Well first of all, hello to everyone, It's my first time writing a post in this forum and I just registered to the site a few minutes ago. I've been luring the forums for a couple days and I just bought my first android phone a few months back but I've been having so problems with the data plan.
A bought my AT&T captivate around 2 months back or so, the phone works ok and everything. The thing is, I bought the phone and got it delivered to South America. The connectivity works fine for wi-fi but I can't make the data plan works.
I downloaded a APN configuration app from the play store called "APN Tweaker" that didn't work. I talked to my mobile company already and they told me It was probably a problem from my phone.
So any thoughts or help on why the mobile data doesn't work?
What ROM are you running? I can help you if I know where to start...
Might be a little late but, I'm using stock 2.3.5. It's not rooted either.

I'm sure we've all had one at some point, so share yours.
I'll get the ball rolling....3 days ago my mom bought a new G2x to replace her Mytouch 3G. It worked fine at the store when getting her Google account on the phone, and on the way back with restoring her apps. The next day, mobile data doesn't work at all, but wifi works fine. So she calls T-Mobile to see what's going on, they say she has a data plan on her account still, everything's all good. We go to the T-Mobile store to go replace it, thinking it was bad hardware or something, to go get a replacement phone. She goes through the whole troubleshooting situation (factory reset, making sure data is enabled, etc.) still nothing. So the rep looks up our account and it shows that her data was future dated until December of next month, while my data was fine. Why the first rep who sold us the phone did this, we, or they, don't know why he did this. I think the worst part about all this, It took 5 T-Mobile reps to finally realize the plan wasn't correct
So anyways, post those stories.

They mistakenly activated a line on my family account and then tried to charge an activation fee...

I bought my Note on EBay, received Jan 3rd. Jan 29th the radio started acting up. It goes from H+ to H, 3G, E then G, then "no service", or sometimes from E to no service, then back to H+, then over again. Weird thing is, if I'm streaming [email protected] 128kbs or HQ video, it has no trouble doing it, even for long periods of time, flawlessly. I'm not being throttled, replaced sim card, tried all the APN's I could find, with the same result. As far as I know, nothing changed from the time It worked fine, to when the trouble started. I factory reset it twice also. I know Samsung US can't/won't help me, I called to make sure. They couldn't even give me a number or email to Sammy UK.
Any one experience this, and fix it? Did a setting get screwed up? How would I get Warranty work done? Or am I just screwed. I did register at SammyUK, submitted a trouble ticket. Also contacted the eBay seller, but haven't heard back, and probably won't.
I spent $700 on this thing. Any help anyone can give would be much appreciated.

Hi there. I live in Finland and bought my Note from Amazon Germany. Not exactly the same situation but never faced the issues you mentioned.
Did you try to update your device? I really doubt if the problems are caused by APNs- To me it more or less sounds like a problem with radio of the phone. I assume you are not rooted? If you would be, you could try flashing some other modem as it might help.
AT&T is notorious for coming with innovative ways to hassle the customers with non AT&T branded smartphones on their networks too....just a thought.
flash a new firmware that belong to you country.

Thanks for the replys. The seller responded and said they will take care of it. Thank goodness!

Hi All
This is a verrry basic question. My new note has just arrived. I'm currently on a contract with T-mobile in the UK with unlimited data (3gb cap). I bought the note outright on amazon.co.uk. I thought that when it arrived all I would have to do is take out the sim card from my T-mobile supplied HTC Desire (now 2 yrs old) and slip the sim into the new Note and everything would just work.
Well, Ive slipped in the old sim into the new phone and Im registered on the t-mobile (UK) network but I dont have data.
Am I missing a "settings" option I need to enable? Am I being an idiot? Are you laughing at my idiocy?
Thanks for any help!!
Do you checked your APN settings?
Otherwise you can enter your phone number here and they'll send you the settings for mobile internet.
You sir are a genius!
A million thanks
I used the link in your reply. Ive never tinkered with APN settings before, so thanks for providing the link to the t-mobile site that does it automatically for me
Now I can get on with playing with my new phone!

I have the same model....no issues on ATT. maybe an APN thing? try switching back and forth between 3g and the 4g lte...see if it is using the correct APN. Pull SIM out and then insert in...usual troubleshooting stuff (don't know what it could be without more background...unless you did nothing special and are just running stock and unrooted- i am running stock slightly modded rooted but regardless it should not be doing that...maybe the ATT folks want you to get to a tablet plan..in my case it was simply the same old phone plan that went on to the device..initially they told me I needed to wait till the contract expired to convert it to a tablet plan simply to get the nano sim...I did not wait simply got an adapter...then when the contract expired I got the nano sim-nothing was done from their end)
No dice. What apn settings are you using?

Here are my apn settings
If all else fails factory reset should fix things imo but you will lose downloaded apps and data

Hey guys,
Just a little background. I bought this phone almost two months ago, brand new, and unlocked from Tmobile. Freedom mobile was having a great promotion, so I signed up with the Note 5.
I tested this phone with a Rogers, telus, and Bell simcard so I know they all work. With freedom, 90% of the time it's searching for signal, and when it does have signal, no calls or texts go through. Ive been trying to resolve this over the phone for a month now with no luck. Hoping the xda community can help me understand what's going on. The Note 5 is on Nougat and completely updated. Any ideas?
You had better contact customer service of Freedom Mobile to check whether your Note 5 supports Freedom network.
