From what I have read about this mobile so far, it does not allow that. Atleast out of box. Devs might be able to "enable" it if the functionality is built-in but locked down.
Mentioned here as well. So best wait and see.
And by the way, welcome to xda-devs! Hope you like it here...
thanks ...

Any updates on this issue?
I would love to have my HD2 connected to TV using HDMI
i've read many articles about that but the only answer is NO, it isn't possible.
I don't think so, Tim.
I have a usb2.0->dvi adapter and I`m going to try it with my hd2 (android 2.2) within few days via micro usb 2 mini usb cable. But I`m pretty sure that this junk won`t work because of lack of drivers.
Nothing like that is going to work as of this moment. I have read that HTC is going to release a DLNA adapter for TVs to have access to streaming media, but it's not till around Feb of next year (and who knows what can happen between then and now). It seems it'll connect to the TV via HDMI cable and if you would rather not use it as a wireless streamer then you could just plug it in via cable (who knows how compatible it will all be though). So in a way it's closer than you think, but still far away and HTC could come up with some bogus excuse to not release it.
shame on htc...
I want to buy lg 4x hd but I'm not sure whether it supports usb otg or not ? (or usb host)

Unfortunately it doesn't, at least right now. We're still not sure if it's a hardware limitation or a software one, but maybe in the next few months we will, with the coming of Custom ROMs on top of the unlocked bootloaders.

I'm still inline for buying it, but I guess it depends on your needs and wants
I want a replacement for my Samsung Corby that will (1) last me 3 years or more without feeling like something from the last century, (2) allow me to play some games, from basic ones to the more advanced ones and (3) something I can take everywhere without thinking about it (unlike my tablet). All of it without (completely) breaking the bank
That list got me to the 4X. It's the most affordable quad-core, and that gives me a guarantee for (1). It's a Tegra 3, which gives me a fair try at (2) at least for a year or two. And, with a 4.7" screen, it's smaller than many 4.5" devices I've seen (and unfortunately quad-core devices seem to be allergic to anything smaller than that).
Btw, it doesn't hurt that it allows for connection to a HDMI TV through a MHL adapter.
The USB-OTG feature is, unfortunately, also missing from some other competitors on its price range (like the Nexus 4), which also lack other stuff I value, like expandable memory. And, while the gaming compatibility might be better in the Nexus 4 and the S3, I don't mind missing a few games to have better graphics in the ones made for the Tegra 3
As a way to go around the USB-OTG, I intend to buy a large-enough micro SD (16 or 32GB) and take advantage of the ICS/JB USB transfer, which is much better than it was on my Froyo tablet.

I had tried to plug into my 4x a card reader with red power indicating led. The led will light up on connection regardless of presence of card.
However it did not light when i connected it to my 4x, indicating no power was sent out of the usb port. My guess its a hardware limitation.

That would mean it can't power the USB device. So, an interesting test (which I remember reading about here somewhere, but don't recall the result) would be trying to connect either a 3.5" portable HDD (that comes with an external power source) or an externally-powered USB-HUB.
Can anyone try or, in case they already did, share the result?

i tried that too, nope. Nothing shows up on USB Host Diagnostic app.
Tested using external HDD with two USB males (one for power one for data). Plugged the power end into my PC's usb, powering up my HDD. then plugged the data end into my OTG cable. Nothing.

If it is a Hardware limitation then we wouldn't have OTG ever on our phones, even with custom ROMs.
Tho we would need official confirmation from LG, if anyone has it.
it isnt a hardware limitation. tegra3 supports usb otg. you can see that on kernel logs and the kernel actually has usb otg support enabled. my guess is that android doesnt handle it properly.
when you enable it on o4x, usb switches to host mode successfully, but android doesnt recognize it

So it's all an LG software mess-up.

When we were talking about hardware limitation, we were mentioning more along the lines of the micro-usb port. For example, they might have used a port which doesn't allow for that type of communication.

A Port? Or you mean the way the port is wired to the device? Because all USB ports have data transfer.

Inside a port there's a bus or interface, a separate chip. Its this part of the story that could be the part causing external thumbdrives or card readers not receiving power from our phone, even if tegra 3 or kernel or OS supports.
If the thumbdrive doesn't even receive power then it have no abilities to even cry of its existence.

What if it's just the kernel/software limiting it to give power..?

could be a cause but logically speaking its not likely caused by it. According to USB Diagostic tool our kernel supports OTG.
meanwhile psy is having a live youtube premier of his new track http://www.youtube.com/user/officialpsy?feature=inp-lt-psy-SG

I guess we'll find out when the kernel source is released. Maybe it'll give the ability to enable OTG ourselves if something in the software/kernel is stopping it ftom functioning.
any news?
After the Kernel Source was being released, is it possible to install the otg funktion?

Two members in this thread confirmed it working.
Reply to HTC One hdmi converter
Surely ,It can. You must know that the hdmi converter or adapter is invented for Smartphone or other video device. Sometimes. It include PC,TV etc. So you don't need to worry. Otherwise , you should worry whether can purchase original and high quality hdmi converter. Here i suggest you a website: www.hdgenius.com ,It is very professional in hdmi industry. So if you get device from it. You won't need to worry this question.
Hi guys this shoud work on the lg g2 great for watching my F1 on the go and without using loads of data on my phone great kit.

This is awesome. I wish it was cheaper here in the US

This looks very cool. Any confirmation that it indeed works? Most of the phones listed I think use mhl, not slimport and I'd think this would only work with mhl compatible phones which the G2 is not.
This has nothing to do with MHL. It should work with anything that supports USB OTG. It's not outputting any signal...
@op You should actually try this http://www.tivizen.com/icube/nano/index.html
The reason behind my suggestion and because I have searched the whole DVB-T micro usb android tuners a lot is that with the one you are suggesting the micro usb port is occupied by the tuner. As a result, you will not be able to charge your phone at the same time. So, imagine yourself with 10% battery and the F1 race just starting, Waht would you prefer... being able to charge your phone and watch the race at the same time or watch the first 10 (max) minutes and then wonder what has happened during the rest of the race.
Otg charge y cable is what you want ....charge and org same time ?

Do these support the North American channels, and does this use Verizon Data to stream these or is it just over the air signal?
Use your brain.. why would it have its own antenna and be called a "tuner" if it required smartphone data ?!?
You never know, did you design the equipment, people are trying to exploit costs everywhere.
Cool product. Wonder if this works? I travel often, usually hotels have cable, but you never know.

In the specs of the item listed in the OP, it states the device must have Neon support. Can anyone confirm our device has this support? I have tried reading the cpuinfo file but have been unable to open the file as text to confirm this. If indeed our devices do have Neon support, then I see no reason why it shouldn't work.

All Snapdragon SOC's have Krait CPU's which have NEON.
