So I looked at the HTC article of who's getting ICS and Salsa wasn't, but Desire C does. There reason for not updating it is because ICS requires more than 512mb RAM... The same amount of RAM on the Desire C! And we have a faster processor bigger screen and more internal storage! So I email them with this contradiction and get back something along the lines of, we only update our phones if it will improve the user experience...

****ty HTC has not supported salsa,hero,chacha......
but other devs have brought Jelly Bean and Ice Cream Sandwich on the HTC Hero.....
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/jelly-bean-and-ice-cream-sandwich-on-the-htc-hero/
this hero phone had got only 1.5 ver. of android from htc,and the devs ported cm10...... AMAZING !!!!!
so lets learn and together bring ice cream sandwich to salsa!!!!!!
amazing work done by bigbear and razor to work so hard and bring us different great roms till now and also other devs who helped us before...
lets show what we can do to ****TY HTC and what they cant or they wont !!!!!!!
The Kernel is whats stopping the development of the Salsa
They'd have to rewrite the all HTC Sense 4 library files to ARMv6 instead of ARMv7. ARMv6 isn't supposed to run ICS anyway by default (thanks CyanogenMod)

could anybody help me overclock my htc salsa...and what wld be the stable clock tht i cld use
Max clock setting is 800, or you'll overheat the handset.
Sent from my HTC C510e using Tapatalk
The stock kernel supports your cpu to clock at max of 800Mhz..
We need a overclocking kernal, which may support upto 1.2GHz..
No DEV's has got yet for HTC salsa.
Need to wait for some more time..
Overclocking results into overall performance including your battery...
But not reliable...
Sent from my HTC Salsa C510e using XDA App
My Salsa over heats even for 800mhz, perticularly when I use gMaps. I tried to reduce the speed with another kernal but did not work. Phone stopped booting. So i had to restore it to stock and then re root.
kernel is responsible for the communication between hardware and software components hence it is different in each devices according to device config(hardware and software capabilities).
u cannot flash some kernel just like that..
u need a dedicated one for salsa..

Yes i realised that after screwing my phone... luckly i did not brick it.
Yeah and it would be able to be overclocked pretty high as well. Try the dev boards you might get more luck.

nope im testing ones given to me...but its slow process and most kernels ive tested are basic, they haven't even got wifi enabled in them.
What about the "customized" kernel in .sense, does that have oc potential?

Is there any chance for this device to get the new Jellybean?
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using Tapatalk 2
Officially, it's highly unlikely... but there will likely be themes if not some ports done by the wonderful developers here at XDA.
yeah, I've been wanting to see the performace improvements they claim to have the upgrade to 4.1
Judging from the Vivid tech specs...I'm assuming its possible for a ROM/port of JB. But, as far as I would "guess".....I don't think there will be an actual update for the Vivid, as HTC has not yet gotten full AOSP...
Sent from my HTC Holiday using xda premium
Some people say "yes", some other say "no" and HTC is not answering tweets related to that, actually I think it's possible, we have almost the same hard as One S, and it's pretty sure getting JB, but untill HTC let us know about that officially we'll be just dreaming

in my opinion, the hardware of the Vivid is more than capable of running Jellybean. I used to have a Motorola Atrix 4g (1 ghz dual core) that was like 3 years old and it ran Jellybean better than my Vivid runs Ice Cream. I imagine this was because of Project butter but I think the Vivid would be a ok.

I have a Samsung Infuse that is a single core 1.2ghz with 512mb of ram that runs jellybean flawlessly
Anyways...looks like h8rift has found the fix for mic and just needs to perfect it...won't be much longer for a stable 4.1

Since the One S C2 (The one with the Snapdragon S3 which has the same architecture as out devices) has gotten its JB leaked, i was wondering how hard would it be to port it over. I have an Incredible 2 but since the 2 and the S are essencially the same device, and you guys are more active, i was wondering if one of you would have any idea on how to.

Hi
It doesn't work that easily We will neeed a booting kernel with ion support (which jb sense needs) not to mention a proper ramdisk and compliant rom.
Yes the base rom is there (For Desire X too which is the same screen res as us) but we will still need a modified kernel
Whether it is ported from a newer device or completely hacked up from ours, it doesn't matter as long as it works I guess
But there are a lot of variables
Just wait....

Is sense 5 in the future of HTC incredible s?
I mean the HTC butterfly just got it officially
So does this mean it can be easily ported in the future to our device ? And if so when will it possible ?
I am a little newbie when it comes to developing Roms and porting
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using xda app-developers app
Adding to that HTC one s got a beta Rom of sense 5 too thanks to xda community of course (great developers everywhere)
So what we are waiting for is the ion kernel which I think is almost done working and what next?
Please advice

Yes its true that we still need a kernel for Jellybean Sense. We can hope for it this month (or the next).
However, all the devices that have received Sense 5 beta or what not are all the 1080p devices so for a team of HTC developers, it might not be too difficult to just port it over since there (shouldn't) be any re-sizing to do. For our device, its possible although I can't imagine what single person would spend the time re-sizing all the HTC apps and what not.
Sense 4+ would be significantly more realistic because there are devices with Sense 4+ that have the same resolution as our phone, so (I'm not a developer so don't take my word for granted) I'd assume that it would be just exchanging libs, correcting frameworks here and there, make modifications to make it run smoother and better etc.
