Odin woes. Who knows what ' e - big partition size!! ' means? - Galaxy Ace S5830 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have asked this in Q&A but no replies as yet...Does anyone know what the line in Odin, after the START!!! has been displayed:
<1> e - big partition size!! '
means, please?
All the usual stuff has been complied with (cooper, drivers, firmware - tried
'S5830XWKS3_S5830XWKS2_S5830VIRKP1_HOME.tar.md5',
S5830XWKT5_S5830HTSKT2_S5830NEKT2_HOME.tar.md5;
S5830XWKT7_S5830XWKT3_S5830OXFKT1_HOME.tar.md5,

It means the file is big, but it will go as normal.

Thanks for the response, panpjp. It leaves me, though, with some questions still to be answered:
what 'file' do you mean is big?
what partition is big? On the SD? One of those in the phone? Something else entirely?
what is the meaning of 'e - partition'? Is 'e' a pointer to something helpful to know?
the full text of the Odin log is:

...which is not that 'normal' (i hope!)
Know of any Odin manuals/error code explanations, anyone? I read that Odin is 'leaked Samsung code' so even trying to get source is probably out of the question.
Bummer :-(

I guess the directory where you put your odin and frimware is too complexed. try relocating your file in a major directory, like on C:\, and dont put spaces and special characters on files so that odin does not have a hard time locating your file.

For rooting ...
And once you fix your phone, use the upd_1.zip or tass-recovery-cwm.tar to root the phone.
Please note that if you want to remove the lock put in by the carrier, it is a different game.

1 Which version of odin? (Please give full file name)
2. Which firmware version?
3. Have you chosen the appropriate files in appropriate columns - tass, modem, csc, etc? (Or used the one package option - you cannot use one package option for packages with separate files and otherway around too).
4. Are you using the correct USB drivers on the PC?
5. What exactly do you mean by screen flickering?
Can you post output of the log in ODIN?

Per logs, everything is going right. Unless you messed up the order in files are chosen in odin. (tass.ops, csc, modem, etc).
Can you post a video of the flickering problem? You may have to use another phone, and post the video to youtube.
Also, my question remains - was the phone tied down to any particular carrier?
If you are having boot loop you should wipe data and cache in recovery.
If you are trying to flash gingerbread and don't have a carrier locked phone you can try flashing any gingerbread available at samfirmware.com. They work with any region's phone. If you need details on upgrading visit this:
http://yagyagaire.blogspot.com/2011/08/upgrade-samsung-galaxy-popmini-gts5570.html
description about screen flickering because i don't have another phone to take video: when you put on the galaxy you have displayed in the scren Samsung www.samsungmobile.com and the phone reboot in loop and you have every 3 seconde samsung, and i can't turn off the mobile, for turn off i remove the battery.
i don't have acces to recovery mode, i have only downloading mode.
i tried to install new firmware like Gingerbread, but i have the same problem.
Tried installing CWM recovery and then getting into recovery mode?
yes i tried now, and also the same problem.
Have you tried other key combinations? Like pressing the big button in middle while holding the power button?
Yes i tried and also the same problem.

What's your problem by the way... Are you able to see samsung logo or text?? try flashing gingerbread from start. Read this if you have problem...
http://yagyagaire.blogspot.com/2011/08/upgrade-samsung-galaxy-popmini-gts5570.html
And if it is successfull I am sure you'll be able to go to recovery so wipe data and cache there. Otherwise falsh CWM recovery then go toi recoveyr and wipe data and cache...
Remember Home + Power Button = Recovery
the same problem with Gingerbread, i tried 4 version
hi there!
i have same problem . i try to install any rom . on some rom i see big partition size error . i can't power on my phone. does exist any way to format cache or data or any wipe command to clear all data on phone?

Your phone issent bricked,i had the same issue.
What worked for me is installing the Broodrom.
Here is the link : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396837
Everything you need is posted by Broodplank in his first post.
Once you installed it, you can go back to any rom you would like, altough de Broodrom is a very good rom!!
If you have cwm installed, try to format your partitions first?
Hope this will help you in some way,
How can I flash BroodROM if I couldn't go to CWM at all, I don't see if there is odin flashable package...

Odin and the 'big partition' distress

I am currently trying to get stock OS back on my Ace using Odin 4.03. I am (or Odin is) failing repeatedly to do this. After pressing Start I see this:
Download Start...
<0> Create File...
<1> StartThread Detected : 1
......
<7> StartThread Detected : 0
<8> StartThread Detected : 0
<1> setup connection...
<1> odin mode.. check plcatform verification.
<1> START!!!
<1> check download environment.
<1> e - big partition size!!
<0> Destroy instant..
<0> Killed timer
Following other posters' hints I have:
re-downloaded the .rar,
moved the tar.md5 file to a shorter address
changed USB leads/sockets
reformatted the microSD
maybe other things
and nothing has helped [he wept]. What do the lines
Code:
<1> check download environment.
<1> e - big partition size!! '
mean? That might narrow it down a bit.
Is Odin like so many Open projects - totally without any documentation or manuals?
Is there another route that I might usefully take? I don't want to trash it for sentimental and financial reasons.

Just flash it the same way I explained it in my tutorial, btw why aren't you looking for the new tutorial? http://broodplank.net/?p=234
1. stop panicking...you are not helping yourself...if you can still enter download mode (which you obviously can) then you're all good..
2.try restarting your PC (helped me a few times when i got stuck)
3.if that doesn't work try changing USB cable and port
good luck:good:

[Q] SGH-T679 Flash Back To Stock via Odin - Not Writing To All Partitions

I am following the wiki instructions to flash an SGH-T679 back to stock firmware using Odin, using the files at the links provided:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_Exhibit_4G
Prior to this, the only thing I did to the phone was to upgrade to AOSP 4.1.2 using stock recovery, which worked fine.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2081011
However Odin does not seem to be writing anything to either the system or preload partitions when I do this (and now the phone will no longer boot past the splash screen). I have tried both Odin 4.43 and 4.44.

I did notice that the key combination to enter the bootloader changed after I ran Odin: it went from Volume Up + Home + Power to just Volume Up + Power.
I have not attempted to repartition or format the internal memory at any point. I am wondering if perhaps the Ancora.ops in the post above does not match the partition table on my device? Or is there something else I should try?
Thanks in advance!
Solved: the Ancora.ops file in uvlg3.odin.zip on the Wiki page is missing the preload partition. I added "12,preload" to the bottom of the file (per arco's Ancora.ops file found by Google -- can't link to it because I'm new to the forum).

Look just a few lines below that on the page, where it says:
FILES NEEDED:
Download Odin (Google it) and the stock factory images: uvlg3.odin.zip
I found the file, but after making firmware I see the next: "firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Plase select recovery mode in Kies & try again". And there's a mistake: big partition size!!
Where can I find 3-filed firmware for odin?
