and after I connected to wifi, i was asked to update the phone. update size was 72mb. so after the update my kernel changed back to LA6, which is what it was when i purchased the phone brand new. so is this normal? i've never had this happen with any other phone. thanks
This is normal.. Its a normal OTA update.. nothing worry...

Hi all,
I recently sent my Nexus One in for the power button to be repaired. It came back no problem, however it did say in the e-mail that HTC would flash 'the latest version of android' during the repair process. My device came back with android 2.2.1 and will not update. I have had it back 4 days now, and have been checking system updates and running checkin's. Yet nothing. I'm in the UK if that helps.
So the question is, why is it not updating? How am i going to get it to update? Should i just root it and manually update?
Sounds like your have the vadafone rom.

So HTC have flashed the Vodafone ROM back to the phone :/
Why would they do that?! Ill just have to root again.
Hey guys,
I've always had HTC devices, and this is my first non-HTC phone.
I'm pretty familiar with HTC's RUU's, but I'm a bit confused with my Note.
I rooted my phone, and installed CWM and 3.0.15-franco.kernel... but stayed with Samsungs stock Android.
Now, this morning I received a mssg saying I had an update available, which I said yes to. After restarting, the phone told me that it was impossible to apply update.
Now I check for updates and there are no longer available.
I'm on 4.0.4.
When this happens again, how should I update? Why can't I see the update again?
D
That is just a notification..
After u flash a new rom u will get it..

hook up to kies, or revert back to gb from same csc, or safe kernel so you can factory reset, but then revert back to stock kernel or update will fail again.
any wuestions search first, you are not the first in the world with this q and I hate explaining twice because of lazy people

Guessing you're on a phillz kernel now? Simply download stock gb or ics from samfirmware.com, perform full 3 wipes in cwm recovery while still on jb, then flash stock rom with pc odin, done, make sure it boots ok, if needed perform wipes again (unless on unsafe ics kernel).
P. S... Regarding the phone saying it's charging when not, this usually points to dirty points on the usb connector, cleaning with alcohol and cotton bud usually fixes it, might save you a service center visit and 4 week wait.

Yes, make sure you disable ever root option or it will retain root. Also check binary counter after flash just to make sure it's zero.

seriously, when will people start searching... I give up
Hello!
I have just updated to ICS and a few days ago there was a small update, around the size of 25 MB. I decided to press ok and it reboot. It showed the android with the cog for a brief moment then my device suddenly rebooted.
As it rebooted i thought that it had finished, being such a small file; but it told me that the update had failed and that i should try use KIES or try again.
Any suggestions?

I've just un-rooted my phone to an Australian stock Gingerbread rom, and plugged my phone into Kies and now i'm doing the update from there.
