Jellybean for vivid? - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

Is there any chance for this device to get the new Jellybean?
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using Tapatalk 2

Officially, it's highly unlikely... but there will likely be themes if not some ports done by the wonderful developers here at XDA.

yeah, I've been wanting to see the performace improvements they claim to have the upgrade to 4.1

Judging from the Vivid tech specs...I'm assuming its possible for a ROM/port of JB. But, as far as I would "guess".....I don't think there will be an actual update for the Vivid, as HTC has not yet gotten full AOSP...

Some people say "yes", some other say "no" and HTC is not answering tweets related to that, actually I think it's possible, we have almost the same hard as One S, and it's pretty sure getting JB, but untill HTC let us know about that officially we'll be just dreaming

I would he happy if they would just fix the problems with 4.0.3 - supposedly a 4.0.4 version that is coming/has come to some phones.

I want jelly bean bad my friend just put jellybean on his Sony Ericsson play r800x

Just bug fixes. Now, I couldn't tell you what those are though.

in my opinion, the hardware of the Vivid is more than capable of running Jellybean. I used to have a Motorola Atrix 4g (1 ghz dual core) that was like 3 years old and it ran Jellybean better than my Vivid runs Ice Cream. I imagine this was because of Project butter but I think the Vivid would be a ok.

I have a Samsung Infuse that is a single core 1.2ghz with 512mb of ram that runs jellybean flawlessly
Anyways...looks like h8rift has found the fix for mic and just needs to perfect it...won't be much longer for a stable 4.1

ICS for incs... Will we get it

Hey guys I've played with the beta releases that some great devs have uploaded but I am still not understanding if HTC will releasea version with sense or are all incs users up shot creek without a paddle? Seems kind of stupid if we don't get it my phone runs the betas with no slow downs at all.
Any help with this would be great.
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using XDA Premium App
From what I've heard,HTC hasn't published any concrete press statements on weather they will upgrade Inc s to ics.The most likely outcome-they probably won't upgrade it,considering the late arrival of even sense 3.0.Luckily,devs are doing much appreciated work of keeping our device alive.
In regards to virtuous quatro beta1, I can't seem to connect properly to a wifi router, which uses wpa[psk] encription,it connects but nothing on the browser loads and wifi icon is grey.WPA2 router works just fine.Any ideas? Thanks
That is a huge let down as why they would kill this phone it is amazing if HTC kills us that is ridiculous

ICS for incs
I don't think htc is going to update our device. But there is allready one good ICS custom rom!! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424260
I used this rom now for a few days now, and it runs really smooth!! Only the camera doesn't work, but i'll think they get it fixed soon. There working hard on this rom! So if you wan't to get ICS on your device, you should give it a trie!
Ya I tried it and love it hence my frustration with HTC if the modding comunity can release such a.beautiful working Rom than why can't a billion dollar company. Especiallysince we dumped about 800 bucks into a.phone last April that is now being left in the dust like a old run down Buick lol

Chances are that we'll miss out on some native ICS love. They'll probably provide an update for devices from a certain date and anything prior to that will be left behind.
Given the lack of support for us IncS users, I wouldn't be surprised. Not to matter though. Give it time and we'll all be running CM9!
I'm curious, why can't the IncS get ICS? It should have everything it would need to run it, sans heavy lag from sense.
1.0 Ghz single core, 768MB DDR2, Adreno 205 sounds more like plenty needed to run it. It seems most devices that were killed from ICS have 512MB RAM or less. ICS is very memory dependent, so that extra 256 is helping tide it over from stuff compared to Desire OG and Desire Z.
Last month HTC announced the Evo Design 4G was going to get it. That thing only has a 200mhz gain on the Incredible S - 1.2Ghz single core, 768MB DDR2, Adreno 205.
IMO, 200 mhz of CPU difference is not going to be that noticeable...
Like I said, I don't believe it's a descriminate issue that means we'll be left out, but more an issue with the time the IncS was released.
Don't get me wrong, I desperately hope that we get some Official ICS love, but i'm not terribly confident about it.
Root your phone and you can flash one of the custom ICS Rome's that's already available for IncS.
I talked to a HTC rep down under who said this phone will not get ICS under any Oz carrier OTA

RC1 available! Virtuous team really rocks. All my respect, they are simply awesome. I'm using BS player and LG cam app. Works smooth, few bugs, like the photo widget one... But I guess that now the effort will be focused on improving the camera, which is working.
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using xda premium
Installed and works nearly perfect
Virtuous Quattro RC2 works pretty well on my IncS. Loving ICS so far! I did notice that we have a 8 megapixel camera but with this Virtuous Quattro we are only using 5 megapixels....
I don't care if a stock ics update arrives ota or not. I'm using miui and it's way better than the sense stock rom. As for ics version, there would be lots of custom roms to choose from. So don't worry guys IncS is capable to get nearly all of the custom time out there....

Sure, IMHO, HTC is by far too "sense-centric". It's their way to ensure they are at least as cool as the others in California. But for the average Android user "coolness" is not a deal breaker factor.

This was the one thing making me hesitate between the velocity and the galaxy nexus in the end, I figured it would be ported eventually and rolled the dice... hopefully I don't get snake eyes

Dodgy HTC

So I looked at the HTC article of who's getting ICS and Salsa wasn't, but Desire C does. There reason for not updating it is because ICS requires more than 512mb RAM... The same amount of RAM on the Desire C! And we have a faster processor bigger screen and more internal storage! So I email them with this contradiction and get back something along the lines of, we only update our phones if it will improve the user experience...

this hero phone had got only 1.5 ver. of android from htc,and the devs ported cm10...... AMAZING !!!!!
so lets learn and together bring ice cream sandwich to salsa!!!!!!
amazing work done by bigbear and razor to work so hard and bring us different great roms till now and also other devs who helped us before...
lets show what we can do to ****TY HTC and what they cant or they wont !!!!!!!
The Kernel is whats stopping the development of the Salsa
They'd have to rewrite the all HTC Sense 4 library files to ARMv6 instead of ARMv7. ARMv6 isn't supposed to run ICS anyway by default (thanks CyanogenMod)

Why is ROM development so slow for HTC phones?

I'm trying to decide between the sprint galaxy s 4, and the HTC one. My concern with the HTC is ROM development, my original galaxy s gets fully working cyanogenmod before a useful rom is made for my evo 3D. This seems to be the case with most all of their devices.
Why is it this way? Will the HTC one be this way as well? I'd like to hear people's thoughts on this. Thanks.

lol! Cyanogenmod ROM comes first before stock ROM? Ain't believing it buddy
useful ROM = Stock ROM
Nono, the evo 3d has unofficial cyanogenmod at least 3 months after the epic 4g receives official. Two, unofficial AOSP roms seem to be more stable (and released earlier) on galaxy s devices than htc devices why is that? Both being flagships, what leaves htc behind in custom AOSP roms?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
My galaxy s would be on. 2.3, it is now on 4.2. The evo would be on 4.0 with outdated sense, it is now on 4.1. Nexus 7, stock 4.2. I use stock until the phone ages, and stock isn't good enough. I plan to have my next phone for 2 years, I might as well choose a phone that will stay current throughout those two years.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
HTC supports the flagship in every way possible, look at the One X. Even the newly released One is getting OTA at a crazy rate. And for custom rom developers, my Desire HD has fully stable 4.2.2 CM, AOKP and even paranoid. I hope this was helpful

I really think that the One is getting a huge developer community. Look at the android development thread. 4 ROMs already released (with tweaks) while only a few have got the device till now

I'm beginning to think that the evo 3d was just a horrible buy. I hope that the fact they're releasing the exact same device across all networks helps development. Still can't decide between the S4 and this. Both very good phones.

I've never owned a Samsung, but I've owned 2 HTCs, and my device is great in durability. I have this phone for about 2.5 years and I drop it around once every 3 days (obviously not intentionally) and it still runs good, no issues. For Samsung, you should read Samsung forums.
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk 2
Ohh ok I got it now. Unfortunately there's won't be any CM or AOSP ROMs until kernel source code is out. Thing is Stock kernel is not compatible with AOSP/CM ROMs and the other way around since both custom and stock has some functions added to the kernel for it to work.
And the thing here is samsung releases kernel source code earlier than HTC. So it really depends on the situation. And by the way samsung is not releasing opening up it's exynos to developers. And now that samsung implemented octa core & big little architecture on their new processors. I doubt they would be able to make a CM/AOSP ROM anytime soon on S4.
I know cm10.1 runs slow as heck on my wife's one x as a custom sense rom works smooth as butter. On my note 2 cm10.1 actually runs better than any touchwiz rom. My advice is to wait until there both out and go see them in person. Both phones will get a good bit of development.
Thank you so much. That's exactly what I was looking for. Do you think the unlocking/s off process going to be simple to get it to run AOSP? I had to do the horrifying "wire trick" to get AOSP on the evo 3d.

You don't need s-off to run aosp. You just need to unlock on htc dev or buy the dev edition one that htc will offer. But yes I'm sure in time we will get s-off for everyone. Lol.. I remember the wire trick, I used to own a rezound, horrid phone. No I just did s-off on my wife's new one x and its just a command line hack and software.

Doubt that, it's not unusual for phones to ship a version behind. But with the s4 shipping with the latest I'd hope htc will push an update ASAP.
