Hello guys all of you know that we have 512MB ram I want to know if i can add some to ram form sd card or by overclock it such as the computer's ram so how?? or it's possible (I am not believe any thing is impossible )
is this work? https://play.google.com/store/apps/...t#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImx2Lm4zby5zd2FwcGVyMiJd
It might be possible to use sd card memory as ram but it wouldnt be as fast as a real ram
Ram chips are aweful fast
I think though that for this processor it wouldn't be an inconvenience
Try it

You can remove the swap file from your sd card using a file browser like astro or something
I'm using swap in my old gt540 for about 1,5 year and card works fine. I don't feel like I need swap in OB for now
My problem is in games if ihave 180 free ram or less the games lags so i want to get more ram so No ideas????

Depending on how fast your micro-SD is, it may actually degrade performance. Best case scenario, it beats your memory card to death - albeit slowly.

Yeah class four is good, without swap some heavy games force close after abit and its laggy when playing. After swap no force closes and no lag. I use class 4 btw.

Sorry to sound like a sour-puss earlier. Improvements also depend on the ROM, the app in question (size, how much in resources it requires to run, etc). Those are the real variables. Card speed comes a close second. If YOU actually require it is the prime determinant.
Edit: I have a 16GB class 10 card. It's beautiful. But I personally slimmed down my ROM to minimize overhead. Plus weeding unnecessary processes hence, improvements are marginal.
Hi guys,
i flashed zeus rom 6.39n two days ago
and tried to make swape file using swapper2
but always says fail...so it is supposed to be a custom rom
where every thing is possible
ao any help here ,,,
Swap is slow and your performance will suffer badly. Much better idea is to use memory compression from CM.

Use an app called swapper 2 in Play Store. Its free. Note that this worsens the SDCard Life.

As far as i know "swap" has to be supported by the Kernel.
And i think you dont need it cause there is enough RAM.

OB has a very weak RAM. Its 512mb is mainly eaten by Android. Leaving 200Mb+MAX left.
In average performance ROMs, it made OB leave with 160+ Mb
Sent from my LG-P970 using Tapatalk 2
Using the SD Card as a swap file is not a good idea. It's slow and will very possible make performance worse. In the KU5900 there is a partition for swapping on the phone itself and of course that kernel is built to handle it. The P970 can't be repartitioned to have a swap file on the phone itself, because it will make us lose space from userdata and we can't make the relevant changes to u-boot (We can make the changes to the partition header but then it won't boot ).
If RAM is a problem rather reduce RAM Usage by not having Widgets and not having millions of programs running in the background and use SuperChargerV6 that help a lot!

And that's not enough? I Think swap would'nt have a positive effect.
If that were so, there would have been someone implemented in its kernel.
Be careful with swapper, I used it and got perma-brick (the phone just didn't start, I could not enter s/w upgrade neither. I ended up paying 100 bucks for motherboard change.

i already gave away using swap because what i heard about its harm
and i use original mem parametars of zeus 6.39 and its sooo good
and play any apps in parallel so easly
soi curreltny made a 256 mb swap file and using v6 supercharger and everything but i didn'treally notice a difference in game performance , i can open like 5 apps but games nbot really?is it normal?
The smoothness of games depends also on the power of the cpu and gpu, which isn't the ace's strenght.
Swap helps for multitasking and keeping apps in memory longer (which reduces app loading time) but it won't make games run better or faster.
I guess little bit it help in performance of game as its usefull in load game data faster !

If your sd card is class 6 or lower, it can even slow down your games
After installing some heavy games, there's really no gaming difference. Only multi tasking has drastically improved.
I even tried out JB this afternoon using this same method and it still didn't make a gaming difference. The multi tasking is awesome though so I have no complaints.

I bought an extra one just for swap. Bought a 4GB class 4. Not risking my 8GB. It's hard on a SD with INT2EXT+ also installed. I don't know how long it'll last but once you got swap, you'll never go back.
I can play Tank Hero, switch to facebook on Opera Mini while answering to chats on WhatsApp and IMO instant messenger. Without having my game interrupted. AND run a bunch of widgets that would slow down my phone. Multi-tasking is incredible.
And the best part is, since I'm using a swap file and not partition, I can shrink or increase the swap size at will

Swap is pretty useless on mobile
And you get a dead SD card with it too, like those buy one get one free in shops

Don't generalize. It's useless to you. I bet you haven't even used it before.
Hi there,
I preety much love this phone, but it has a minor issue.... low RAM. This can slow this bugger down even freeze it, multitasking is not a very good experience and using task/ram manager it's a fu...g annoying thing.
What I know: memory swaping exists for android, so in theory we can use a part of our internal storage as "RAM". What we need is a kernel that supports memory swaping.
There are a few kernels out there, bit none supports ****, not even OC. As I saw, Mokee kernel might be more advanced and might support OC.
I'm not a dev, I wish I was, but can't do it...so I'm asking our devs...can you do it?

you cant just use your internal sd card as RAM. What you mean is to use your sd card as swap. The phone saves the data from your RAM to your sd card but it is not as fast as you real RAM. At least it shouldn't. And i have no problem with mutlitasking. 1 GB Ram is enough for me. An there a kernels which support overclocking. Open your eyes.
I hope I told nothing wrong to you

Install a custom ROM like CM10.1, install Greenify and Greenify anything that doesn't need notifications.

Yes you are right, that's why I said "RAM".
And multitasking is when you don't have to wait for an app to reopen, I have the browser that constantly gets killed by the system, annoying, other apps too. The phone itself does'nt realy need to be OC'd, it just needs to be improoved, kernel level...governor and scheduler. OverClocking will not solve our lagging issues. Another kernel prob is waking the phone up. I know it's hard to do it, but the community can do it, there where Lg and HTC did not.

Try please this kernel and you would like forgot lags (For CM 10.1)

V6 adjusts memory performance by changing the OOM values and PDI is just magic

My mobile is getting slow and when I checked the RAM, it is showing that it has 342MB RAM and usually it is 50MB free and by using RAM Booster, I was able to increase the free RAM. But, is there any way I can increase RAM of the mobile, as my mobile is getting very slow and sometime, I have to restart my system, and even power button doesn't work and i have to take out the battery and put it back...

In android free ram is wasted ram theory....so if things work normal...it's ok
But if the problem is getting slower and no response...then best is use greenify app and make the apps to hibernate....
It works to some extent....But then it is better to use min free manager too
Sent from my LG-P990 using xda premium
it also depends on what rom are you using, it has effect on ram usage. for example I'm using tonyp's cm10.1 and everything works well. I never check free ram as I don't have to, every app starts quickly and work smooth, even though a reboot a day is needed, but it worth it as I'm using this for more than a month now, without any flashings.

A little tip that works for me on v20l is to go to Settings, Display, Display Font & choose any Font as it will ask you to restart your fone. This way, you don't have to keep doing a battery pull lol. Not to sure what rom your using but on stock 2.3.4 - you don't get the option of a reset.

On the ICS/JB selection of the fonts from the settings does not requires the restart...it takes 2seconds after selection.
So, this is not true for ICS. Applicable for GB only(maybe Froyo too)
There is a way "to increase ram". It's called swap. A program could create a swap file on your android system. Not needed files which are "on" the ram will be copied to the swap file and deleted from the ram.
Maybe this app works for you: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=lv.n3o.swapper2
You should notice that a higher "swappiness" means, that the chance is higher for the data to be copied to the swap file. As you can see, it is something like a virtual ram expansion.
