I want to see what a good one looks like on the left side. How flushed it truly is compared to the right. That way I know exactly how it should be. Going to be returning mine again for the 3rd time. 3rd time is always the charm yes? Also. Can you please post the start of the SSN number? Mine is a C60K
ERM, just look at the right side? That's how it should look.
The replacement I got today looks the same all the way around from every angle.
That is a hard picture to take..

The level of the screen is the same on all sides, in all directions.

Yesterday I received my third unit with screen lifting as well, and I would also like to see one that's completely flush.
May I suggest that if you are willing to go through the trouble of doing this, perhaps also grab a shot of the bezel test -- looking across the display from the right side and using the left bezel as a horizon. If the black display interrupts the thin silver line of the left bezel, the screen is lifting.
I don't have a good camera, but here is a photo of my second tablet failing the bezel test.
If your screen is completely flush, you should be able to photograph an intact silver line from a much lower, more horizontal perspective.

That looks pretty bad.
Like I said, it is a hard picture to take, The angle, holding it in one hand while taking the picture with the other, flash etc... If I was home, I could use my lightbox and stand and get a much better picture without the need of a flash and get a better all along photo of it. But here... not so much so it looks more deceiving than it actually is.
When I look at the screen with two hands and compare it all the way around it is flush with nothing sticking up on all sides.

That's hilarious.

Mine certainly does not look the same as the right side, top and bottom being completely flush. Now I know it should be flush all around being able to see the silver lining all around. I kinda imagined it would be a little hard to take pics showing completely flush. Since this will be my 3rd one from wal-mart. If this 3rd one has the problem. I give up and will just wait until they get more in. Give it a couple weeks or so.

Google considers units with any adhesive separation whatsoever to be DOA. The left side should be as flush as the right.
Since people are reporting that it gets worse over time, there's no reason not to be cautious.
My second one, looks its good!

I would consider this to be seperation. If there was none, you wouldn't be able to see the side of the glass at all.
You can probably squeeze the tablet on the side there to and it would feel spongy.

you don't even have to look to see if there's separation, you just need to feel it. touch the right side and you can feel the silver frame sticking out. then touch the left side and you will just feel the glass
I never knew this was a problem. I just checked my unit and I guess that I lucked out. It's perfect on all edges.

You know that it's fixable right? Just pop the back cover off and tighten the screws around the edge. Use a little thread lock so they won't back out again.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
It really would be helpful if someone could post photographic evidence of a flush left side.
I understand that this is a bit of a chore, but it is the purpose of the thread.
Krelvinaz has posted a quality photo of what he believes to be a perfectly flush display, but the edge of his glass appears to be visible.
Luchoster uploaded two photos, but in most cases the screen lift isn't particularly noticeable at the corners, so I'm not sure what the reason for focusing on them was. Also, the reflection in those pictures is more disorienting than any single frame of the movie Inception.
I'm on my second replacement now, and haven't decided what to do next. At this point, it's starting to seem like a possibility that everyone has at least a minor amount of screen lift, and that perfect units are an observational error. On the other hand, there are many people here who should know exactly what to look for and who have claimed to have one.
Ideally, I would like to see a high quality photo of a bezel test from a low angle. That would be the most conclusive image possible.
That is probably the best my amateur hands can do with my Galaxy Nexus camera without daylight.

Ravyn, if I were going to take anyone's word about their unit being flush, it would be yours.
But that picture proves more about the right side than the left. See how the right bezel is uninterrupted in the background?
If the right side of the display were higher, it would break that silver line.
Could you please post one similar to that with the right side facing you? Try to lower the perspective if you can, but that angle is pretty good.

Making this, detailed step-by-step, for those who don't want to dig thru that thread (Hopefully I'm not violating any rules. If so, Mods please replace my original post with this one)
ok I think I've discover the cause of the lift.
Got a replacement due to screen lift and guess what the new one had a slight lift on the lower left.
I figure must be a loose screw, it's not as bad as the old one where the whole left side bulged out.
So I open it and found all the screws to be snug. So I unscrewed the lower left, thinking it's too tight and that's where I discover the cause.
It's not that the screws are too loose, it's that there isn't enough space between the frame & the glass. So the tighter you screw it in, the further you're pushing the screen out, causing the lift.
Here's the simple solution I came up with.

You'll need the following:
Nexus 7 with back cover removed
Pill Blister Pack (Allergy pills from walmart shown)
Small screwdrivers
Scissors and/or knife
Sewing Needle (not pictured)
needle nose pliers OPTIONAL (for those with thick fingers)
First you need to make a hole in the blister for the screw to go thru.
Here I'm using a sewing machine like a drill press to create my hole.
Next, cut out a rectangle and use your small screwdriver (Bigger than the needle, but smaller than the screw)
This will make the hole bigger for the screw to fit. While blister is still on screwdriver, use your knife and run it around the excess plastic created by the screwdriver.
Remove the blister and trim the corners so that it'll fit in the round frame
Remove the screw from the frame and slide the blister in between the frame
Screw the screw back snug, DON'T OVER TORQUE IT!
Right away the screen lift is gone where the blister is installed. Repeat for each screw where the screen is lifting up.
Cut away the excess so you can put the cover back on
Don't cut it flush to the frame, leave a little so you can grab it and remove it if you need to.
OPTIONAL - use a flathead to push that little bit down to eliminate any chance of obstructing the back cover.
Snap the back cover back on and enjoy your flush screen.
depending on how much lift you have, you might have to use 2 or more to fill the gap. But beware, the more you add the thicker the frame will be and you might run into issues with the back cover not fitting snug.
Looks interesting, might give this a whirl later.
ya!
After receiving my replacement today only to find out it had the same problem I tried this and so far so good! I hope it stays! Thank you for this!
Awesome job :good:
Update: Failed. Spent Hour trying this. Keeps coming back just putting the case back on. Ill try again on Monday. Used same thickness plastic, then tried thinner, then tried IDE Floppy Cable (ASUS brand haha).

Yes thank you man, I tried it when you first posted it yesterday, I can vouch for the fix in this thread as i did the previous one, so happy that it is working for me and several others, it is well worth the 10-20 minutes to perform the fix.
I wish this would work on mine, but my problem is clearly related to a bad adhesive job. I'm almost tempted to re-glue it myself considering there is nothing else wrong with the thing but I'll give Google one more chance to send me a perfect one.
How about a donation link? I'd like to buy you a beer or 2 for your fix.
Wonderful job with the pictures man, they really helped. I can confirm that this works perfect for me too. I just did not but the tablet immediately feels better. No squishyness at all. With the previous fix (tightening the screws) the screen still felt squishy. Nothing now. It feels just as sturdy as the right hand side.

I initially thought mine may have been adhesive related.. but turns out after this fix, it really is not.
Edit: id highly suggest giving this a try, it isnt difficult, probably cannot be detected as "user modification" if you remove the makeshift washers. If you dont want to that's your call, but i think the problem is still fixable with this method.

I really would give this a shot...I'm convinced the issue is not adhesive related. My tab doesn't actually have a screen lift issue... it has been making a crunching sound that i discovered is actually just the black tape/insulation that the little black foam piece is glued to. If you remove the back cover and just fiddle with that black insulation you should hear the crunching i described. I am 90% sure that the crunching sound people are reporting is really not going to affect your devices integrity at all. Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on that one.
So far so good. Let's see whether it stays that way or not. The left side feel solid now
Thanks for the fix and the photos.

I just opened up my buddy's N7 with him, and check this out. It looks like the N7 already has some type of circular washers in this spot. OP, and those of you who have done this - did your N7s have these circular washers as well, or was that space totally hollow? I couldn't tell from your pictures. I've attached pictures so you can see what I'm talking about. It doesn't look like there's room in here to add the blister pack washers you guys are talking about, unless I really have to struggle to shove them in. Is it possible some N7s were missing these washers?

No, those were there on all of them. Those do not come out as far as i can tell. The blister washer goes in between the black round part and the back plate where the screw enters. Its snug but it should be, this will allow you to snug up the screws and alleviate the pressure on the screen. People seem to forget that only adhesive would not cause glass to bend, it would just sit loose but not protrude upward without a force behind it.
I just did what op did and everything is working fine. Fantastic work!

You, sir, are brilliant. I just did the fix and it seems to be holding well. I'll see how it is tomorrow but the logic behind it seems solid.
Thank you for sharing!
Performed the fix, and it seems to have fixed the problem on my friend's N7. The OP is smarter than stinking Asus! Bravo.
One minor issue on the N7 I did this on is the back doesn't seem to be completely flush with the bezel now in the area with the washers, but this beats the screen lifting.
Have people allowed enough time after performing this and rechecked their screens? Everyone was saying retorquing the screws was the fix, and it initially looked like it did help, but eventually the screen came back up.
Thanks for the fix, but to be honest all this seems to be ridiculous, there should be no defect in a product you had to pay good money for. I'm hoping a fix comes soon out of the box.

Hello everyone! I bring to you a review of this screen protector. if there's anything I didn't cover or if you have any questions please post them here, and I will get to them ad soon as possible.
So let's talk about what this protector is being advertised as. They said it will reduce the amount of fingerprints and smudging on the screen, as well as reduce the glare on the screen. The latter should make it a bit easier when you're outside or when you're in a room with a lot of lighting, such as s lecture hall.
Installation:
The package only included one screen protector and it is a dry install. When installing, you peel off a little bit of the adhesive protector and peel as you go. This might be good or bad news for someone looking at this, I myself preferred wet install. However when installing the protector, I was surprised to find that it was very forgiving. I had to pull off the protector 5-6 times when doing so because it wasn't fully aligned and adjust it. Finally, I was able to put it on and air bubbles were almost nonexistent. Looking closely, I see a few air bubbles but bodyguardz say they should resolve themselves. But even if they don't, it doesn't bother me.

Look and feel:
No noticeable change in sensitivity since I've put it on. The screens swipe and the tablet registers a touch with the same amount of pressure with the protector as without. I'm typing this review on the tablet using thumb keyboard and everything is comfortable! One thing to take note of is when you’re swiping, as when scrolling on a webpage, your finger may not move as smoothly and buttery as before.
Since the protector is matte, it sort of lends an amazon kindle type look to the screen. It has a very nice look to it.
I have noticed that after putting it on the screen brightness is a bit reduced. However, the difference isn't uncomfortable, and after a while you won't even notice the difference.
Anti-glare:
Now, this is an important quality that, to me, would have made or broken this product. Short answer: it works and it works well!
Now, the long answer: compared to before having the screen protector, the screen quality is certainly better. When using the tablet in my room, or lecture hall the recessed lighting or fluorescent lights would often get reflected off the screen. With the screen protector on, the lighting gets diffused and scattered and they just look like bright spots on the screen. Furthermore, reflections on the tablet of the surroundings are barely noticeable, so there is definitely improvement.
Also, the screen protector makes it possible to use the tablet out on a sunny day. You won't get the kindle like e-ink effect, but it certainly improves the usability outside.
Note about the following pictures: I don’t have another Nexus 7 to do a side by side comparison. Some of the pictures are old pictures that I had taken at the beginning of this week. I did my best to take the pictures in the exact lighting situation with the screen protector on. It’s not exact; however it will give you an idea on how the protector performs.
Also, I’ve used an HTC Desire to do a side by side comparison. The HTC Desire uses Corning Gorilla Glass (N7 just uses Corning Glass) so reflective property should be similar to each other. I set the Desire to its max brightness, however, you still don’t get a common denominator but you at least get something to compare it to.
Pictures of Tablet without screen protector in sunlight from the beginning of this week
This is a picture of the tablet from this morning before I put the protector on. Idk how I got THAT much smudge and fingerprints on. I think I might have just rubbed my finger on the screen before taking the picture
Here are two pictures AFTER the screen protector is applied
I tried running my finger up and down on the screen to see how much smudge/fingerprints it would get on:
Here are some comparison pictures from outside, next to the HTC Desire

UPDATED PICTURES
First off, I apologize. My and a group of friends who I hadn't seen in a while were meeting up for some dinner and I asked one of them who owns a N7 to bring his. As such, these pictures were taken at the restaurant and some outside. The following pictures were taken pretty shoddily with my phone's camera. Both tablets weren't in the EXACT setting to allow for a 100% accurate comparison, however, you can still get some sort of an idea.
In the picture below, the LEFT N7 has the screenguardz on it, the one on the right is stock
In the following two pictures, the RIGHT N7 has the screenguardz on it, the one on the left is stock
Conclusion:
Would I recommend? Absolutely!
Other Info:
1- If you do buy this product, I'd suggest you buy it from Bodyguardz themselves. Reason being is that they give you replacements at significantly lower prices. It comes in handy when you have to send your tab in for warranty or if the screen protector itself gets damaged, you have a replacement ready. Another advantage of this is that all future purchases are discounted by 20% (and you can still add in a coupon code for further discounts).

LOL. I was at first taking these pictures with camera from my phone, and then I realized it wasn't doing this product any justice. So I busted out the DSLR.
It's a shame they don't make the UltraTough one for the Nexus 7. I prefer that one over the HD antiglare.

No, the ridge that you see is actually that of the screen protector. Also, I was using a macro lens when taking these shots (in order to show how the screen protector was placed) and this particular lens has the tendency of "bending" things.

Take a look at the 11th picture. I didn't give it a section of its own but after smudging my finger against the screen and just running it back and forth, it didn't pick up any fingerprint. Fast forward until today, the screen looks more or less the same. If you angle the device correctly, you can definitely see some smudges, but its not noticeable (with screen off). With screen on, even at its.dimmest, its not noticeable even if you look for it.
It's held by some static cling action right?
No, its a sticky.

I have one. I think the darkness is just a camera settings thing, not light output reduction from the screen cover.I agree with most of the OP's comments; no loss in sensitivity, good fingerprint reduction, nice smooth feel, etc. However for me personally, I don't like the matte effect. Its almost like a bit of a haze over the screen. Its odd the manufacturer calls it HD. I've used BodyGuardz wet apply glossy films on other devices and prefer those films over this matte one. As soon as there's a glossy one made, I'll probably replace mine.
Lastly, BodyGuardz shipping time is a bit slow.

Thanks so much for reply. I had put my order in yesterday but hasn't shipped yet so I'd agree. This haze effect is it a bad thing? What is the purpose. I'm new to matte and not sure exactly what it is either. I usually get clear but this review spoke to me lol. And the device looks good when the screen is off from the picture.
I had got the am film screen protector but kept getting bubles. Order another batch and they came two days later with some crush in it. So I gave up on that brand then i came across this one.
Do you see grain of any sort when the screen brightness is up?
I stopped in my local Gamestop yesterday to pickup Madden 13 and ended up leaving with a Nexus 7 too lol. Ill be giving this one to my gf but I just wanted to post a few pics of some things that may be slightly different about the C80 production runs. I didnt do a complete teardown of the unit so I cant say if any changes have been made to combat the over exaggerated screen lift stuff but I have noticed a few small changes. I honestly dont think anything has really changed in terms of manufacturing but these units had just came in yesterday morning so im assuming it was a fresh batch.
First up is the box. Im not sure when they made this change but my C70 didnt have the notches on the box for easy opening. I remember kinda having a hard time separating the box when I first got my C70.

Second thing I noticed was the C80 units have a few screws missing. Im not sure if this is something they just started doing, but I exchanged three C80 units at Gamestop yesterday because me and the manager thought it was a flaw but all 3 random units had the two missing screws.
Here are a few shots of the back cover and unit. Im not sure if anything is different but maybe someone whos more familiar with the insides may notice something.
I did noticed the serial # on the rear sticker is now printed in white as opposed to black:
They probably realized all those screws put too much pressure & therefore causing lift.

Yeah I figured they did it for a reason. Hopefully we can a confirmation on this so I can know if my units are in fact missing screws.
My C80 should be at my doorstep within a couple hours. Having accidentally cracked the screen on my C60 while trying to fix the screen lift, I hope this is is void of issues.

Nice! Please keep us updated on your C80 findings. My C60 cracked randomly the other day (sent an email from it, walked to my car, looked down, cracked) and I sent it in to ASUS. Part of me wonders if the C80's are fixed enough to prevent this from happening to anybody else.

Yeah man, for sure. First thing I do after opening it will be sharing what I find with everyone. And I can 100% sympathize with a cracked screen haha, its an awful feeling that you have to eat the $200-250 and get a new one :/
I removed those 2 screws on my C70 just now If the reason is in fact to reduce the stress on the screen to reduce cracking, then maybe it's recommended C60 and C70 owners to do this too?
Hi!!!
Sorry my english is so bad...
I have just opened my tablet, it is the C80 version too. And there are missing the same screws as in your tablet.

Sweet! So I guess this was something done on purpose. I'll see if I can get a official word from Asus regarding this. It would be kinda funny if all the people returning earlier built tablets because of missing screws found out it was done like that intentionally lol.
I also have removed those screws on my C6O. The screen is not lifted now, and when i put pressure on the opposite corners of tablet, i don`t hear crackling.
I hope it will be pernament fix of this problem.

Wow this is interesting. Gonna remove those screws from mine too.
Alright, so I just got mine in the mail (my second purchase) and I was VERY disappointed at first. I received a C60...... WTF? So I open it up and the screen is flush, not lower than bezel, flush.... all around. ZERO screen flicker, ZERO light bleed, very responsive, colors are correct, no dead pixels, speakers work, some ghosting on max brightness, but that is to be expected of IPS screens. Now I need to get it super hot and see if the screen stays. If there is anything I missed I will post it. Oh, and it also looks like my box had been re-used because there was a second layer of tape on the black box. Was mine refurbished? Who cares, so far so good.

Not sure how easy your back was to get off on your last unit, but with mine, I had to use quite a bit of effort on my C70 (fingernail + credit card + force)

My last replacement was a C70 and had the screws removed.
can someone with a c08 model take a better pic of the back cover off? theres two clips on the left side that goes over where the screen data ribbon is and just wanted to know if they change those at all. this point is where a lot of people get screen lift.
As many of us, I got my tablet C8O series with the missing screws. Asus decided to remove 2 screws instead of creating a proper fix, which is crazy in my books. For those having a screen lift (even minor like I did), you can fix it very easy with few parts you can get at any phone repair shop. By "permanent fix" I mean this is my alternative to keeping on exchanging the tablet until I find a so called "flawless" one.
Important: Be aware that on the new tablets Asus started to place an adhesive band on the speakers, probably to reduce vibration. I strongly recommend you to open the case from the top and work your way down on both sides, leaving at the end the bottom and slowly opening the case to avoid damaging the adhesive speaker band.
Now, on with the actual fix. First, go get yourself the 2 missing screws and 4 stainless spacers. I went to the nearest phone repair shop and the guy working there charged me 1$ for the 2 screws and 4 spacers... I gave him 5$ for his trouble.
This is how the spacers look:

The spacers are needed because the stock screws are too long, they also produce better friction between the screw and contact area. Originally, I tried to place the spacers between the inner brackets. That made the case not closing properly and snapped a plastic tab, so I placed them on top instead:
You will work with the 4 screws displayed above, leave alone the ones at tablet extremities. Install the spacers and screws, without having them tighten. This is where the tricky part is for actual fix. In order to completely eliminate the lift, you need to press down and towards outer side the bezel. Once the bezel is warped a little, you can tighten the screw:
The picture above shows the first attempt I had with the bezel warping. If you just press it down like I did, it will create a nasty space between the screen and bezel. Instead, I placed the tablet vertically on the table with the right side against my chest and using 2 fingers I applied pressure with one finger to the bezel to create contact with the screen, while pulling it towards outside with the other finger. You are actually rotating the bezel towards outside, while pressing it against the screen to maintain proper contact. While warping the bezel, tighten the screw. Then, repeat the same process with the next screw until all 4 screws are tight to a medium torque (don't over tighten them). Before you place back the cover, verify that the bezel has proper contact with the screen without weird spaces.
After all screws are tighten, place at a 45 degrees angle the cover to fit perfect on the worked side making sure everything aligns properly. Then continue pressing down the cover counterclockwise from the worked area to snap it into place, ending with the bottom area so the speaker adhesive band glues back properly. In this way you will also avoid snapping the central plastic tab.
Before (screen lift visible on the rear):
After:
The lift is completely gone. However, you can see a very tiny lift at the bottom of the screen near the unlock icon. That is because I did not warped enough the bezel in that area. When I will open next time the case I will fix it in 2 seconds, for now I'm very satisfied with the results.
September 19th, 2012 Update:
I got my replacement tablet today. Is a C8O and has the usual minor lift as well some bezel spacing:
I was able to fix everything easy, using the same warping technique. The screen is impeccable, no more flushed colors.
Looks good, but just a warning to anyone trying this:
To the right of where your finger is in the third photo, where the black ribbon cable is, there's a tiny slot for a tiny plastic tab on the back cover. You can see the slot very clearly in the second photo. This plastic tab takes a lot of stress because of the area it's in; there's the screen on one side trying to separate from the rim, and the screws on the other pulling the frame in the opposite direction. When you close the back cover, this little tab takes all the strain of this whole push-pull action going on (which wouldn't be happening if the design was better) and is very prone to snapping. When it does snap, all that happens is the back cover won't sit right- there will be a millimeter or less gap between the back cover and frame in that area- but in any case it looks kinda bad and allows the ingress of dust and dirt. I have snapped this little tab on one unit, and the slot the tab sits in on another unit just from taking the back cover off a few times VERY carefully. The plastic tab is part of the whole screen lift problem, there's a whole bunch of stresses on the left hand side of the device due to poor design. Twisting your bezel and tightening the screws is likely to overstress this plastic tab and lead to failure. Fine if you can live with that, but I can't. Some people have broken this tab accidentally and noticed that their screen recesses nicely back into the frame, so it looks like the back cover is pulling the frame away from the screen with all that stress on the tiny plastic tab. Baaaaad design.....
I would imagine that any 'fix' that involves forcefully pulling the screen and frame together, i.e. spacers, glue etc.... will result in overstressing the plastic tab causing it to fail eventually. This tablet is designed badly, that's the bottom line. If your fix works permanently then kudos to you though!
Just be mindful of that stupid tiny plastic tab....
Edit: Having examined your second photo, it looks like your slot is snapped already. See the diagonal break on the left?
You are absolutely correct.

That's from my previous tablet, I was too lazy to take another set of pictures.
It snapped when I first had the spacers inserted in between the frame, instead of placing them at the top. The cover would not sit properly on the worked side as the space was too great.
Have you left yourself with a tiny gap between frame and back cover now, where the slot has snapped?
There's no winning with this thing.
Edit: Different tablet, cool!

I updated the second picture, showing the 4 screws to be worked with... in the same time you can see the tab not being broken.
I also warped a little more the missed area, so now the tablet bezel is perfectly aligned everywhere.
Interesting.... so effectively what you are doing by rotating the bezel is moving the screen-side bezel closer to the screen, and the component-side bezel further from the components, then firmly screwing it down in that position?
Picturing this in my head, I can see exactly why it would work. May try this on my next N7 if it also has screen lift, which it almost certainly will given that they all suffer from the same bad design.
Ya, is as simple as that: "rotating the bezel is moving the screen-side bezel closer to the screen, and the component-side bezel further from the components".
Don't go crazy on tightening hard the screws. I applied a medium torque, even if I could've tighten them further. The spacers will do the job to retain in place the bezel, as they have a larger contact surface than the actual screw.
It is interesting that the first tablet did not have the adhesive speaker band like the second one. Both tablets were batch C8O, just be careful when you open yours in case you get the new model with sticky speakers. The adhesive band is very thin and surrounds the speaker contour.
As you said very well in your post, to avoid the tab snapping all you have to do is place back the cover at angle starting with the worked area. In a way, is good that I "ruined" my first tablet. At least I learned all the quirks in order to eliminate 100% the lifting. The first tablet had some dead pixels, so I experienced on it knowing that I will exchange it anyways.
What size was the screws, I'm thinking of trying out this fix.

No idea, I brought one screw to the shop and he got 2 extra, as well the spacers. If you bring them the screw, they will know for sure. Is a common size used on phones and tablets. He even had 2 colors, the black and the stainless one.
The spacers are VERY important, they hold in place better the screws with the bezel warped and also reduce the screw length. Make sure you get the good ones, I took a close-up so you get a better idea:

BTW, congratulations on the FIRST picture I've actually seen where you can see the screen lift.
Not to sound pessimistic, but what I'm most curious about is whether or not this fix would effectively lessen any stress the screen may see, and perhaps make it less susceptible to easy cracking...?
Lol yeah permanent fix until the issue returns. Not trying to ruffle your feathers so don't take it that way but everything short of gluing the screen to the frame has been nothing but a temporary fix. I hope your screen stays flush but its plenty of threads claiming to fix the issue but none of them have proven to be successful besides gluing the screen. My screen is actually pretty flush so I never had to do any of these fixes but its seems to me that the adhesive just doesn't hold the screen down very well.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
I agree, the screen is raised primarily because the adhesive has failed. Fiddling with the screws and bezel is all well and good but the adhesive still isn't holding the screen down. Reducing the stress causing the screen to separate is a step in the right direction though.

You are right, what I meant by "permanent" was my alternative to keep on exchanging the tablet until I find a so called "flawless" one.
From reading more on the subject, it looks like there are many tablets on C7O batch that were perfectly flush. Then, on the C8O batch, they suddenly decided to remove the 2 screws.
I personally believe that the new screen adhesive they use now is better than previous models. Is a matter of managing to make the plastic bezel flush with the screen which might be technically not possible with the current prototype. If Google would've chosen Samsung as manufacturer, we would probably pay a higher price but the tablet would be perfect. I believe the Apple lawsuit scared Google from contracting Samsung, like they did with the phone. Either ways, I'm personally done with chasing the perfect tablet.

Let's see what the C9O build makes for the bad lucks I had so far... I'm definitely not giving up on Nexus 7.

I found the best fix by taking the pos back and not buying another. This is after I went through 4 with design flaws. You consumers are plain blind and ignorant sheep to accept these flaws. A brand new device and you are messing with it to fix their flaws? Morons.

Hi guys, I bought a decal skin sticker for my nexus 7 a few days ago from Stickerboy, and installed it. At first, it looked kind of weird but I think it's because I was so used to the black nexus 7. Now after a few days, it looks really nice. It feels like the tablet actually came in white.
You should also get the extreme version because that one will cover the back entirely, so it looks nice. I didn't get the centre screen protector. Not only it costs much more after that, I didn't know how it would work, like if it's a separate centre protector or if it's connected to the white front as one piece. If it's the latter, I think it will be better though as the sticker is actually thicker than I thought, so you can definitely feel it when you glide your finger from the sticker to the screen.
Anyway, I still like it a lot.
Ask me if you guys have any question!

Hey,
http://www.stickerboy.net/pages/nexus-7-1st-gen-skin-series this is the link for all the types of skin for nexus 7 1st gen.
What I have is this. http://www.stickerboy.net/collectio...lth-matte-antibacterial-nexus-7-1st-gen-skins
This is the super smooth finish version, but there is also the antibacterial one with grainy textured version for white as you'll find. I'm not sure how that one would look though. There is also this. http://www.stickerboy.net/collectio.../products/white-leather-nexus-7-1st-gen-skins Leather white. I personally think it would look a little bit weird with the texture, but not 100% sure.
I like the one I got for the most part. It's very smooth and feels nice, but when the tablet is warm, and your hands are also sticky, fingerprints stick to the back, and it kind of gets sticky from your hand, but after a short time, it just comes back to normal, smooth. and not really noticeable fingerprint. Just when the tablet is warm and you hand is sweaty.
Hope it helps!

On the white one that you have, what's it like when it comes to general dirt? Does it wipe well, or does it easily retain dark marks and become dirty-looking quickly?
As for the link to the other skins, some actually look pretty darn cool!
Does it scratch easy? How about the corners? did it require using a hair dryer to soften it up? Im always worried that the corners will start peeling

This one I have is very very smooth feel. Wipes super easily. Anything that gets on it, dirt, grease, they gets wiped very easily. But because of that, maybe it's not as grippy. But I don't mind personally.

As with my previous comment a few seconds ago, sorry for late reply! I haven't had any scratches yet. It seems pretty durable. Yea, I had to use hair dryer to soften it up the corners, then apply the corners. It's actually pretty simple. Just like you, I was worried because of the fact that I need to use hair dryer, so I first didn't buy this, but I was so temped, and decided to try. And there is a very helpful tutorial video on youtube, specifically for nexus 7 2012 version. It shows you regular fit and extreme fit, and for extreme fit, it will show you how to use hair dryer to get the corners. I followed that and it was pretty easy. Also, the video said, if you got it wrong, you should intentionally damage the skin and straighten it to reapply the corner. But I didn't do this as I was worried, I just peeled off the mistaken corner, and blow dried it and it softened up, and I just re applied and it worked fine.
One important tip, was that when you apply the corner as it was shown in video, you do the center of the corner first, then do the sides of the corner (you'll get it when you watch the video). You have to KEEP applying the blow dryer until you finish applying the corner. What I mean is..you should NOT stop the blow dryer after it seemed softened up. Keep applying the blow dryer until it softened up AND you have finished applying that one corner. Because when you stop the dryer, and apply with your finger, it will harden very quickly, and it will have wrinkles after you apply. I had this problem, and I peeled off again in the corner, and tried again, and it worked perfectly.
Hope if helps!
I had a skin on one of my older phones before. There is one thing people should think about. It didn't cross my mind until after I got the skin. Screen Protectors. The screen protector would have to go first, but you won't be able to take off the skin since the screen protector would come with it. LoL!!
This looks nice, but I replace my screen protector a bit often since it scratches. Guess I won't be getting this. =.[
