2 days ago I had to reinstal system on my Note. I decided to flash stock GB rom using odin with re-partition (SGN 16bg pit file). After that I flashed once again using stock GB rooted rom, and install CF kernel with CWM using mobile odin. Everything was fine. Next I installed a cooked rom (CleaNote v5, ). I thought that everything is fine till i decided to install TouchwixUX Launcher prepared to Note. The instalation process stucks on about 20%, I thought that maybe package is corrupted, I downloaded it again, but it didn't help, so I decided backup my phone using nandroid and wipe to factory data. And there is a problem:
1. I try to make a backup using nandroid, and it stops on some *.txt file and stucks. (backup include 3 files)
2. I can't do the wipe. I launched full wipe and nandroid returned a message "can't open /SDCARD/.amndroid_secure ..."
3. When I try to mount SDCARD, CWM Recovery show's the message "Cant mount SDCARD"
There is a one thing which make me sad. I tried to install CleaNote .zip by CWM Recovery once again, and instaltion process stucks to. It means that i probably wont be able to flash any other rom.
Is there any way to solve this problem?

Can you go download mode and flash gb rom in pc odin? After flashing gb rom in pc odin if still stuck go to recovery and wipe data and cache.
The way you explained it i dont believe it is superbrick.
NO NO NO - there is no superbrick My phone works, I can connect phonr to Odin, Mobile Obin, I can run in Recovery mode, but i can't for example do a nandroid backup or ful wipe under cwm recovery. I think, that there is some problem with permition to files on SD card, but I didn't meet with that problem on other rom (I used Paranoid Android (CM9 and CM10) and there was everything fine).
The reason I wrote is that I am worry if some parts of internal memory maybe corrupted, and flashing rom using Odin/Mobile Odin may caused superbrick.

Download EMMC CHECK from google play and after you run it check your heart also.
I used eMMC Brickbug Check. Result - Congratulation, test pass.
So I understand, that if there is some bug, there is caused by software, not hardware problem and I can reflash phone using Odin.
BTW - what means "Brick Bug ? - Yes. Insane chip." ?
I change kernel from stock to CF 5.3 before flashing to CleaNote. I found some info, that this kernel (cf 5.3) is not safe. Kernel after flashing ia NoteCore 12,3. Can it be the reason why i couldn't do a full wipe?
... I almost forgot - I used TriangleAway to remove flash counter. Maybe this is a problem?

E:can't mount/cache/recovery/log
E:can't open/cache/recovery/log
E:unknown volume for path[/cache/recovery/last_log]
and so on......

Hi.
You can't restore your old gingerbread stock from ICS via nandroid.
You must flash the Stock ROM with Odin.
Befor that maybe you can flash the ICS kernel again and boot into ICS, then backup your clockworkmod folder via USB. After the Backup flash a stock ROM and cf-root or semaphore 2.5.0 via Odin.... after that load your clockworkmod folder to your internal SD-Card and boot into CWM. Now you can restore your Backup from gingerbread.
Sorry for my poor english. I hope you understand me.
// use the semaphore 0.8.1 kernel for ics. Than boot your phone and save the clockworkmod folder. When dosn't work, 1. flash the stock ROM 2. flash cf-root 3 boot in cwm go to restore and look for the backup... it must be in there

Thanx mate thanx a lot
u saved my mobile from dying.
You're welcome.
my act is:
1. do a nandroid Backup of the system befor flash a new one.
2. Save the hole Backup folder on my PC and rename it like " system_old_date "
3. Flash the new system.
4. do a nandroid backup from the new system.
5. Save the hole Backup folder on my PC and rename it like " system_new_date "
With this 5 steps I'm always on the safe side.
i do the same but this time dont kno how but it went wrong and those errors poped out

I think:
The problem is ICS and Gingerbread are differnet systems, with different Kernels and paths.
When you start the restoreprocess the systemdata will be restored but not the kernel with CWM. Both systems have different paths, and so you get this error.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

That's strange. Perhaps a developer knows why that is?
Reflash
Perhaps, the instruction to installing ICS states that you should have done a full wipe (data + partition) and installed the ROM/Kernal again. It would have worked...anyways you are back on GB, enjoy
I had ICS Stunner in my Note working properly.
I needed to revert back to stock GB, so I downloaded the stock ROM from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1590284
N7000XXLC1-2.3.6-2012 March-N7000CPWLB2--United Kingdom

After that I followed these steps:

Download AbyssNote 4.2 kernel with redpill touch recovery from here- http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1362424 .
Now first put this zip on your SD Card before you try to flash anything or restore anything.
Now boot into recovery - Volume up + Home + Power
Choose - install zip from SD Card
Navigate to your Abyss kernel 4.2 zip and flash it
After flashing is complete- go back to the Recovery start menu
Go to advanced > reboot recovery
This will reboot the phone directly to new recovery - Hyperdroid Redpill Recovery
Now go to Wipe Menu and wipe cache, dalvik and do your factory reset
After this start your restore from nandroid backup , or flash any GB rom !

I've done everything up to "After this start your restore from nandroid backup , or flash any GB rom".
When I try to "choose zip from internal card" and choose the beforementioned ROM, I get the message "E:Can't open /emmc/1/GT-N7000..... Installation aborted".
If i try to choose file from external SD card I get "Can't mount /sdcard/".
I've tried flashing Abyssnote 3.9 as per this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1599229
Still same problem.
Does it have something to do, that the ROM I've downloaded isn't the same as my original ROM? (I mean the letters at the end, like LA4, KL2 and so on. I can't remember my original ones)?
And I don't have any backup.
Can someone help me get back to ANY gingerbread?
Thanks a lot in advance.

I think you should go back to any stock rootable GB ROM using ODIN. Then flash your custom GB ROM over it and then restore your apps using Titanium Backup or any such tool provided you have used the same to back up your apps.
Go to this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1535025
And download any one of the pre rooted GB ROMs and flash it using Odin
The difference in ROM title does not affect flashing
Had the very same problem. At a welknown site a registred and downloaded a original rom. A rooted rom did not worked with my Note. After that i flashed the Rom with pit file completely. And yes, miricaly it worked! My only problem was that i picked a rom which had no rooting available so i had to downgrade. I downgraded with a rooted rom and finaly i was where i left some 5 hours before, but now with a working device!!
I don't know if I can post after this time, (couldn't get my hands on that phone and check out your advice), but now I've tried it and it works perfectly - thanks!
I had a working stock firmware until I decided to install this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1793511
First it worked after few application installation and restart, I had booting loop problems, the Samsung Animation at start up then the Samsung Text and stuck in it for ever ..
I used Odin to flash to stock firmware DDKQ7_annson08.tar.md5, previously it worked. I did factory reset and wipe cache, but still the same problem,
I tried flashing for three times but no luck. I did the factory reset and wipe cache both before the flashing and after the flashing but no luck.
Please give me some ideas to fix it.
Whenever I quit the default stock firmware recovery it says Can't mount data partition
E: failed to mount /data invalid argument something like this.

Have you installed it through ClockWorkMod recovery?
The steps needed to follow precisely is:
- Install Stock GB Firmware through Odin (You'll get it from Sammobile)
(It would be helpful if you specified the link where you installed the stock firmware)
- Install CWM recovery through Odin
- Boot into recovery and wipe data/cache/dalvik-cache/battery stats
- Install Zip from SD card
- Again wipe data/cache/dalvik-cache/battery stats
- Reboot
EDIT: I guess you installed/updated to GB from this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1551586
If you updated from Froyo to GB with that link, it won't work because the bootloaders are removed from them. In order for Gingerbread/ICS/JB to work you need to have GB bootloader. So search in Sammobile and install stock firmware from there.
download stock fw from yagyagaire.blogspot.com
n then to move further..

Hello camerg,
There can be many indication of the problem that you are facing... It looks like you are from India, so I suggest you to flash this latest official Indian firmware using Odin. Full instructions are at : http://yagyagaire.blogspot.com/2011/12/how-to-upgrade-samsung-galaxy-pop-to.html
After flashing the rom, wait till Odin says PASS and then go to recovery and do a data and cache wipe and reboot your handset. Your galaxy mini should boot fine.
If your handset doesn't boot still then, install CWM using Odin and then flash any custom rom using clockwork mod recovery. Now after flashing the rom wait for few minutes and your handset should boot fine.
Good Luck and Happy flashing!
Hey man, how are you doin'?
were you able to flash it using odin and followed all of the steps these guys informing you and the links given to you.
which one, if you are stuck on the Samsung logo and it doesnt wanna go all the way through, you either go and visit the service center or if you know a repair shop, go there and your phone needs JTAGGING. if your phone is stuck on the SAMSUNG logo.
if you can access the stock recovery mode, install the latest CWM, go to the mounts and storage > select format data, cache, system, and SD-ext. this similarly happened to me. i selected the wipe data/factory reset option but it didnt resolve the problem and it is saying something like E: error cant mount yada yada yada.... i wiped them one by one and worked.
your phone wont be needing JTAGGING if you can access the recovery mode of it. it means that your phone's system (Hardware) has no damaged in it, it is your phone's software. do these steps in order for the phone to wipe everything by doing it one by one
give us a reply if this worked.
Hi
Go and flash a stock 2.3.6 ROM from Samfrimware.com using odin after you get pass sign from odin if you get boot loop clear data an cache from recovery and reboot if you get boot loop flash the file that is same to your ROM with Odin from here like if you downloaded gt-s5570 jpkt2 then the jpkt2 PDA file
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1398797
And partion your SD card to ext4 to be your new data partion and the secondary partion that you must fat if you have a 2gb SD or smaller and if you have 4gb SD or larger select fat32 and the two partions must be primary then pot your SD in the phone and reboot this will make the phone mount the ext4 partion as your phones data partion so if there are a problem with the phones data partion it will make the work again

Hi guys. I'm quite a noob, but have a good experience on flashing without be bricked (CM9, CM10, Crash, Paranoid...), but I have a problem.
I will explain to you step-by-step what I've done with my Note, so I wish some of you could help me.
1) I was running JB Crash ROM with PhilZ kernel.
2) Some apps got Force Close too often, so I went on Rom Manager and, after a look into the "Fix permissions" description ("It will fix some force closes" or something like that), I decided to give it a try and I tapped on it.
3) After that, my homescreen became unusable, because "TouchWiz Home" got EVERY TIME force closed without reason. Everything else worked fine, so I deciced to boot into CWM recovery to restore a nandroid backup of the same ROM.
4) Instead of tapping "restore", I tapped "backup" (my fault) and it started without possibility of get back. I got something like 200 Mb of free space, so in every case it will never have had success. My Note stucked at this point, so I decided to reboot manually (vol up+home+power) into recovery. Finally I tried to "restore" but I get this message: "ERROR WHILE RESTORING /SYSTEM".
5) I tried to reboot my Note, but it stucks at "Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000" screen without going on.
The good news is that it can go without problems into recovery and into download mode. What can I do? Flashing from CWM, for example, CM9 can fix this?
Please help me thanks!
1. Boot into CWM
2. Wipe data, dalvik and cache
3. Format system
4. Reflash your ROM
Don't use rom manager it's not compatible ....

After formatting /system, can I try to restore my nandroid backup? Or I have to necessary reflash my ROM? In that case, it's the same thing make it via CWM or via ODIN PC? I'm still on PhilZ recovery, which is safe I guess!
Anyway, thanks for your help
Via CWM or Odin, depends if you have your rom in the zip or the md5.tar format.
I would reflash to be clean. It's a bit more work in restoring your apps and data
afterwards, but at least you don't restore any messed up files.
if you can still access CMW and Download Mode then you probably are not brick... try fresh install through pc odin.. safe method no need to worry about bricking by fullwiping on unsafe kernel or raising triagle or binary counter whatsoever.. if you wanna play safe then PC ODIN and after that you can root your rom
Thank you guys, now I'm on stock ICS flashed via PC Odin and everything works fine I knew I was 99% not-bricked (still recovery and download mode avaiable), but I was a little scared too.
Thank you again!
glad you solved it.. :good:
After Rooting n using safe kernel, I was on RocketRom V3 and last week i updated to Ultimate Rom 5.1 JB and phone was working awasome, and then i tried to install awasome Beats throught CWM but i was not able to install it. then i again tried to install photo sphere through CWM but again same problem, when i select zip from SDCARd, after selecting nothing happens, so i thought CWM is corrupted and then i tried to restore the backup (rocketrom v3) but same thing happened, unable to even restore the backup so i was sure there's problem with CWM.
So i decided to to flash stock rom via PC ODIN and i installed stock rom N7000XXLPT, build number IML74K.XXLPY , android ver. 4.0.3.
after flashing, phone got stuck on samsung screen so i rebooted into recovery and wiped data factory n cache (i knw i was not supposed to do this but thr was no other option) and after wiping phone booted normally but i got many errors... unfortunately settings has stopped, unfortunately file manager has stopped, unfortunately software update has stopped has stopped etc etc.....
then i tried to install another stock rom (latest november) but now i m not even able to flash rom through PC ODin, FAIL... FAIL error with tht red color ...
So what could be done to get back to normal stock rom ?? Plzzz Help
is it stuck on factoryfs ?
if so, theres a big chance that doing the wipe caused the brickbug and only re-partition will fix it and bring it back to life.
before doing that, try to flash stock GB and see if it boots, if so, boot into recovery and do the wipes there, stock GB kernels are safe from the brickbug.

phone boots with many FCs and i mnot able to see any SDCARD, so its EMMC brick bug,
i guess i ll need to use PIT file method to revive from a MMC_CAP_ERASE brick

Confirmed. Apologies. Notes once you repartition, there's a chance you won't be able to run full Roms with a larger file size due to damaged sections, you'll likely face fc's and freezes. After repartition look to cm based Roms as they take up less space and should work ok.
