Hi
So I have a backup of my stock GB before installing ICS and I want to install the latest ICS rom for my region and I'm thinking of downgrading to GB first then wiping cache, data, dalvik and then flashing the latest ICS.I am on ICS rooted with CF root5.6.Is it safe for me to downgrade with my backup of stock GB(which was also rooted)?I mean restore it from ICS.
You mean you want to do it with CWM isn't?
Thogh 5.6 recovery hav diabled emmc erase cap and safe, But that is not safe as PC Odin.
I do recommend only PC Odin
yes that is correct using restore in cwm.
But a lot of people complain about bootloop and getting stuck at samsung logo after downgrading to GB that is what I am afraid of.
This is common issue and nothing to worry about it
After flashing GB ROM, Go to recovery and wipe cache and data and everything will be fine.
ok then I will use pc odin.
I have the single file GB rom is that enough?just put it in PDA and flash?nothing else?

Don't you ever do that!!!
My note got bricked last night ... Super Brick.
Just because I used CWM to wipe data and wipe dalvik cache.
I was using ICS 4.0.3 DXLP9 as my region is in Indonesia.
Thank god my note still has guarantee...I just bought it about a month ago.
Then today I brought my note to Samsung Service Center to be replaced it's mainboard.
About 1-2 hours I waited for my note.
And It's alive again...
I won't use CWM or any CF Root again to wipe data and wipe cache no more.

Just to make you aware, the same would happen if you perform a normal factory reset or wipe in Stock recovery on unrooted phone. It is the stock ics kernel that is affected, it's not caused by cwm.

When flash with stock rom with odin, the phone no pass from galaxy s picture a reboot and reboot again and try to restore with cmw and the same problem. How i can get the stock rom again? Thanks
wiped AND cleared cache and dalvik?
No, i try this and tell you later...
No man. wipe cache, wipe dalvik, eips factory data and do the same problem, reboot and reboot. But re-install ics and work ok. Another suggestion?
Did you use the option Re-partition in Odin when you flashed back to stock?

What build number is your phone? Didi you use 1 click jf6? You don't need repartition since its been proven the "safe" KF1 1 click doesn't repartition and works just fine.
I trying UCKK4 and flashing with odin and wipe everything. I brick the phone, i think that because the phone show the sing of dead and unbricked thanks to ONE CLICK unbrikable for windows posted by AdamOutler. uuufffffff this safe my phone jajajaja.
Problem Solved....
Hi everyone as you can see i am a noob and have learnt everything within a month from these forums i started off by rooting my note and then i flashed the now famous repack from china and from there i have been 99% of the time using stunner but also liquid smooth. Before i flashed the chinese repack i did a backup in clockwork after all this came out about the emmc problems with the repack i used that clockwork backup to go back to gingerbread and then flashed a rootable firmware through pc odin when i checked about phone i found everything was back to normally including baseband version is back to N7000XXLB2. I managed 2 days with gb then thourght stuff this and reflashed the repack and went back to stunner( i carnt live without tablet mode 160 dpi ) and still on stunner my baseband version has not changed its still N7000XXLB2 ? My question is in my situation would you go back to gb or stay with stunner ?? Also i have bourght a jig which i have used twice to remove yellow triangle. What would you do ?

I did neither when faced with the same dilemma.
I went back to rooted GB and immediately flashed CM9, which is safe, because it is not based on the infamous Repack.
Your modem hasn't changed because not a single custom Rom contains its own radio.
You jig will do fuq all for your Note if, God forbid, it comes to the worst, i.e. hardbrick.
Not even JTag would help you then.
Thanks for the reply is there a noob style instuctions on how to install cm9 and link please lol as i will do it now ! Also i have heard ppl saying that once u have flashed the repack it changes your bootloader and theres no way to change it back is that correct ?

Try wipe data, wipe cache, wipe battery, and wipe dalvik. That works for me when I downgrade to GB too.

Nobody ever says how, but one way is via stock recovery mode: Vol up, home + power at boot up. Then select wipe / factory reset.
Of course you should revert back to gingerbread unless you want to join the party with this guy: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25730932
I flash my n7000 with odin from ics stock back to gingerbread stock.
Now at about phone i have:
Android version:2.3.6
Baseband:N7000XXLA4
Kernel version:2.6.35.7-N7000XXLA6-CL907341 [email protected] #4
Build number:GINGERBREAD.XXLA6
I have lot of force close now.I can`t open even dialer or contacts and i think i factory reset is what i need but i don`t know if is safe.Thx
Yes. It appears you are on a GB kernel so it is safe to reset back to factory.
You are on Gb ROM And factory reset/wipe cache/wipe data all are completely safe.
Meanwhile i rooted phone with cf root and i install Cm9 and gapps.
My phone is stuck on boot screen animation. What can i do?THX

Reboot into cwm recovery, wipe cache and dalvik cache. If still problems on reboot factory reset also but that usually solves it.

Since you are on GB ROM it's safe to reset...
My phone is not modified at all. All I've done is OTA update to ICS 4.0.3.
The problem is that I feel my phone is buggy and gets hot. My Galaxy S2 was the same at first after the ICS update but a full reset and cache wipe seemed to solve the problem.
From what I've read it is not safe to do factory reset on a stock phone if you have the brick bug (I do).
Of course this is something you should be able to do and if the phone failed I could get a warranty replacement, however I'd rather not go through the hassle.
Question is then, what CAN I do? I'd like to factory reset and wipe internal storage to get back to factory fresh.
Go back to gb wipe data and everything and come back to ics
Or
Flash abyss kernel on your note and wipe data and everything
Or
Give your phone to Samsung service center
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Since your phone is not rooted it's not recommendable to flash abyss. It will raise your flash counter and you will loose warranty. Flash a Gingerbread stock rom (original) instead using pc odin. Afterwards you can update again to ICS, once more using pc odin.

Same as I did last night.....Now "Factory fresh" and running Stock ICS rooted and SMK3-7 kernel..
Hi guys. Recently I have been using my phone and it hit 1% battery then went dead.
I charged it and rebooted it but it was stuck on the samsung logo.
I cleared my cache and dalvic but no luck ):
I also tried to Go back to GB stock and when I did it it works but keeps saying android something as crashed and every time I hit OK, It just popped up again.
I tried using Odin on my PC to go back to ICS but STILL stuck on the logo.
Made a NANDROID backup but still no luck...
Please help me!
are you on ICS now? if so, install philz kernel from recovery , reboot into recovery and perform a wipe data / factory reset. this should boot up the phone. if on GB, just go into recovery and do a factory reset

Hi, I did a factory reset. Although it was my final resort.
Do you think my phone will still be stuck when I recover from NANDROID?
if the nandroid has bad data then it will. but still worth a try as you can do a factory wipe to get booted again

Ok I will give it a try thank you I will report back if anything is gone wrong.
+1 thanks
this happened with me a month ago , i installed an app from store and it asked to reboot my device , when i did so , my note lagged on the shining samsung logo .
All what i did is flashing my note with original stock firmware using Odin , and the device still working perfectly till now ..
** my device version is ICS .
** most devices won't loss their data using this method , 'cuz it's like a software update ..
best of luck
