music streams perfectly, a lot of times if I pick it up to check an email, text, etc., it becomes choppy, but thought that was strange since the RAM should be more than sufficient to multitask without choppiness. On my way home from a friend's, I played around and stuck my hand over various parts of the back of the phone, and would press the phone against my pant, etc., and could effectively interfere completely with the connection such that it would be only silent, and not even choppy. Yet, while the music wasn't playing, the track continued to playback on the device and when the music would pick up after I moved the phone, it would be 10 seconds or whatever later as if it had been playing straight through the whole time.
I haven't tested this theory too much yet, but I think combined with your issue, there's certainly something there. Unfortunately, I frequent these parts in order to find answers to these types of issues and don't have the solutions myself.
Do we have lemons, or is this issue prevalent?
I'm happy to provide more info to anyone that can help.
Thanks in advance!
I was having the same problem. It was so bad Bluetooth was completely unusable. I contacted Motorola and they sent me the following steps to try. I worked perfectly. Good luck.
Dear Michael
Thank you for contact Motorola tech support, i send to you the steps you have to follow up to clear the cache for you Driod turbo
Before you do the Wipe cache, please un pair the Blue tooth devices and forget it for the phone, after you do that follow the steps and do the wipe cache.
This will remove any temporary files that may be causing the problem, but will not delete your files or settings.
1. With the phone powered off, press the VOL DOWN KEY for 2-3 seconds then POWER key then release.
2. The device will display different BOOT OPTIONS
3. Use the VOL DOWN Key to SCROLL to Recovery and VOL UP Key to select (I think he meant POWER to select)
Tip: If the device reboots, you may have waited to long to make a selection, you will need to begin the process again.
4. The device will display the Motorola logo and then the Android in distress ( logo with Exclamation mark)
5. Press and hold the VOL UP key for 10-15 seconds. While still holding the VOL UP key tap and release the POWER key
Tip: You can try this step, holding the phone in landscape. If you are stuck on step 6, try a force reboot by pressing the Power key and Vol Down key, and start the process again.
6. The device will display additional menu options (Text will appear in BLUE)
7. Use the VOL DOWN Key to scroll to wipe cache partition and the POWER Key to select this option
8. The device will then perform the partition wipe
9. The device will reboot and start the normal power up sequence
Answer Title: Clear Cache Partition

I think Bluetooth stinks. Poorly implemented, stupid pairing issues, and poor quality. I have had very little success with Bluetooth on any device I have had.
Sent from my XT1254 using XDA Free mobile app
Found a Fix for the Stuttering BT issue. It's the dumb kernel on 5.02 that stutters the playback as soon as screen is off. I used a partial wakelock so the cpu stays active after screen off with this app. It works. No more stuttering. As for speakers that require high sample rate I just switched the cpu governor to performance. It's a workaround but the partial wakelock should work especially on bluetooth headphones. Here's the app's link https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.thedarken.wl&hl=en
Every time I drive away from my house and the phone loses wifi signal, the bluetooth skips really bad during the transition. Once I get far enough away, it usually clears up again. For my situation, it seems the wifi radio is somehow interfering with the bluetooth signal.

Latest Chrome Version Disables Touchpad and USB Mouse

Hi Folks,
Interesting behaviour...
Docked TF701T - Kitkat 4.4.2 (stock, not rooted)
Chrome - 46.0.2490.76It appears that running the above version of Chrome will cause my keyboard dock touchpad mouse, and any USB attached mouse, to get disabled. Indeed, writing this makes me think that the dock has nowt to do with it, but the mouse interrupt handling area of Android is being messed with by Chrome.
Has anyone else seen this?
The behaviour appears to be that everything works fine for a brief moment while Chrome loads up, but after an undetermined amount of time (of the order of a few seconds), the mouse interrupts (I'm guessing) no longer get handled. The mouse stops responding to input, and, eventually, the mouse pointer disappears, never to reappear again (the pointer disappearing isn't directly a symptom - it's simply disappearing as expected in the absense of any mouse input).
Toggling the enable/disable touchpad key has no effect. However, undocking the keyboard, then re-docking brings the mouse back again for a brief period before the interrupts get ignored/blocked after a few moments.
Disabling Chrome seems to prevent this issue from arising (writing this using the stock Browser instead) and the mouse pointer is still happy...
I've not tried the dev or beta versions of Chrome yet.
[Update] Looks like the USB mouse dies, not because of mouse interrupts, but the USB port is getting powered down - as discovered when plugging in a USB hub or memory stick - no LED activity).

From your description it may be more likely to be dock hardware related.

Problem found...
I had a look at logcat, to see what was going on, and it looks like there was some corruption in the sqllite database (possibly due to some catastrphic crashes previously while testing a broken dock). I decided to factory reset the tablet, and, so far, the problem seems to have disappeared...
Not sure why Chrome seemed to trigger the symptons, but hitting reset has resolved it.

Very good. I happy the issue was software related. I sometimes hesitate in reseting factory settings because I fear I will loose something, but it is absolutely the way to go before pulling out the soldering iron.
