So you are already on CM7? Try another OR, like FuFu's mod or AOR.

Hi guys,
I've been having some issues while trying to update my gt-i9000m from gingerbread 2.3.3 to ICS.
I have rooted my phone successfully, at least I think I have as I was able to install super user/busy box/ROM Manager.
Whenever I attempt to enter CWM via the app I am still sent to the default Android system recovery <3e> screen and I receive an error saying E:failed to seek in /cache/update.zip (Invalid argument) E: signature verification failed and am unable to continue with flashing ICS onto my phone. If I attempt to CM9 from there I also receive a signature verification error.
I suspect this may have something to do with Super User failing to retain updates to the SU binaries. When running the update I am told that the update is successful and when I check I see that the latest version of the binary had in fact been pushed to my phone after restarting my phone these updates seemed to have disappeared.
Does anybody have an suggestions as to how I could continue with this update? I am using a rooted UGKG3 kernel to attempt the above.
Please let me know if I can provide any additional information...
You can try using finding a jw4/5/6 official firmware on xda and flashing it, probably ramad's thread. After letting it boot up, then try midnight gingerbread kernel via odin. From midnight's recovery, then try flashing the cwm flashable ics rom. Make sure to back up efs, sd card, and app data via titanium backup or something. Sorry, can't find links for you, on phone.

What kernel did you use to install recovery?
I remember reading back when, don't bother with ROM manager for anything. Getting into the right(?) recovery and having to change zip names....
And presumably you've seen this thread:
[HOWTO] Flashing CWRecovery to i9000m & upgrade to ICS AOSP 4.x ROM from any version
First. I think you need flash clockworkmod recovery, it help you flash a Custom rom

What is your system version, how are you trying to update and what kind of error do you get? If you explain your problems someone might give you a solution.

The system version is in the attached image. i
i've been trying the OTA update, i got a popup a few hours ago.. the problem basically is this, the phone shuts down to install the update, a green android with a blue spherical spinning thing appears, then about quarter of the way (you can see the blue progress bar below the droid) it freezes for a little bit then a green droid with a red warning sign appears with a frozen blue bar at the quarter way point and the phone reboots and it then says 'System Update Failed' once booted into the homescreen

That's odd. Try to re-download the update as it may be corrupted. I don't know of any reason why the update would not be installed even though you are rooted on a locked bootloader.
Manually install the update through Recovery. This will give us the full error.

Hi,
I get an error too when I try to install the new OTA update to JB.
I get this on CWM:
- "Install untrusted package ?" I enter "Yes - install untrusted zip"
With details:
"E: failed to verify whole-file signature
E: signature verification failed"
Next error:
"file_getprop: failed to stat "/system/build.prop": No such file or directory
E: Error in /cache/Blur_Version.81.5.40002.XT890.Retail.en.EU.zip (status 7)
Installation aborted"
So I try reboot system now, but the phone reboot and try ti update again.
What can I do please ? I tried a wipe date without success.
Thanks.
I'm trying to wipe cache and downloading the update again at this time.

I had the same error while I had "[DeOdexed Rom] 81.5.31002 Retail Great Britain" from mattlgroff. Tried everything but ended up getting back to Stock ROM and was able to update normally.
I have a Droid 4 on Verizon ICS. Had Safestrap v3.05 TWRP v2.2.2.1. Removed Safestrap app but safestrap screen appears when booting and the menu is still functional. Still have OTA Root Keeper and it is unrooted and saved. Booted into recovery and tried to apply update from sdcard with the new Blur_Version.6.16.217.xt894.Verizon.en.US.zip.
Get assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/bin/logwrapper", "f39fcb2d78b9e92e9fbedc6a62a047dc23459416", "4a63fec78956def045b442910a753fa640db8f5a")
E:Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip

Instalation aborted.
I tried to follow a Droid razors post on a similar error but could not figure out. What files I need to hunt down and delete? Must have missed some important steps along the way. I could use some help sorting this out.
Thanks for your help.

Sorry I missed the STICKIES. Thanks for the info, though. It took some extra effort to get my phone to go back to stock even using the utility. But once back there, I got the OTA to install. Now, working on getting the new exploit to re-root it.

ClockWorkMod Menu problem look in My Android Solutions
[26] Problem:- ClockworkMod Recovery giving Status 0 error "Installation aborted".
Quote:
Solution:- Most likely you have a incompatible CWM, or your Zip files are corrupted or you have mounted /system or /data
what was your original ROM, if gingerbread, you cannot use semaphore JBean CWM but have to use Gingerbread CWM to flash ICS first than Jelly Bean later.
Check this out! You , YES! you are an " Android ". Not your phone but U.

Semaphore 3.0 is for stock JB roms and there is no such for i9000. Besides, semaphore uses its own recovery that is only CWM based, it isn't CWM.
Which firmware do you have? For Gingerbread you should have flashed Semaphore 2.7.4
The 100% working solution!!!!!
Re-Flash official Samsung ROM and its CF_root. Then install the ROM and everything will work awesome.
Make sure you are installing the ROM made for your i9000t and not for i9000
