[UTILITY|S-OFF] RegawMOD Bootloader Customizer - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

Description
regaw_leinad said:
RegawMOD Bootloader Customizer is a utility for Windows that allows the
user to create a custom HTC firmware zip containing a custom bootloader image.
With this program, you are able to edit the *** UNLOCKED *** text on the top
to whatever you want it to say, change the S-OFF to S-ON, change the bootloader's version number,
update the bootloader's date and time stamp, and hide/customize the splash screen disclaimer.
Choosing the "Stock" look option automatically sets your banner to *** LOCKED ***,
changes S-OFF to S-ON and hides the HTC Development Splash Screen Disclaimer.
This program will NOT flash the zip for you, but it will allow you to save it to your computer to let you flash the zip yourself.
The process (flashing a new bootloader) is dangerous and may possibly brick your device if done incorrectly. You have been warned.

How To Flash A firmware zip
Place the zip on the root of your external sdcard. (Copy it right onto your sdcard, not in any folder)
Reboot the phone into the bootloader by either:
Powering off your phone completely, then hold Volume-Down and Power until the phone boots into the bootloader
If you have the android sdk set up, type 'adb reboot-bootloader'
Then select the menu option "Bootloader" and press the power button.
If you rebooted the manual way (Volume-Down + Power) You should already be at this menu
It will load the zip from your sdcard and ask you to accept the flash.
Press Volume Up to flash (On most devices, but could be a different button)
Once prompted, press Power to reboot (On most devices, but could be a different button)
Pro-Tip #1 (thanks dsEVOlve): Remove the firmware zip from your sdcard so it doesn't load next time you enter the bootloader.
The Splash Screen Development Disclaimer customizer is not supported by our device because we don't have the Disclaimer.
If you want stock just click "Show S-ON", keep the version at .0025, and enter the banner text as "*** LOCKED ***".

Lol...I don't even know what the disclaimer is...I just said what I said cause of the part written in red
Is the disclaimer like a normal disclaimer that warns you about stuff/do at your own risk? Or is the disclaimer being referred to in this thread something else?

hey @cruzin_cruzing do you have a mirror by chance http://goo.im is down ATM

For some reason, when clicking stock it says
"Can not select 'Stock' look.
Plugin developer cruzin_cruzing has the following permissions disabled:

And another question, I've been looking for a stock hboot... is the one in the folder a stock ics one??

Read the OP for stock look. No this modifies the Juopunutbear ISC hboot which can also be seen in the OP.

Why is any one can't create a software to s-off ??
not to s-on

I wish they could also for s off but it harder then it would take BC you to have to actually open up the phone which sucks

Whoa whoa, question. If a phone has a stock bootloader...will this program not be able to modify the text in the stock HBOOT? Will that result in a brick? This would be very important to know.

You should automatically know because the title says it's an utility for S-OFF. Just as long as you're S-off it should work.

Has anyone tested this method yet? I need to have this phone replaced and I'm trying to make this as simple as possible.

Hi, is it possible to use this on Telstra Vivid (Velocity) too or is it just for AT&T Version?

How do I get s-off with this thing? Do i check show s-on and then create zip or do I leave show s-on unchecked and then create zip? I think I did both and it still says s-on in bootloader.

Do the wire trick in the stickied forum to get s-off

Hi thought i'd share this tut i have not seen many things on this.
# Note: I am not in anyway responsible if you brick your phone as this can be very dangerous Good Luck
First you need to flash a new spl version, you can go ahead without and try if it works but it's most likely not going to let you with out changing your spl to an unlocked one
Use the SPL below, flash it as if it were a rom, once flashed reboot it will boot into recovery again, leave it for a little while then hit reboot your phone should then boot up normally. View attachment update-hero-hboot-1.76.2007-signed.zip <-- (SPL)
Now either download this (Click here For Mirror's) (Splash Screen maker) to make your own splash screen out of an image or download one someone has already made (PM me if you want me to do a personalized one for you also include what you want on it and what you want it to say ), here is a cynageon mod one i made if you want to use it (extract the zip and its the .rgb565 file you want)
{

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
View attachment splash.zip
To make your own create an image with the correct resolution and open it with createG1slash.exe from the splash creator zip file you downloaded, then click convert, in the same folder the program is in you should now have a file either ending in .rgb565 or .nb it doesn't matter which one you have as long as you have one rename it to splash.(Then_whatever_your_extension_was) and move it in to your android sdk tools folder. Next open cmd and get to your android sdk tools folder in that. (Make sure your phone is turned on with usb debugging also on)
then in cmd type
adb-windows reboot bootloader
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
your phone should then boot in to fastbootmode let it do that then next type
fastboot flash splash1 splash.rgb565
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
(or .nb instead of .rgb565 depending on what file type your file was)
If you get an error message doing the above and havent flashed the new SPL that means you will need to flash it as you have a locked SPL
Then lastly
fastboot reboot
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Hope you enjoy your new splash screen
For the (almost) stock Splash Screen go here
(o'.')-o Q('.'Q) <--- lol
Maybe also supply a MD5 check thingy as Ive heard that playing with SPLs can lead to brickage issues if the download is corrupt.
But thanks for the share pal, bookmarked for future ref.
Thanks again.
Thanks for the info I will look for one tomorrow, your welcome

i've got one now but im wondering how would i use it with the attactched zip ??
So you need to get the MD5 check sum for the original file you have on your pc. Then just put that long code up in your post so when people download, they can check the MD5 on the file they have and cross reference to make sure it is exactly the same as your copy.
Ah okay thanks will do that asap
Thanks got the MD5 sum andput in op

Nice pic Yeah sure will do it right away (btw just saying i don't know if having bright backgrounds will work i will test on my hero first then upload also i will do a couple for you like i did for Lord Lucan ) Oh and also just checking this is for hero just couldn't help notice the x10 bit
Here you go (i havent tested the red background one but the worst that will happen is you put it back into fastboot and flash a different one (i think))
If there not what you wanted just say and i'll do some more
Just one more.....
Is there anyway to flash original before selling the phone?
Yeah sure i will look around for the original then upload, How come, you selling your phone or is it a just in case situation
Here you go it's not exactly the original but you'd have to be very good to tell the difference
Brilliant thank you, yeah I occasionally swap to her x10, but this is for my hero
Sometimes the hero drives me so crazy, I jump on her x10 and use that for a while, but I can't help coming back to the Hero...

[Q] reason for s-off ?

this may seem really stupid but is there a reason i need s-off ? becase with s-on i can still flash roms that are prerooted so i can still run superuser apps so really whats the point is it worth downgrading hboot to soff?

With unlocked bootloader, you may have to flash boot.img separately with some custom ROMs which has caused many questions and issues for some.
You can run custom recoveries, which allows add more functions, like backing up, flashing other utilities, changing system binaries. Without S-Off you can't run Clockworkmod recovery.

That is not entirely correct.
If you unlock your bootloader using HTCDev.com procedure (which the OP has done), the HBOOT screen will show S-ON, but you will be able to install custom recoveries and perform backups, install SU and root the ROM, etc.

You void your warranty when you S-Off as well, but you can restore it to a factory S-On, I'm not sure if you can do that with the HTCDev method
Having S-off is like going on a weekend trip with a pack of condoms and girls of your choice. Going HTCdev unlock is like doing the same with your parents or worse, a chaperone. In eithe case, you void your warranty, but if needed, you can always revert to s-on for warranty claims with none the wiser. What would you choose?

I have a Vivid that has been "abandoned" since I got my GS4. I did like that phone, but didn't do much after rooting (still stock ROM, I believe). I still have my unlock code bin file and would like to get this device up and running again after I get a new battery. Is your utility something that I could use to update my device?

so i take it the at&t version is out to.
Will it be possible to root it without overwriting the existing recovery? When I get mine, all I will want is root access on the stock build after I've run the HTC unlock. Otherwise you run into problems getting OTA updates as released.
I had a similar issue with my HTC One X, but thankfully was able to get the original recovery to push back onto it after installing the SuperSU app with the custom recovery. Would rather not have to wait until there are updates out there before I can do the same thing with the M8!

As i said in other posts, I don't think that the bezel is touch sensitive... It would be a complete nonsense (but great at the same time) since the buttons are on the display itself

You could also rename it to 0PJAIMG.zip and have it on ext SD. Boot into download and it'll ask if you want to update or flash it or something. Only thing is I think there's still a period from the red text but looks a lot better.
Will fix it tomorrow thanks for the heads up
Has this been tested? For peace of mind could you post a pick of the splash without the red text?
Updated links minor fix!!

Doing this gets the same job done.

I flashed the one from the WWE variant. It worked very well. LTE works great with it, and call quality is great as well. Just a thought for everyone. Thanks for posting this for everyone! Cheers!

That thread is for changing the software status from Tampered to Official. This one is for removing the red text that appears on the splash screen.

That's magical, since that is not what it's designed to do.

Maybe the tampered flag has something to do with the red text appearing. I've never flashed a modded boot but the red text is gone.

Well it didn't remove mine, or anyone else that I know of besides you. You should post that in that thread. I'm sure the dev that created it would like to know about that.

Is anyone else left with a red dot on the splash screen after flashing the ABOOT?
nope, mine is how it should be, can you post a pic? maybe try reflashing it over again.

Sorry for such a late response. I haven't rebooted in a while and I totally forgot about it. Here's a picture, but I'm going to try reflashing and see if that fixes it.
