[Q] Repaired Nexus One stuck @android 2.2.1. - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I recently sent my Nexus One in for the power button to be repaired. It came back no problem, however it did say in the e-mail that HTC would flash 'the latest version of android' during the repair process. My device came back with android 2.2.1 and will not update. I have had it back 4 days now, and have been checking system updates and running checkin's. Yet nothing. I'm in the UK if that helps.
So the question is, why is it not updating? How am i going to get it to update? Should i just root it and manually update?

Sounds like your have the vadafone rom.

So HTC have flashed the Vodafone ROM back to the phone :/
Why would they do that?! Ill just have to root again.

12/16/2010 Captivate update. What is it?

Hi guys, I am a tmobile user so I don't have a captivate, but I do own a vibrant, nexus one, and nexus s.
I rooted my buddy's captivate a little while back. No custom rom or anything, just root, custom recovery, and such.
He just called me today and said he has a notification for an update and wants to know if he should get it. I told him no for now and I'll find out what it is.
So any of you captivate users get an update notification today 12/16/2010? What is it? Froyo? Is it safe to update with root and custom recovery?
No update afaik. It's probably jh7.

Ok so I just called him and he has f*3 I think he said? I don't even remember what he said but it was f something. Not jh7.
I guess would bring me to the question of whether we can just let the ota run it's course or if i need to take him back to stock first. Any thoughts? I'll call back and find out what exact version he is using if I need to. I'm kind of tired right now and forgot what he said.
Stock would be jf6 and the only ota the Captivate has received is jh7.
Edit: You should just flash a froyo rom imo.

Ok that's probably what he said, I just texted him to ask again. I knew it had a f in it though.
Do you know if i need to unroot and go back to stock recovery to update to jh7?
Ya he has jf6, just heard back from him. What is a stable everyday use 2.2 rom I should suggest to him? I'm guessing 2.3 will be ported soon too.
So no one knows if I have to unroot and revert the recovery to stock in order to get jh7 update safely? Currently on jf6 rooted with clockworkmod.
I've seen as others have also reported that if you have ever rooted your phone the OTA update to JH7 will fail. The phone will get to 50% in the update and fail. It could possibly even brick.
you would need to use the odin 1 click to update your buddies phone then re root it.

It must be hit or miss. Had two phones and both rooted, with at the time oclf, and ain't bloatware removed. Both had ota go fine. But I guess better safe then sorry.

Yea mine failed when I had attempted.

I had been running the leaked Froyo and went back to stock. My OTA to JH7 always failed at 50%. I had to use Kies (what a piece of crap software) to finally get back to out of box. I had to return during 30 day for a continually crazy search button.

Help! Reverted back to stock now no OTA

I went back to my stock FRF91 backup I made before I went to the root side. When I started up my phone said it wanted to install OTA update 1 of 2 but it never installed. I am thinking the FRG83G should come down. Does anyone have ideas?

Radio 4.06

Try this: http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Pas...RG83 OTA update, possibly from FRF91 too).zip
Thanks Rusty. Does anyone know WHY I am not getting updates? I see the market updated mysteriously

It seems when you get one, you go to the back of the queue, so if it fecks up, you gotta wait.

At&t Captivate - Warranty problems

I have the samsung captivate.... I updated to the froyo 2.2 using odin a couple months ago, fully aware that it could void my warranty, But due to my external speakers no longer working. A Hardware issue.... I am forced too try and go through the warranty... But Before i went to Froyo 2.2 i backed up all the files on my phone in a folder.
My question is.... Can i just Replace the folders from the backup i made or is there a way i can get around it without void'ing out my warranty? I also thought about when i get the new phone i could possibly clone my damaged one with the new one.... If thats possible? Or if there is a 2.1 official version that i could put on there and they never find out?
ANY AND ALL HELP IS APPRECIATED!!
Go to a warranty store I had an issue with my lcd it was rooted he just looked over my screen didn't check if it was rooted or anything then swapped the battery and SD card into the new one and put the old one in a bin to send back to htc.

How to update Note after rooting and changing kernel

Hey guys,
I've always had HTC devices, and this is my first non-HTC phone.
I'm pretty familiar with HTC's RUU's, but I'm a bit confused with my Note.
I rooted my phone, and installed CWM and 3.0.15-franco.kernel... but stayed with Samsungs stock Android.
Now, this morning I received a mssg saying I had an update available, which I said yes to. After restarting, the phone told me that it was impossible to apply update.
Now I check for updates and there are no longer available.
I'm on 4.0.4.
When this happens again, how should I update? Why can't I see the update again?
D
That is just a notification..
After u flash a new rom u will get it..

Verizon update rolling out now: Build VS98012B

And no, it's not kit kit. I'll wait for the brave souls to experiment...

Nothing about this update has me even thinking about switching back to stock for this. But thanks for the heads up.
Anyone have a copy of the stock recovery? Don't want to flash all the way back to stock but would like to take the update. Currently running tarp.

I know this breaks root, but is it possible to root again or do we have to find a new way to root. I only want to root for tethering and debloat. Verizon sucks when they load everything they can on top of a phone that has a lot of apps already installed on it.
Best to get a copy of it to the devs. If it works like the razr, you can d/l but not install it and pull the file from cache.

Use Titanium backup, and freeze Software Update MUC.
This should prevent you from getting the update.

Yeah, I'm on stock, I assume the dev took the updater out of his rom. You'll have to confirm with him.
I've been trying to get this update but my phone isn't getting it oh well

Nothing here yet either. But I am rooted with tons of mods. Not ready to lose everything over a silly OTA.

especially not, since you can get the benefits of the new radios, without accepting the whole update.
Will this for sure break root and would something like root keeper help at all?
I'm finally eligible for a contract upgrade device. If I were to buy a G2 today from Verizon, what are the odds it come with this update out of the box? I'd hate to buy a device I can't root and install custom ROMs on...
cant pull update??
so i am rooted but running stock.. anyone know why i cant pull the update??
Just flash the radio.. Its the only thing thats worth anything out of this update

I would say zero. I would imagine their stock is at least 1-2 months old. I have never bought a phone that didn't get an update the first day.

They usually release updates over a couple days for server reasons. I still haven't seen it either.

That was my feeling as well. I thought I would wait until the S5 or HTC One 2 came out to upgrade, but based on the previous versions rooting/unlocked bootloader on VZW are highly unlikely.
I was brave and tried the update. Stock ROM, just rooted for tethering purposes. I tried twice and received an error code both times. Then a message stating the update was unsuccessful upon reboot. Boo...
