If you have not tried already use another PC or connect to USB on the back of the PC Tower.
Make sure you have the Bionic in Diag mode.
There is also a thread under the Bionic development forum....I used that guide to flash a pantech to pageplus

Trying to get MSL with CDMA Workshop

I downloaded CDMA Workshop (have used it before) however I cannot seem to find my com port for my phone. When I go to device manager it does not show any Com ports being used. Any thoughts? I am using Fresh 2.1.2
Have you tried my Method for getting your MSL? you don't even need a computer.
You have to get the usb drivers for the phone.
http://rapidshare.com/files/293529424/HTC_Hero_DIAG_Drivers.zip
Unzip the files to a folder on your computer.. mine are on desktop
Then in the dialer type
##diag#
A screen will come up enable daig.. And you should see a com port now.
I got my msl using cdma.

Worked Great. Thanks
Yep, it does work. But make sure you have the app aLogcat installed first. It's mentioned later in the thread, but it's not stated in the first post. So, if you're not familiar with it, you'll be scratching your head wondering what it's about (if you need a different ROM). Btw, this worked with a stock Sprint 2.1 ROM. No rooting required.

Can't Root - "searching for the phone" please help

psouza's one-click root is not working for me. when i try to run it, it says "searching for the phone" and hangs.
I just got a replacement from Verizon and i notice it is XT862. Does this matter?
I have the proper drivers installed, I have Debugging enabled, and it USB is set to Charge Only. Not using the original usb cable bc I don't have it (does this really make a difference??) but i have tried numerous different cables.
When I go into adb and type adb devices, it says list of devices is attached, and there are no entries. It seems my phone is not being recognized, despite the f
Any ideas???
Did you try mass storage or pc mode?
I had that issue with my USB cable. I used the one with my device and it didn't come up. I went grab another USB cable in the house and it worked.
yeah, tried them. Didn't mention that cause if I understand correctly, it should be in charge only.
thanks for the help!
I hope you figure something out good luck
Edit: have you tried running command prompt as administrator?
yeah. same result.
I read in another thread that you were required to us the cable that came with the phone for it to be detected. But also, I used a BlackBerry branded cable to do it on mine, and it worked.
come to think of it, i think i used a blackberry cable to root my first d3. will give it a shot and report back.
why the heck would it matter what cable you use? Though it doesn't make sense to me, it appears that the cable is indeed important.

Download the USB and Charging Drivers off of Motorolas website, make sure your phone connects to USB mass storage after you do this, then switch to charging mode.
It took a blackberry cable *and* reinstall of the moto drivers, but im up and running and rooted. now, to figure out how to get my other d3 to stop bootlooping...
glad to hear that you were able to root sorry about the bootloop though, have you tried using the SBF file to flash your rom back to stock to attempt again? i'm just getting into the d3 mod scene so i can't provide links to files or anything other than what i was told to do in response to questions i had and unfortunately that was one of them lol,
I had to use the cord that came with my phone. For some reason Motorola is bad about not using standards. For example there was an old 355 flip phone that is a Motorola I used to have and it wouldn't charge with anything but a Moto charger. It may be the same port but not the same compatibility. Thankfully it will accept a charge from any microUSB source.

Doesn't your phone have to have "USB Debugging" enabled as well?
USB Debugging enabled + choose Charge Only mode. That should do it.

Yeah, I was able to flash the SBF. It was really exhausted and couldn't figure it out when I originally posted, but after a nights sleep, I was able to do it just fine.
Before I send my phone back to verizon, I was wondering - Is my phone still rooted after I flashed the SBF? I would ordinarily just run an app that checks, but i can't get past that annoying "activate your phone" screen.

that sucks that you're sending it back to verizon, hopefully next time when you root and rom, it won't botch the radio up lol

uhm, what are you talking about exactly?
my keyboard is broken so they sent me a replacement. It was during the process that I was trying to unroot the one thats going back to verizon that I softbricked it.
I have fixed it. Now I want to know if the phone is still rooted or not. And the radios have been totally fine the whole time.

[Q] Can't get Heimdall i897uckb2 (froyo) to work

My mom says that her Samsung Captivate (AT&T) phone has been buggy since her update to Gingerbread. She says phone calls and text messaging out often goes to a different contact than the one she selected, and that button presses are harder to detect. She wants me to try reverting back to the orignal OS, which was i897uckb2, according to the phone's box. I've searched everywhere for the ROM and have only found the Heimdall One-Click 1.3.0 in the dev forum, but I can't download the .jar file. It keeps timing out. After some searching, I found a file host with Heimdall One-Click 1.3.1. I get the phone in download mode, and Heimdall detects the phone. But when I click "Flash," it asks to install USB drivers and I follow the instructions, but then it says installation failed.
Is the download link not working for anyone else? Is something wrong on my end of the USB driver isn't installing for 1.3.1? Is there such a thing as 1.3.1 or did i get a bogus installer?
Here is the official website... Heimdall command line tool, Heimdall Frontend, Drivers...http://www.glassechidna.com.au/products/heimdall/
Note: Heimdall uses its own specific USB Drivers.

thanks for the link. i found out that my mom's contact list is messed up with lots of duplicates and other stuff from when she transferred her sim info when she bought the phone. i cleaned it up from 900 contacts to 300. if her phone still has bugs i'll try out heimdall to get back to stock OS

I am not sure if this will help you but you can look at these drivers.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2246355
tyvm for the reply, but unfortunately still not the right drivers.
man, I searched for you.. All I can find are the ones for the LTE. Did you try to install the lte drivers manually?
ya i tried it, no dice. i think it has something to do with the stupid jelly bean software on the HTCs. When i had that issue with the EVO LTE, the diag drivers would work if i did a downgrade back to ICS. But since this phone did not ship with ICS, that is out of the question lol.

thanks, but i'm on a windows XP, it does not give me that option shown in the video, i can manually choose the drivers, which i do and select the htc drivers, but it still fails. At this point i'm wondering if it has anything to do with my OS, as far as the drivers wont install correctly because i'm on windows xp instead of win7. Think thats a possibility?

I am using win 7 x64 here..
What is the program you are trying and I can see if it works and finds the drivers here.
I have never used diag drivers.
the program i'm using is CDMA Workshop, but you dont need the program to find the drivers. Bascially if you plug in a HTC One or HTC EVO 4G LTE on the newest jelly bean SW. you would punch in ##DIAG#, it would take you to a diagnostic menu, and when you plug it in, it will try to install diagnostic port so you can access the phone and modify the internal settings such as MDN/MIN/EVDO/PRL and such. So unless you have a HTC One or a EVO LTE, it wouldn't work.

I went to phone
##DIAG# call
nothing happens.
is it a CDMA one or a GSM one? it only works on CDMA phones. If you hit ##3424# it should come up and say DM Command Service 1: on 2: off. once you turn it on and you plug it in, it will ask for diag drivers

nope it does not work lol atleast we know that its a windows issue. So on your computer it shows up as a port number with diag?
I am running into the same issue trying to use QPST with the Sprint HTC One. I've downloaded and installed multiple sets of HTC diag drivers, but none of them will actually show the phone in QPST. I am fairly certain it is a driver issue as QPST works great with a Nexus S 4G. I am using Win7x64.
A related question, does anyone know what the "HTC 9K DIAG" device is that shows up in device manager when the phone is in diag mode?
Richard
Try this...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2254578
For those having issues installing the driver, the below worked for me.
1. Open Device Manager from the control panel.
2. Put your phone into serial mode so that the computer tries to load the HTC Modem Drivers.
3. Right click on HTC Modem and select properties
4. Click the "Update Driver" button
5. Select "Browse my computer for driver software" option
6. Select "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer" (VERY IMPORTANT, Don't use the browse button here)
7. Select "Show All Devices" from the list and click "Next"
8. Select "Have Disk" Button
9. Now click "Browse" Button and browse to were you extracted the above files....and find the HtcUsbMdmV64.inf file.
10. Select it and select Open.
11. Click OK.
12. In the window you should see HTC USB Modem, Select it and click "Next"
13. Select "Yes" should you get a popup
Driver will install and you should be good to go!!!
Thanks joshHuman..

i think the issue now is that its not working for XP, only Win7. Do you actually get a diagnostic com port when you do that?
