I stumbled upon this discovery by chance, while attempting to find ways to get YouTube with preloading to work.
I'm using paranoid android 1.9.7 ROM and changing the YouTube apps layout to 310px automatically enabled preloading for me and I'm able to see that option in the YouTube settings as well.
Hopefully this works for others as well because I looked around a lot trying to get YouTube with preloading to work but nothing was working.

Anyone else running into this issue? On my phone I'm able to preload videos (for those unaware, this lets you load videos in your "Watch Later" or "Subscriptions" list while you're on wifi so that you can watch them later without wasting 3G or 4G bandwidth), but the option doesn't appear on my Touchpad's version of Youtube. Curiously, they both list the same version number: 4.0.8E. I even tried reinstalling the one on my TP to see if the option appeared; it didn't. And both the phone and tablet are running ICS (CM9, to boot), so I don't know why it would be available on one and not the other.
Any ideas?

seems to be working ok over here.
I can add stuff to the "Watch Later" field, but it doesn't preload. Does your TP Youtube app have a "Preloading" tab in its settings? All I see are General, Search, and About.
I am wondering too if there is a tweak to enable preloading for youtube on Touchpad CM9 ?
My network is slow, so it would be nice to have this feature to enjoy movie fully download ?
My youtube version doesn't preloading option ... on my phone it's there.
I'm having this issue as well. My GNex will pre-load but TP won't.
I just thought i would share with you guys a fix i have been looking in to since installing the new LPX13D preview a few days ago.
Quit a lot of videos that are viewed inside of browsers try to use the vp9 codec, and by the look of things it is not yet fully supported (both in chrome and the android /framework itself).
I have spent hours of my time trying to figure this out, simply because it was just bugging me. I could have easily just watched the video in the YouTube app itself which seems to work just fine.
This fix is assuming that you use the chrome browser on your device.
Open up the browser and type in to the address bar chrome://flags
Next, find the option "Disable media source API" and press enable so it now says disable.
Now find the option for "Enable GPU rasterization" and set it to "Force-enabled for all layers"
That's it, now you can watch and enjoy your videos without the green/purple tint overlaying them.
Thanks! It worked like a charm
Awesome. Worked like a charm. Thanks.
permanent fix
Is there anyway that there is a more permanent fix for this. I am on CyanogenMod 12 nightlies and I still have that problem...
Thank you so much for this fix! Too bad this does not work inside feedly where I still get the pink tint in embedded videos
I've searched multiple forums and attempted to work with Samsung support (they want me to send tablet to them).
If I try to load a video (not take on this device) from Google Photos app, the video preview comes up but the loading circle just keeps spinning. The same video through Photos app on my android phone on the same wifi connection doesn't have any problem and loads instantly.
I've tried some replacement apps and they seem to do the same or similar thing.
I have a fairly new SM-T810 (only a few months old) and this issue has always been this way...just haven't dug into the problem until now..
Overall, internet browsing on the table is relatively quick and if I go to a site like ESPN within Chrome and play a video on the page it loads fine.
I am currently using DHCP to my router, though I have tried manual setup. I am using a 192.168.1.XXX setup.
Through forums and Samsung, I've tried the normal clear cache/data, uninstall updates, restart tablet, factory reset tablet.....and nothing seems to resolve the issue.
If anyone has a suggestion, I'm certainly open to it. If more information is needed I can certainly make it available.
Thank you in advance.
The photos app is able to stream it direct from google servers, however I think it's only a preview and not full quality or it will play the local version.
3rd party apps will play it, but will download it first.
Samsung keeps saying the only way to fix this is to send them the device. I just find it hard to believe this is a hardware issue.
Seems like it's a software issue with the tablet itself or at least it's integration of handling videos. Smaller videos seem to load after a while (loading instantly on my android phone)...but large videos never load at all (after waiting minutes). Again, start playing within a second or so on my android phone.
Hi, I have been trying to turn off video autoplay on my galaxy note 8 with no success. The video in the camera/gallery app keeps playing in the auto repeat mode. I checked "video player setting" and found "auto play next" and "auto repeat" are both off. I have tried various methods that I could find on the internet but none of the methods worked. I am desperate. Could anyone help?

Is there anything specific the default video player does and offers you that you need or is it more a convenience thing that you use it, because it's already there? I might suggest trying a different video player. I have never in my life used the default gallery for anything, not photos or videos (I use Quickpic for photos and MXPlayer for videos), and I've been using Samsung devices since the first Note came out. So, I have no idea even how the default gallery is supposed to work or behave.
I don't think it is possible to disable the auto-preview function of a video in the default Gallery app, which comes bundle with Samsung devices. If the sound bothers you you could just mute the sound in the Auto-Preview anyway.
Thank you Max_Terrible and iceepyon. After spending hours trying to solve this issue, maybe I will just have to use the default setting, even though it is not ideal.
Ive searched quite a bit. Hopefully this hasn't been addressed before. Its an issue similar to when Oreo came to the V20 and the second screen.
When trying to use the floating bar, aod, etc the only option I have is the native music player (I've gotten rid of google play). I would like any music app I am using, like vlc or audible, to be able to be controlled from these interfaces.
Does anyone have any solutions? Im on US unlocked pie, btw.
