Hi,
I open this topic in order to feedback the problems I have with my SD card which occurs very often and I don't know why !
I have this problem with all customs roms I've tested (nova, zeus, marvel, cm7 -kang & nightly ).
The problem is android says to me that the sdcard is damaged and asks me to format it.
Case A :
I've a black screen and I can't wake up the phone. I remove the battery and at next boot, the sdcard is damaged and the file manager of Ubuntu says "Bad super block". But this case doesn't occurs every times I remove the battery.
Roms : All customs roms + Stock
Case B :
I connect my phone to windows in order to write on the sdcard and when I've finished, I use the option "Eject" in the explorer. Android begins to scan the sdcard but it is damaged. Nautilus says Bad Superblock et Testdisk a bad number of sectors
Roms : All expect Stock
Case C :
I use the phone and I switch it off during the night. At next boot, the file system of the sdcard is damaged.
Roms : Zeus 6.33o
Case D :
I don't know the origin but sometimes, Android can't use the sdcard but Linux and Windows can. Testdisk says that the problem is a bad boot sector.
Roms : Marvell, CM7, (Nova)
Fortunately I know how to use Testdisk to recover my files.
I have a 16 Go card (Lexar) class 6 (bought in June 2011).
Perhaps the card is broken, mine works well in all roms

SD Card restriction on Zeus 7.06
Hi, since this thread is about SD Cards, I have a problem with mine. I installed Zeus 7.06 recently on my OB, but I came across an issue when I installed a navigation app, It stated that Google has now restricted the use of the SDcard for 3rd party apps. This should be the problem for KitKat version of Android, however I got the error message running Zeus 7.06 GB ROM.
Hi. I think this issue comes from the fact that the OB has no internal storage.
Google provided an extra permission to write on SD card. Maybe you should write a message to the dev?

hi guys, i start a new thread cos till now nobody could help me.
if i move/install more than (about) 50 apps on sdcard, my phone works only until shut it down.
once rebooted, it keeps rebooting (it seems to happen while scanning apps on sdcard).
only solution is, to put sdcard in pc and delete some (doesn´t matter which) .asec files from .android_secure folder.
this problem only appears in android versions higher than 2.34 and it seems to appear on other phones (not only lg) too.
please, please, does anybody has a solution or an explanation???
Which ROM are you using?
Anyway, just an idea, looks like a format problem in your card, have you tried to copy all the apps out of the card (v.g. to a PC) and reformat the card?. You can copy verything back afterwards.
Sometimes, it just happens the card is left in a funny state by an O.S. crash or by silly accidents (like pulling it out without unmonting it first).
Hope it helps.
Cheers.
NOTE: If you are copying things out, remember there might be some hidden directories in the card, set your file explorer to show them.
NOTE2: I remember having a similar problem with an old WinMo 6.5 phone, turned out my SD was a fake one not having the expected capacity.
formatting card doesn´t help.
i tried it with 4 different cards. formatted all. did fullwipe, after fullwipe, started with clear rom, installed all apps again. everytime the same: if the´re more than 50 files in android secure, phone keeps on rebooting.
at the moment i use cm9 kang3. but like i told it´s the same with every rom based on android higher than 2.34. so i tried it with miui, miui kangs, cm7, cm7kangs etc. eveytime same thing, cos they´re all based on android higher than 2.34.
these guys have the same problem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1446961
is there anyvody who have an android version higher than 2.34 and more than 50 apps on sdcard and phone doesn´t reboot???
don´t believe that.
so i think i go back to gb 2.34. but is there a rom/kernel with a ramhack, so i got 404mb free ram? and i need the cars mounted in c-style, so external sdcard is sdcard and internal is mounted as _internal..
I have more than , 230 apps, and 40% they are on sdcard.
And i dont have any problems with it.

hmmm... ok, strange. which rom do you use and how many files do you have in android_secure folder and how big is it?
Hey guys, I'm having a bit of a problem with CWMR.
I was on Asylum ICS 14 when I bought a new Transcend 32gb class 4 microsd card.
It worked fine for half a day and when I tried using MX video player later that night, the phone had stopped reading the microsd card.No amount of re-inserting the card would help. The card didn't work with my laptop (running Windows 7) and PC (running Linux) either. So I tried wiping data via CWMR but it shows the error--
Wiping data
Wiping cache
Error mounting /sdcard/.android_secure!
Skipping format
Format complete
I checked and the data gets wiped i.e. all the use apps and settings are cleared.
But the error repeats no matter how many times I've tried to wipe.
I tried flashing a stock GB firmware(KL3 to be exact)and I still get the same error. There is no real problem with the wipe,it works just fine.
Thanks guys
And yes, I've changed the microsd card-it's now a Strontium 32 gb class 10 card.
Not my fault really, my dad just went out and bought the Transcend one
Hmm...sorry about that...I didn't think me rating on my own thread would count !
This is common on pretty much every device out there, it's nothing to worry about.

Really? No disrespect, but there would be at least one thread about it if it was a common problem ?
Anyways, thanks !

It might be a problem with an update, because I'm suddenly having the same error. I'm about to backup my recovery.tar and try to install an older version. Xperia Play 4g with stock 2.3.3, rooted. I've made backups before, and can't find any info as to what a solution is.
The .android_secure folder is a super hidden folder that contains all data from when you move an app to your sd card.
What might be your problem is that you have two of them. One in internal storage and one on an external sd card. Try taking the external one out and backing your phone up to the internal one.

It happened to me also, try this take out your microsd, do factory reset (only on save kernels), format your microsd
Insert it, boot up your phone.
If I'm not wrong, there was a faulty cwmr , which cause this.
Update your kernel
Maybe your card is faulty.
I recently bought sandisk 32 gb card and put up in my galaxy note. It kept saying no card inserted. Same error on windows 7. And after that i come to know that its a factory fault. Got it replaced from the service center.

Fixed.
Flashed abyss kernel 4.2 and did a fullwipe.
Then went back to ParanoidAndroid.
Dunno what caused it, but I no longer care as its fixed
Sorry wrong thread.
Any fix? I need that android secure folder
[Q] After upgrading to CM10 "emmc" changed to "extSdCard" and related problems
Hi,
I've recently updated my GNote (GT-7000) from CM9 to CM10, and looks like with CM10 the external sd card previously mouted as "emmc" has become "extSdCard".
Since then some of the apps (such as Apollo) have trouble seeing media files, others can't see the sd card at all, and when connecting to the desktop the drive which normally shows the content of the external sd card, only shows a couple of folders of it rather than the whole content as it used to do before (when using CM9 and previous roms I had).
Looked around for possible causes, but didn't find much. Someone mentioned that rommanager might have placed ".nomedia" files on the root of the internal or external sd card causing the problem, but that's not my case. Tried also doing a full wipe and reinstall of CM10, no joy.
Any idea?
Thanks!
- Adriano
That's the standard mount points for cm10 there are apps that will remount the sd and external sd in mnt as on stock roms. I had a quick look but couldn't find them, but I'm sure someone else will be able to find them.

clean install without restoring data of apps
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
Thank you for the suggestions -- I tried a clean install as well, but even the builtin apps (Apollo) still had troubles accessing the external sd card (not seeing any of the mp3s I had there). I have now resolved for restoring a CM9 backup I took before upgrading to 10... and everything is working as it used to.
Not sure why I ran into these issues which no one else seems having encountered so far.

I have the same problem except that the files on my internal sd card are not read by apollo player And the gallery. Is there any workaround. The problem started as soon as I upgraded from cm9 to cm10

Download ICS SD Binder. Check all 3 options and reboot. The path should be mnt/extSdCard (i think default is odb or so, make sure you change it) . It worked for me and so I'm trying to answer everyone with this problem. Give me feedback soon. And thanks button if I heped.

It didn't -- I don't need to have /emmc bound to /sdcard/external_sd as it was in GB. With CM9 everything for me works just fine with /emmc.
I tried the latest CM10 nightly, and using ICS SD Binder didn't change things. In the latest CM10 now there is also another mountpoint, called /storage/ and underneath sdcard0 and sdcard1 pointing to the internal and external storages respectively. In addition to /sdcard/ and extSDCard. Every few builds there seem to be some new change related to the storage's mount point. Going to wait another while before doing other attempts.

Any update on this question?
seems these are the new mount points even on the New JB roms from samsung
Somehow in some late November nightly, after flashing it, the files on my Internal SD were detected properly and it has all been working properly since. touchwood!
Hello, I would like your help with a problem I have when installing new roms, based on the top android ICS system.
Any rom I install has the same problem, if the screen is off and I plug in a USB cable or charge the screen will not turn over, I have to remove the battery to turn the phone again, and this normal?
Sorry for my bad english...
If you're using kowalski kernel, in kowalski kernel manager app make sure the 2nd core auto hot plug is on. It should fix that.

thanks man really solved this problem.
But now I came across another problem, the internal memory is partitioned bad, I have the following partitions:
Internal Storage: 1.48 GB
Internal Storage: 4.64 GB
MicroSD: 16GB
The problem is that the system is recognizing the partition of 4.64 GB as the memory card, and the true memory card I can not use, I have access to it, and he listed, most not of use to his files nor move applications to it.
Its separate internal memory and memory card?
It's a common problem, i guess. I don't know the exact solution, but you could try searching the forum. I have seen more than once that other people discuss such problem and i guess you could find the solution. Good luck

Hi, I'm new here and this website has been very useful.
But I have and issue with my Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830
About phone:
Android version: 2.3.5
Kernel Version 2.6.35.7
Build number: Gingerbread
Fully Rooted.
Clockwork Mod
I recently installed a stock and did all of the following things included using this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2609021
After that I did a sd partition using this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1476121
But instead of using a card reader, I did the sd partition using CWM.
Everything worked fine, and I managed to free a great deal of internal storage by linking most of my apps to the sd card.
But recently whenever I use wifi, my phone randomly freezes and goes to the lock screen, where I don't have coverage and no sd card. I have to wait 30 seconds or so to get the coverage back and for the sd card to be scanned.
This problem only occurs when I have my wifi on.
I have no idea why this problem occurs or what could be the cause of it. Could somebody help me find a solution or just explain what could be the cause of this problem.
Thank you in advance.

Hi There,
well these types of problems occur only when there is any kind of Virus or Bug in our device. This may help YOU:
*Remove Unwanted/Untrusted/Unknown apps
*Scan your device for Viruses by antivirus i recommend AVAST or AVG.
If the problems still persists:
*Full Factory Reset.
