It will take some time to get used to it, so for now I have disabled it and possibly enable it again when I have time and patience, a screen protector and case for it. To play with the tilt scrolling feature, in the case I drop it.

How do you use the tilt scroll?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
I assume you tilt the device up or down and it uses the accelerometer to scroll the page up or down

As I play with th N7, the more impressed I get. Consider, it has 13 sensors; gyroscope, accelerometer, magnetic field, orientation x2, rotation vector x2, linear acceleration x2, gravity xW, ambient light, corrected gyroscope sensor.

what is this tilt scrolling and where are the settings for it?
Just to know that tilt scrolling is causing wakelocks and battery drains because of that..better to turn it off for now..

It's in Chrome Developer settings. It's when you click on the multiple page button (the little icon in the upper right corner of the browser. Essentially by "flinging," the device, it cycles through the webpages you have open.
Did this feature get sent to file 13?
this is great!!! though it does drain battery.

Me too, I wanna know why this simple problem haven't any answer?
maybe it has something to do with the touch functionality of the Super AMOLED display. As far as I know it is integrated between the AMOLEDs. so I could imagine that this is turned of while you switch the display off. and so you can't use the touch sourface for control. but I'm not familiar with the tech specs.
but it would be nice to have such thing if you watch a vid. there you don't need the controls...
we could ask the developer of NoLED. he has some insight about the display and the controls. maybe he has an idea...
Any solution ?
+1 me also want! portable video player,,
Sorry to ressurect this but to some of us tv out is practically unusable (phone gets too hot due to the screen being constantly on. If some app comes around in fixing that would be a lifesaver.
After watching a YouTube video from the app and I go back to the home screen everything is over exposed. the only fix I found was to lock and unlock the screen again. Anyone else having this problem?
I had noticed this once before when using Google Now but I wasn't aware what had caused it. At first I thought it was just the screen but now that I tested it with a youtube video you're right. When it screws up the colors it is really bad looking in Google Now because GNow relies on such a subtle distinction of colors, like the grey on grey. When the screen is working normally is looks fine but after a youtube video it looks really bad, the two greys meshing together. I'm really glad it's just some software issue. I remember looking at the screen once and thinking man those are some bad colors but the screen is really pretty nice when it's working properly.
Yes i do notice the same thing hoping Google comes with an update fast glad to know is not just me

fingers crossed it's a software problem only...

ya, I can confirm this happening with mine too. Didn't know that a lock/unlock fixed it (until a software fix at least). thanks

Probably Nvidia PRISM power saving failing to shut off. Annoying. Software update should fix it.

I'm curious, I'm not seeing any of this and am wondering if you guys are running your screens at full brightness or something.
I have my N7 set to auto most of the time and am not seeing these types of contrast issues.
Sent from my Nexus 7
My Nexus is stock (but unlocked and rooted). I run my Nexus 7 almost all the time at 40% brightness.
I get this over exposed looked after playing most videos. Happens with YouTube, Play Movies, Gallery, pretty much any videos from any source. Turning the screen off and on works. Or I could just wait an minute and watch the screen gradually fade back to normal-ish.
This isn't my only issue though. My screen also seems to be poorly calibrated. Even without the video playback issue, some of my colors are faded, and whites are over saturated all the time.
Don't know if the two issues are related, but I'm going to try exchanging it because some people say theirs doesn't have these issues.
PS. I don't use auto brightness, that makes my screen way too dark (seems my auto brightness setting keeps my Nexus 7 at minimum brightness most of the time).
I have this issue (as well as minor screen separation), but can't replicate it consistently.
I just assumed it was the screen just 'waking up' from full screen mode, it usually goes to normal after about a minute.
Rarely i see a minor screen flicker/ or tearing (sortof like oldschool CRT television flicker on a few scan lines) during this 'recovery'

nope. brightness set to around 25%. like others, I can't always replicate but it usually happens after watching videos. locking and unlocking the device immediately restores normal contrast. This is the only semi issue i have on my n7. it doesn't even bother me that much, knowing it's a simple recovery

the problem lies within the software. perhaps you're a lucky one who is somehow avoiding this problem or you don't notice the problem yet.

I have the same issue with my N7. Android 4.1.1 completely stock, out of the box. It seems to be a problem with the hardware decoder as using software in MX player does not seem to trigger it, but the gallery player does. I see this not just after video playback, but around 5 seconds after starting playback when I begin to notice I'm losing so many details in highlights. A white contrast test on www.lagom.nl clearly shows the horrible detail level. I hope they fix it soon.

I have the same problem but how are you so sure that it is software problem. If it is a software problem then why do you get a screen shot showing no problem when in reality you can see it on your screen that you are indeed having problem on your screen at this very moment.

Another thing is that it only happens if you watch video in full screen. If you watch YouTube video not in full screen i.e. in portrait then there is no problem of over exposed colors.

Hello, I own N7 3G version and I have very annoying problem. My eyes hurt when I read texts. They look little bit blurry and the white is too saturated. I noticed that the greens and yellows are very pale compared to my LG OPTIMUS Black that uses LCD too..Is it me or my device has bad display?

I used to use screen filter, but I ended up shelling out for Lux Auto Brightness. It's just so much easier to use. I thought Screen Filter was a hassle and it needs to be disabled in order to sideload apps because it won't allow you to click the install button if it's enabled.

Lux does that too, but it's smart enough to disable itself for that short time you're installing.
If the text you are talking about are web pages, you might consider getting the (stock Android) Browser.apk out of a AOKP build that matches your ROM base (4.1 vs. 4.2) and installing that in addition to Chrome (if for instance you are using a near-stock ROM).
The one thing that was an immediate disappointment to me for the N7 right out of the box was with the Chrome browser's lack of text reflow when zooming.
The Stock Android browser does text reflow nicely, so there's less eyestrain looking at larger text. Nicer bookmarks than Chrome IMO, too.
It does seem a little more prone to crashing than Chrome - but I use it anytime I want to read web pages where zoom+reflow makes the reading easier.
cheers

Silly question but have you thought about going to the optician? Maybe you have bad eyes and need corrective glasses.
From my Nexus 7
I'm short-sighted - that means I see close objects fine opposed to distant objects. I'm corrected with glasses Anyway. I don't have such issues with ipads, xoom despite the bad PPI of the latter. The color reproduction is wrong with nexus, especially the black fonts on white background - they look too grayish and blurred and kinda blend with the oversaturated white background. Interestingly reds and blues look fine on white background; the same is valid also for the white texts on black background. Not to mention the device has very weak greens and yellows even compared to many mediocre LCDs. No ASUS again

To answer your question. I've used my N7 heavily....hours and hours every day, for all kinds of tasks, and have never experienced what you describe. Each person is different, it sounds to me maybe you're sensitive to something on the device that few others are...maybe its the high PPI? Go try an iPad Mini

I think it is the scrolling, wat makes my eyes hurt. The tekst is building up in a way that I have to focus again and again. The xda app is a example of it.
I get big eye strain using the N7, especially at night !! But only one white pages. This aint just the tab though, I get it from my computer screen also.
Is it normal to be getting eye ache and headaches from whites onscreen?
I ended up getting a browser (Maxthon) with nightmode for my tab, but doesn't help for the PC.
Any ideas how to cause less strain to myself? My brightness is low etc.

for your computer download and install F.lux - at night your eyes will thank you. it takes ~15-30 minutes for your eyes to get adjusted to the color shift. If you really want to see the difference it makes after using it for 2-3 hours at night, disable it and see the results for yourself.
Anyone know a good flux alternative for android? I would assume if they have a jailbroken app for ios they should have had a android .apk.
The lowest brightness setting on the Turbo is still pretty bright. Any apps out there that can dim it below factory settings without need for root access?

I think the brightness is just fine also. Not sure why people want brighter. I figure the brighter the screen the quicker you'll burn out your eyes. I always keep my setting on auto brightness anyways. Only reason I wanted a dimmer app is so I don't bother my sleeping wife at night when I'm on my phone.

I just checked one out in the store and, yeah, was extremely bright. Can't say that for any of the reps, however.
Also check this out https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vitocassisi.luxlite&hl=en I love it!
I'm using "Darker" it also gives you the option to dim the capacitive buttons. Looks great! Free and Pro versions available:

So it is wrong about the analysis about the screen in Phone Arena?.
They said the screen is really poor because the maximum brightness is 248 that is pretty lame to me. Chart is on bottom of page 1.

Ditto to this. The screen gets insanely bright for nighttime use. I also use my phone in direct sunlight 75% of the time. Better than my s4 brightness. I'm not sure what people are complaining about.

Hi. I really like this phone and it almost went back due to the camera being too slow. I started to look for an alternative app and I have found one called Open Camera. Its open sourced and very good at allowing users to have more manual controls. Using different focus options I have reduced the time it takes the camera to focus and I can now capture pics almost instantly. So far I'm pleased and wanted to share with you all.
