Kernel flash = Carrier unlock? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does flashing a custom rom/kernel automatically mean that the phone will be carrier unlocked? Does this go for all android phones or just note?

does it got to do with which country you r
While reading up about signal drops I came across this topic of baseband and ril drivers not matching which can cause 3g irregularities maybe you can look into that also could/might help

You have two options:
1 - do a factory reset and try to fix it with that. If it doesn't wait for some miracle.
2 - flash your phone what probably fix the problem. You don't need to root it.
My advice is to use LGFlash tool but, you can try to flash using official LGMobile Tool.
Just click on the tab "costumer/client support", select "emergency and recovery mode",
another window will appear, introduce your IMEI click in Check and wait for the rest.
Good luck :fingers-crossed:

Ota vs Pc

So the uptade via ota is about 300 mb but update by pc is about 800 mb which one do i have to choose ? What is the difference?

The PC Companion update is the entire rom, whereas the OTA update is only the parts of the rom that are updated.
It makes no difference which way you update.

So if the PC Companion update is the entire ROM then i can use it to update my rooted phone with custom recovery right? I mean I wouldn't be stuck in the recovery screen like it happens when we try doing OTA with custom recovery?
Thanks in advance.

can i use c6603 stock pre rooted kitkat rom on c6602??!

I like ultralizrd rom but its for lte Xperia z version
But mine is 3G version
can i use c6603 stock pre rooted kitkat rom on c6602??!
Mmmhhh... I think that you should flash accordingly baseband and kernel FTF for 6602's kikat version, i think...
Logicdictates so, because they are, the c6602 and C6603, the same hardware.
Just try

If you want to brick your device , you can surely do it
Flashing a C6603 rom on a C6602 will not brick your device, nor will it mess up the baseband (I think the same baseband is actually used on both devices regardless of the differing LTE capabilities).
Look around the forums. Many people have done so with zero problems.

Just out of curiosity, C6603 firmware can be flashed in C6602
Yes. They are basically identical.

Was not aware of that :silly:
Dont worry it will work fine:good:
My XPZ is C6602 , I have been flashed that ultralizrd rom and it worked like a charm.
According to my experience(almost one hundred times of flashing :laugh , there is no difference between the c6603 and c6602.
Do it, and you will have a C6603. At least it will report back as it was actually is LOL

Have you Applied for unlock bootloader? Worse case you have to wait for it.

The new Global required an unlocked bootloader, seems you missed that step.

of course:
i applied to xiaomi to get permission to unlock my phone here: http://en.miui.com/unlock/index.html
it took 3-4 days until they approved it.
its very easy to run their software in fastboot (even with bricked phone)
after that i just flashed an official global rom from miui website and it is working perfect now
