Got my N7 yesterday and just loving everything about this tablet but one thing that's bugging me is how crappy the album art looks in the stock music player and I know for a fact all my music album art is 1000x 1000 in size so just wondering is anyone else having this problem or has anyone found a way to fix this problem ?
I am having the same issue..it is very annoying all of my album artwork is HQ as well!
Mine looked really bad yesterday, today they're fine. There was an update to the app that popped up today, don't know if that fixed it or what.
Google music is known to have awful album art, if it even finds it.

Not a fan of the new look for the stock player either the focus on a single song is gone and focuses more on a playlist / queue look thanks to the Nexus Q but hopefully they fix that.
Probably because the Google Music Player app is ugly as sin.

Kinda reminds me of what Google Drive does with my video files. I put an HD video on there and it compresses it down to a postage stamp size that is unrecognizable.
The funny thing is if you put it in landscape and view "recent" the album art looks really nice and high res, then I click on one and play it and in now playing it looks horrible and blurry.

Well start coding. None of those "ports" are possible.

Hello all,
I looked around and did not see a thread like this at all, so I figured we could start one.
Personally I like to store lots of music videos on my phones to watch on busses or smoke breaks. I use a simple YouTube downloader to get my videos. I figure this list doesn't just have to be music videos, but that's all I've tested so far. I will update this post with any suggestions you throw in that you found converted 2d into 3d well. I only have one for the list so far.
MUSIC VIDEOS:
Kanye West-Power
(Just the way the music video is set up, a slow moving picture with the camera slowing zooming out, made for a really awesome 3d effect.)
LMFAO-Party Rock Anthem
(With a lot of what I've been trying to watch, I get a half decent 3d effect, mostly one thing propped forward, this video converted with lots of depths and watching it felt like the video was made in 3d)
If you know of any, do tell.
There's no such thing as a quality 3D conversion, even when done professionally at $100k per minute of footage.
Eh, I get what your saying, but quality in terms of what the phone can do.

So are we talking about GB's new 3D converter or just when you push the 3D button on 2.2 during a video?
I'm just talking about the button pushing. Is there a gb rom that can convert videos? I just bought my phone off a person and it came rooted but I haven't picked a rom yet, any good suggestions? And how does this gb converter your talking about work?

And is your name because you like fight club a lot?

Yeah, TylDurden was inspired by fight club and, Man, I can't stand the 3D "conversion" on the Thrill. I didn't find it useful at all. Yes, GB on the Thrill apparently has a legit 3D Converter for games at least, I assume it works for videos as well.
Yeah, I've found a lot of the conversion to be rather lame, but these videos actually worked well. I'm going to be trying videos soon. I expect inception to do okay, and maybe the green lantern.

Try actual 3D movies on your phone and you'll see what I'm talking about. On second thought don't cause the conversion function will be broken to you like it is for me.

... now explain a little further LOL
How did you get actual 3d movies to watch? Did you stream it from somewhere or have it transferred from a computer and watched in the video player? And what happened to your conversion? Your saying watching an actual video that is made for 3d screw something up with the phone?

Is this possible? I like the walkman app but it kills me to hear that 1.2 second gap betweens songs, especially on albums that are meant to play without gaps. The reason why I wont use another music app is because they dont work well with the lock screen and I like the Walkman app
Would it be something that I could alter code for? Any suggestions would be grand
Not possible at the moment. Sony needs to update it to the new api.

Oh well knowing Sony that will never happen
U know this vexes me also and really does affect listening enjoyment of albums or mixes that are ment to be seamless. You would of thought with this in mind and one of the main emphasis of the Z being the Walkman it's a feature that shouldn't of got overlooked
How do we get Sonys attention that seamless playback should be a basic feature that should appear in a later update?
I s just ridiculous. Sony Walkman not handling gapless. I mean what a joke. I mean I've had physical walkmans and discmans since the 80's and gapless was just part and parcel of media based playback. I mean imagine if you bought a CD player and it didn't support gapless. Inconceivable. But in the mp3 world it is just such an oversight by idiot developers living in a frigging world of shuffle mentality. I listen to albums. I listen to concerts. Lack of gapless makes them utter worthless junk. And I gan't even believe standard android didn't even handle it until 4.1. 4.1! I mean what are they thinking that gapless isn't a tier one requirement for a bloody music player? It isn't a refinement feature, or nice to have.
Android had gapless before but updated the system and we lost it ugh

Yeah? Which update. Google play music, latest update from my listening is fine on 434. But Sony Walkman, no. Or are you saying that Walkman was fine gapless wise on 350?
I think it was android froyo on x10 and x10 mini - had both
Just the regular music player as walkman wasn't around then

The htc voice recorder app distorts with live band sound levels. The video camera records beautiful clear undistorted audio of the same band. It seems htc didn't put the same brains into the voice recorder app... It'd be nice not to have to waste storage on video just to get good live music audio recordings. Anybody know how to fix this? There don't seem to be any gain settings in the app...
You could always record the video, go home and extract the audio with a PC application then delete the video.

thanks for the suggestion, i did end up using the video app to record, then found an app called "Android Audio Editor" that could actually transcode mp3 audio from the mp4 video right on the phone. It's a 3 day trial of the app, but it did a nice job. Here's a sloppy rehearsal of a live recording in a small room with live drums. Pretty impressive for a phone!

There's an update being released for audio and camera.
For sounding like garbage, that mp3 you posted sounds pretty damn good. If that makes since.
I tried to record Joe Walsh on my 3d evo at the Rose Garden ( Portland Oregon). It sounds really bad...Distortin' Mortin.

thanks! i'm very happy with the camera video and audio quality now, i'm blown away by how good it sounds and looks! it's great that HTC wen't above and beyond to create such an amazing multimedia experience with this device...
didn't mean to confuse my question... the mp3 i posted was the audio extracted from a video camera recording, not the bad one from the voice recorder app... for comparison, here's the bad distorted audio from the voice recorder app https://www.dropbox.com/s/d8nksirjxneivkg/Voice0002.aac )
I've gotten some decent "live" recordings using the earbud mic filter. Just plug in the beats earbuds and record with the system app.

Interesting, I haven't tried that, I assumed that was a mono Mic. (Maybe better for covert bootlegs?)
I'm really excited about the great stereo dual membrane mics on the One, they sound impressive for music taken from video, we just need to find an audio only app that can take advantage of the great mics correctly.
Irig seems to be decent. If you register you can optimize the audio some.

I love the video highlight feature of the phone where it takes the days photos and videos and edits then to music. But when you save one of these videos it compresses then down to such a tiny file that the video and picture quality is pretty awful. Share the saved video to Facebook and it's watchable but not very impressive.
Anyone else notice this issue?

Ive definitely noticed this. I went into the gallery see the Zoe's themselves are like 30 megs each, but somehow im compressing 15-20 of them into a 12 meg file?? Quality lacks, but only when you save. Wish there was a way around this....
