Tab battery dying? - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi. My galaxy tab Verizon is running cyanogenmod 9 Rc1. My battery has been jumping from 30 percent to 3 percent for the last week or so. Today I recalibrated it. It now goes from 17 to 3. It was fully charged when I did it. I did it again. Same result. Is my tab dying? Should I replace it or take it to Verizon?

im not really a fan of opening up my tab though
Nor i were.infact mine was in warranty.i even show this problem to samsung service center they change somthng called IFC.it become normal for a month or two then again show same problem.actual problem wasnt IFC, bt in its changing procedure even they disconnect n reconnect battry connector which solve problem for some time.
I read somewhere its a battery issue.bt who cares now i have a method to overcome it.
its worth opening ur tab.check out videos on youtube nt a difficult task n now i need less then five mins to revive my battery again.
however i am curious why it works.

Well maybe it's a battery stats problem........
I had this problem but never got stressed.....but when the battery stats stuck on a certain % ,I panicked big time.
well I have posted a thread with solutions for this problem.....and that cured both battery stats stuck and the battery draining instantaneously.....worked for me.....never had this problem after that

I had same problem six months ago and I had tried everything. But every time, the problem came back again after a short period of time. Finally I had to buy a battery on eBay two months ago. After replaced the battery, the problem has never shown up again.

if you follow the instruction carefully you won't break it. It's actually very simple. after unscrew, just use an expired credit card to pry it open. Don't use any metals.
follow the fixit or directfix instruction. They are the best!

Indeed its a battery fault bt despite showing fake status there isnt any problem in charging or backup.
thats y i didnt bother to buy new one n will stretch this one by disconnecting method.
Start opening it from bottom corner after removing screws.

I use my tablet instead of my netbook for traveling right now. The tablet is so portable and have all the functions that I need for traveling. I couldn't stand the battery problem any more as it was so frustrating that I couldn't use it while I needed it the most. I didn't send it back for warranty repair because I already rooted and installed the Overcome. The battery is only $16 to $24. It took a little bit guts and dexterity to take out the cover. The back cover is actually quite sturdy and is not that easy to break. I even drilled out the screw heads because I don't have a special screw driver. But I am happy after replaced the battery. My tab is much dependable and reliable.

Restarts When Keyboard Closes Hard

Just got a droid 3 from Asurion to replace the D2G I cracked this weekend, and I don't want to sound like a whiner, but I'm not too impressed with it. Not liking the unlock button placement/it's hard to push (lawl), and the keyboard isn't as good (except for the number row that's nice), stock is kind of sluggish, and the screen seems kind of pixely and fuzzy in some places. But the biggest issue that I just found is that if i shut the keyboard at any speed slightly above average, the phone restarts completely. Does anyone else have this issue? Could it just be because it's most likely a refurb? Sorry for the complaints haha I'm just a bit disappointed but i'm sure the phone has its good qualities
Sometimes this happens to me as well, but not always. I think its the battery, when you shake the phone you can fell the battery moving + restart

If it is the battery what you can do is take a piece of scotch tape and roll it end to end and stick it between the battery door and battery. As far as the lag wait until CM9/10 is done.

At one point I tried a third party extended battery I found on Amazon and it caused this exact problem (and also restarts at other times). The fit of the battery was kind of loose and when shaken or handled just so, it would restart. Is it a refurbished phone? Refurb or not - check to see if it is a Motorola battery in it. If it is the battery being loose causing it, I'ed request another replacement. You shouldn't have to mess with a phone they just sent you to make it work.

thanks everyone, and yeah i think it's a refurb, sometime it shuts off randomly too. but it is strange because even if i shake the phone it doesn't shut off, only when i close the keyboard too quickly (which is any speed except slow and cautious), so i dont think its the battery being dislodged but who knows. it's def the right battery, but i think i might call asurion because i cant really deal with random power downs

[Q] No response from my I9000. Not even battery chaging animation.

Hi all!
Today my phone just stopped at school for no reason. I checked the clock on it and after a few minutes I wanted to check it again, but this time I got no response from it. I thought it just freezed. So I pulled the battery out and put it back after a few mins. But no response. After I got home, I plugged it the wall charger, but nothing happened. No battery indicator, not even the little circle. Have you got any ideas what just happened to my phone?
is the model i9000 and not i9300?
Just wanted to make sure because I've had similar issues with i9300.
Nope. It's the first generation Samsung Glaxy S. The one with the AMOLED display not even the I9003, so the one with the S-LCD screen.

Ok.
I guess it's out of warranty then...
What ROM and Kernel did you have?
I had the latest Cyanogenmod 10 Nightly and the latest Devil kernel.
But I rented a USB JIG today and I hope it will fix it.

I tried two different batteries, the jig, every button combo I found on the internet, but nothing worked. Now I took it to a little phone service and see what they say.
Seems that there's been some hardware problems with i9300. Dunno if something wrong with i9000 also.
If you love your i9000 that much, fix it. If not, buy i9300 §

Good News. They successfully repaired it and it was cheap. They said I used Galaxy Ace modem driver which is weird, because I used that modem driver since I bought the phone.

Any news about your SGS ? Let me know. I hard bricked a SGS I9000B and its not even mine, I mean it wont turn on, wont light up the screen, wont give any working sign, when battery is inserted for a long time the phone warms up. 3 buttons wont work, sliding the battery in and pressing 3 buttons also wont work. Should I try the USB JIG? Is there any way around ?

P1000GSM only swich on after removing battery for 30 min

Hello all.
I have a very strange issue that started to happening like a month ago, the tab was on default ROM 2.3.x.
After not using the tab for some days like 3 or 4 days it does not swich on anymore, not even with power + down volume.
To solve the probem I have to OPEN the tab and disconnect the battery for 30 min. then the charge icon apear again...
It happened two times so I installed CM 9 stable(wich by the way is very good in my opinion) thinking that could be some kind of software issue.
after this I tought that the issue was solved. but yesterday it happened again
does this problem ever happened to anyone else? I am starting to become tired of opening the tab so I can use it.. its not easy to remove the cover.
what do you think? it's a hardware issue or other? next thing I will try is to leave it always connected to power just to check if it happen again.
I repeat that it's strage because only happen if I don't use the tab for some time (more than a day) even if fully charged.
regards
Thread moved as should be in Q&A when you ask questions. Please post in the correct sections going forward.
Thanks

a month ago my battery was dropping suddenly to 30% or 20% i don't remember and nothing solved this until i flashed overcome Stock V5 {not the overcome rom} and discharge it and charge it again full then i flashed AOKP jelly bean back... now it is normal...
thanks, I will give overcome a try and let you know if it helped... not sure yet if i open the tab once more to disconnect battery or just wait until it completely discharges, but so far it doesn't seems to come near that point...
I have now leave my tab always connected to power cord, if I'm not using it and problems doesn't seem to come back.
So I presume the issue of not charging must be only after the tab shut down due to low battery...

[Q] Galaxy note screen flickering and fake battery drain

Hello,
I've recently started having a strange issue with my Galaxy Note. The screen starts to ranomly flicker like crazy and then the device turns off. When I restart the phone it shows that I have 1% battery... which is not true because if left alone the phone starts to "magically" charge on its own over the course of the next 15-30 minutes. I've read that the flickering screen occurs when the battery is low and the screen tries to maintain its brightness, but this isn't my case as i've had this happen even at 80% battery charge.
Has anyone encountered this problem before? I've already tried restoring to factory settings to no avail.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance !
Yep, I experienced this last month. I had my galaxy note for just over one year when I started to have this problem.
Sent it back to Samsung and they fixed it free under the two year warranty (EU law). It seems to be an issue they are aware of. My battery now lasts a couple days and everything is back to normal. 4 day turn around for the repair straight to my door.
Give Samsung customer service a call A.S.A.P.
Good luck!

Thanks for the reply! I will contact them immediately and hope to get things fixed as soon as possible.
I'm actually thinking of selling it in favor of an S2, as this is the second time my note breaks down. Everyone with S2 doesn't seem to have a single problem

The S2??? I would prefer the S3 or Note 2. Jelly bean will probably be the last update for the S2 and possibly the N7000!
Make sure when you call the service department that you explain the issue as you have here on the forum... Don't say that you think the battery is gone... As with my repair it wasn't the battery... They said they changed a chip set or something like that.... Plus even if it is the battery, they are more likely to just replace it for free if you plead ignorance!
P.S. The best way to say thanks is to use the "thanks" button next to my post!

Hm, this is what is now happening to me as well ... Not cool, will see, whether it lasts, or it was just temporary ..., as it looks to me it happens when I leave Wifi switched on.
Edit: The SGN started to do it all the time, it is fine only while charging, looks like battery is going to dye ... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2061307&highlight=flickering, so looking for replacement .

Battery HTC ONE

Hello.
Yesterday I received my htc one.
So far so good but there is something that does not have me happy.
Is the battery life, I had loaded all tonight at 9:00 unplugging and went to work.
At this time I have 39% of battery, and use only a little web browsing, whatsapp and twitter, but not much, I think it was downloaded too use it and die, and all this with the power saving mode activated.
You think, what should I do?
Thank you.
I had a a similar experience during my first couple of days using my One but it seems to have sorted itself out now. I noticed having it on wifi seems to use less power than mobile data if that helps.
Wait a week or so before forming an opinion. As with many smart phones it takes time for the battery to bed in and be fully calibrated. My battery life is superb. I've used my one today heavily with music playing non stop and it's still on 70%.
I wouldn't be worried at all. Mine was the same when I first got it but I wasn't worried because I've had the same thing with every phone I've had in the past few years.
Give it a chance to hit full stride. If it does turn out to be an actual problem, which I strongly doubt, then you'll get a replacement. Nothing to be concerned about.

Mine was poor the first one or two days and now it's fantastic. Give it a few more charging cycles.

Thank you all for the answers, the truth is that I think it has improved, and as you load and 2 cycles and it seems that if it improves enough.
Thank you very much for the help!
Also keep in mind the first few days you own a new device you are using it a lot more because you are checking it out all the time.
