I want to know my phone model cause it doesn't show the model screen while it boots up.
How can I confirm my phone model?
Go to settings and open "About phone"
You must see model number
Sent from my GT-S5830 using Tapatalk 2
Or open up the back cover, pull out the battery, there should be a sticker there with the model number on it.

I found AndroidScream V1 by Qeemi to be the best ROM for my needs, and i flashed it using CWM. However You can try different ROMs and decide for yourself which works best for you. btw almost all of the custom ROMs need CWM to be flashed
For me the best rom is MindCr Rom, you can search it in google because i cant post links. The post is in htcmania spanish forum, but isnt difficult to understand.

like I have said in another thread if would be good to confirm what the differences between the 30i and 39i are but know one seems too know what they are..
as to flashing roms I can confirm the rooting method works fine without any errors...

yep funny one..
google doesn't always have the answers!!!
I am an advocate of searching google that's how we found the rooting method for the 5839i..one final point google comes up with nothing what so ever... s5830 and s5830i but not s5830i and s5839i... hence would seem NO one knows.... now that would have been the best answer lol

I too have been trying to find out what the differences are between the two devices. I'm reading differing reports of S5380i ROMs working and not working with the S5389i and can ind no-one who can give an answer, as you stated, Google has been no help in the matter as there is still no response of you search for difference S5830i S5839i. I always seem to get the same sort of unhelpful responses as above. I've even found an unbrick method that uses a Galaxy Y baseband. I'm still digging though as would like to understand before I attempt to root and flash a friends phone.
tried AndroidScream v1 and MindCr v2.3
both are good

Do not flash anything from S5830 or you will brick your device.
S5830 and S5839i aren't the same.Your S5839i is the same as S5830 with "i".
Use CMW 5 for S5830 with "i"

Yes, it definitely can't work, at least for most devices. Like once, I accidentally flashed the wrong firmware for my friend's Galaxy Ace, and it couldn't boot up, just showing a white screen.
Hi there,
Hi all, my galaxy ace s5830 can't boot into download mode at all, the phone was bricked as i flash to s5830i rom. It is totally bricked. Nothing appear, i tried so many ways but it is still the same. I think it is hard bricked. Anyone can suggest a way how to boot into download mode.
Thanks in advance
If you can't boot into download mode, that's probably the end of your ace.
Sorry, mate.

Try this-
Remove Sim card, memory card and battery.
Press home + volume down + power and holding these buttons, ask someone to insert the battery.
That may do it.
Best of luck.

You can't install any ROMs for the S5830i on the "normal" S5830.
I think that this is the reason for the brick.
Good luck!

So building or buying a USB Jig would would be cheaper.

Give the results on how the USBjig worked Anticipated!!!!
The usb jig doesn't work on my galaxy ace... i send it to repair shop, they told me motherboard broken, so better throw it n buy a new one. Cost of repair will be enuf for us to buy a second hand galaxy ace.

Motherboard broken? Really?
I can't believe that. Why should flashing a ROM for a different phone model break the device?

Hard bricks render the motherboard useless. It doesn't mean that it's physically broken ( just in case you've misunderstood.... ). I dunno the details of how and why It happens. But it is feasible that that op might get a motherboard of some other device for his phone in case if that of ace is outta stock.
