hook up to kies, or revert back to gb from same csc, or safe kernel so you can factory reset, but then revert back to stock kernel or update will fail again.
any wuestions search first, you are not the first in the world with this q and I hate explaining twice because of lazy people

and after I connected to wifi, i was asked to update the phone. update size was 72mb. so after the update my kernel changed back to LA6, which is what it was when i purchased the phone brand new. so is this normal? i've never had this happen with any other phone. thanks
This is normal.. Its a normal OTA update.. nothing worry...

I rooted my gt-19300 about a week ago and now samsung have brought out the new firmware update. I'm unable to update. The new update downloads and asks for reboot. This take me to CWM where i hit the reboot option but the update fails.
Is there anyway round this? Or just a way to kill the annoying message that pop up every three hours reminding me to update haha
Thanks!!
You have lost your way, this is the i9000 forum

Jb is not yet released for note. So its must be something else.

i knew JB isnt released yet.... but even when i press update it doesnt find anything....... how do i push it either on kies or the device itself to find this update?
push it thru kies. Whatever system updates you said you have on OTA.. you will find it back in PC KIES. It will just push those system updates back to your Note.
You can either do that or check for manual update and clear software update data from Settings>Manage Applications>All>Software update>clear
There will be two applications in same name. be sure to clear data for both. You can now get notifications only when you manually check for updates. :good::good:
But if one would decide to get the update - if I am rooted: will I lose root?
I know I can use mobile odin to retain root but then I need to put the whole 900MB update from sammobile and restore all my apps most likely

If the update file is more than 50MB.. likely scenario is... you will lose root. You can try to gain root back by flashing ICS kernel e.g. Notecore or speedmod. Don't forget always make sure you have all your apps backup thru titanium backup. I know there's a slim chance of the stock update firmware wiping or removing all your apps. Most likely all your apps would still be there after the upgrade or update(Unless your going to manually reset your phone). In any case, just to make sure and in every case, always make a backup of your files.
Cheers!

Maybe a bad download retry and download it again.

Be sure your phone is 100% stock before you update.
If all fails, use .890 SBF then do update

I can manually update by downloading the update and then pass it to PC and install cell recovery by Motorola?
Hello!
I have just updated to ICS and a few days ago there was a small update, around the size of 25 MB. I decided to press ok and it reboot. It showed the android with the cog for a brief moment then my device suddenly rebooted.
As it rebooted i thought that it had finished, being such a small file; but it told me that the update had failed and that i should try use KIES or try again.
Any suggestions?

I've just un-rooted my phone to an Australian stock Gingerbread rom, and plugged my phone into Kies and now i'm doing the update from there.
