I was trying to fix my microsd card and came across this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=907436
I used the dd command at first for mmcblk0 which unfortunately was internal SD card. I found it out when I used the fdisk command in 2nd step. Then I exited and tried again with mmcblk1 which is external SD and at the end I tried to reboot. Now I the phone doesn't get turned on at all. No recovery or download mode too. Please someone point me to the right direction...

PS as far as I have understood I have erased some blocks from internal SD and there seems no way of formatting it again since device won't turn on. I still have it under warranty. What should I do? Go to Samsung and try to play dumb? Like I was upgrading my phone to ics and now phones not working?? Plz help..

Can you still get into recovery!?
If yes, you should flash the original pit file for your n7000 either the 16gb or 32gb. It will automatically re-partition your internal sd to its original state.
Please read more on this from the link below:

Thanks for your reply...
No it doesn't go into recovery. It just has a black screen.
Sent from my JellyBean using XDA
Try holding power button+home+volume up key for about 30 secs. Open odin, plug in your phone, try to check odin detects your phone. Sometimes the screen just goes black but it in fact enters recovery. If your phone gets detected flash the pit file and flash any safe kernels just tobe sure then flash any rom you want. Hope you get it sort out.

There are few things can try:
1. check/recharge battery
2. SS service
2. an usb Jig to get the phone in download mode
3. jtag riff box. It can fix bootloader and get the phone work again from hard brick. They have service in many countries.
GL!
@vlxdxmxr
I tried both download and recovery and connected but nothing happens. Is there any other way to make sure whether the device turns on? I remember that on lcd the devices turns black. But on amoled there is no sign of life...
@forest1971
Battery is working. It gets heated up when charged it for 3 hours. Are you sure this is just a soft brick which a jig can solve ? I mean I have changed some mmcblks. Is there any chance that download mode is gone? Then if I m not wrong a jig can't solve this since it just forces to download mode. SS is last option since I have lost my bill...
And another reason I am afraid to go to SS is because I was running a custom ROM. They might not even accept it for repairs.

Sometime a usb jig can help to get the phone in download mode. From there you can flash orig pit file and then flash bootloader (from dr.ketan toolbox). Jig is cheap so should order online and try it. If not work then try jtag. It is more expensive but almost sure will work and will fix your phone. The service may cost around 1/4 of the motherboard. If you need to buy the box itself it cost more and do it yourself with the box is not easy at all.

@forest1971 And how much would that be? I have ordered a jig already will get it by Saturday.

I think I'm having a serious problem with my Captivate. I was on Serendipity ROM, but I couldn't get google Talk, so I Backed-up my current ROM with CWM and used Odin to go back to Stock 2.1. I used Titanium backup and all to backup google Talk so I can put it on the other ROM.
I did all that, and when I was using CWM to flash back to Serendipity, it said no files in the backup folder. I thought that was weird...i just backed it up a few hours before. I thought it was just an error or something. So i went into CWM recovery mode. I got there, and tried to restore Serendipity, but it still said there were no files. I even checked the internal SD card on my comp, and the files were there. Must have been a signature authenticity thing. So I thought i would just have to start over...re-install the ROM and all that.
So i figure i would have to start over..So i clicked to reboot the system, and when it reset, it just went to the stock android recovery mode. I am now in a loop. I thought i could just use ODIN to get me back to stock, but I can't get into download mode. I've tried pretty much every button combo, and whenever I plug the USB in, it just takes me the stock android recovery.
Try this one if you havent already, take sim, ext sd card and battery out of phone. Open up Odin. Hold down the two volume buttons only. Plug in usb that's connected to computer. and then put in battery.
If this doesnt work, buy a jig. There are tons of threads that teach you how to make one, or you can buy one from a site.
ugh...yeah...I did that. That's the only way I could get into download mode initially. Thanks though.
I've seen this JIG thing around on the forums, what is it exactly? Sounds like a physical thing. What does it do? Is it dangerous?
A jig is a physical object. What it does is applys 301k ohms of resistance to the fourth and fifth internal prongs of the USB port of your phone. This forces download mode
Sent from my Captivate using XDA Premium App
Well, that sounds legitimate. Is there a possibility of physical damage? Also how bad is my problem?? However bad it is, I know causing physical damage is much worse.
Well basically, a Jig is the last resort before the phone is declared completely hard bricked. It is really hard to brick the captivate so hopefully a jig works. All a jig does is try and put the amount of ohms to the phone so it knows to go into download mode, and unless it's not done correctly, there will be no chance of physical damage.
ok thanks. Well I've tried that...didnt work. probably because of my unsteady hand, but i was doing it for a good 2 hours.
Buy one on ebay

Hi, I need some advice. I dropped my Galaxy S in a puddle. It was submerged for the just a second, but when I fished it out, the screen had gone 'weird', so I got the battery out as quickly as possible, then dried it out for a few days in the airing cupboard. I then tried it and it started up okay, then when I swiped to unlock the screen, it froze. since then I have been unable to boot the phone. It shows the Galaxy logo, then restarts and continues that loop.
I wondered if maybe the software has just been corrupted during its bath, so I thought i might try flashing a ROM onto it to see if that would recover. I found that I could not enter recovery mode but download mode opened okay. I have tried flashing a few ROMS using Odin. I am completely new to this and have never flashed my phone before, so steep learning curve. I have so far tried - I9000XWJW5 which I believe is normally used before installing Cyanogen mod. I also downloaded the T-Mobile Stock ROM and one with this filename - CF-Root-XX_OXA_JW4-v4.4-CWM3RFS. All of these successfully downloaded to the phone and I could see the progress bar on the phone. Unfortunately I still cannot get the phone into recovery mode.
So, whats your opinion? is my phone screwed? Is there anything else I can try which may help, like formatting or anything like that.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
try search for value pack 2.3.6 and flash it then root it after that I believe you should get the recovery option.

Can I do that without being able to get into recovery mode?
I've just been reading that I can use a PIT file to repartition during flashing. Is it worth trying? I noticed in the Value pack TAR file it does not have a PIT file. I got one downloaded from somewhere else called - s1_odin_20100512.pit worth a shot?
I tried including the pit file as well. Odin reported success but phone is still continuous boot loop and I cannot get recovery mode up. Do you think one of those USB things that get you into download mode would help? I'm beginning to think the internal SD is knackered, or something like that.
I think the memory is brocken but i don't realy know. Send it to Samsung for a check

Title says it all. Woke up and the phone would not turn on (thought it was SOD). I pulled the battery and rebooted, but it would just stick on the Att boot logo. Tried full wipe/cache/dalvik but not avail. Odin'd back to stock and seemed to work, but realized that everything was installed to the external sd and the internal would not mount. The computer would not read the internal either. At this point, I honestly do not really care to go through a lot of troubleshooting to fix it. If anyone wants to mess with it, use it for parts, etc., let me know. I also have about 3 spare batteries, one of which is a 3200mAh. That being said, if anyone has some simple ideas let me know. My thought is that the internal sd is shot.
I'm gonna take a wild guess . .
you were on an ICS rom and you got the Encryption Unsuccessful message? if you search for EU bug, you will find several tgreads ob the topic.

Was on slim (4.2.2) and did not receive any error. It was completely unexpected. As to the number of batteries, I enjoy camping/backpacking and need multiple batteries when out for more than a couple of days. I honestly don't know how many I have because they are scattered across camping bags, briefcases, etc. No telling how many I actually have.

Well, I lost cwm when I odined back to stock trying to fix the issue. Through this process I seem to have lost the ability to get into download mode using the three button combo. I'll try to jig it tonight and see if I can install can. If so, I'll report back with my results. Thanks guys.

Yea, I'm aware of that. Just not thinking when I was typing. I got it into download mode with a homemade jig. Can't get odin to recognize it on any of my computers at home (no matter what cable I use). Was able to get heimdall to recognize it on one of my usb ports. Tried one of the oneclick packages from AdamOutler. Everything looks like it installs correctly. Phone reboots, shows att screen, boot animation, galaxy S logo, then the screen goes black. If I press the hard keys, they light up, but nothing shows up on the screen (even if I press power button). At least it looks like information is being uploaded to my internal sd (external is removed). Where to go from here......

Use Odin/Heimdall from this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18370912&postcount=3
Btw, Odin won't work on same usb port as Heimdall as it installs it's own drivers.
Tried the heimdall one click. No errors in flash. After the flash, it reboots into recovery and gives me the error "failed to mount /sdcard (No such file or directory)". If I reboot, I just get stuck in a boot loop.

It was removed when I tried it last time (i.e., I tried to flash with the external installed and without). I am pretty sure that the internal sd is shot. I had a problem with some block errors a few months ago and believe that they finally got the best of me. A buddy of mine runs a mobile device repair shop and is going to take a look for me. Hey guys.
I got here a Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 (without i) and this phone doesn't turn on. Sometimes I'm getting into the "Emergency dload mode" but the usual download mode or recovery doesn't work. In december 2012 i flashed CM7 on this phone, after that I did nothing which could brick the phone. If I'm trying to plug it into my computer to odin that device the computer doesn't recognize the phone ("USB-Device not recognized", so it's not a driver problem, the whole device isn't recognized). If I turn the phone into that emergency dload mode by pressing volume+home+power this mode disappears after a few seconds, sometimes after 3, sometimes after 6, sometimes after 10 seconds. Can it be the battery? I already charged the phone half an hour. Do you think I can reanimate that phone? Or you think i need to jtag it?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Did you take the battery out before pressing all the buttons? I've bricked mine a few times now (noob) and have managed to get a connection with Odin each time. Sometimes takes a few attempts, poss to do with my hands being too small to hold all buttons and put battery back in. One time, Odin took several minutes to find the device.
It's probably not a good idea to be using a flat battery. And do try re-installing the Windows standard drivers. Don't give up! If a noob can do it ...
So I sent that phone in service. They said, that the software was modified and the warranty is void. I said, they shouldn't repair it and send it right back. When I got the phone back, it worked! They flashed a new bootloader, found out that it's rooted and sent me back. Good method to get it repaired
That's so funny.
Help with my galaxy ace bricked
Hi guys, im using a rooted 2.3.6, then i did the partition for link2sd, and everything worked perfect, however since i downloaded some apps first before doing the partition, i decided to do factory settings on the phone settings so it would be like a fresh internal memory then begin downloading when link2sd is already placed, however after doing factory reset on settings, my phone just keep on rebooting, everytime i open it, i downloaded the firmware in sammobile, as per advised, however im not sure how to flash it. should i use ODIN, or use CWM and do this process.
Using CWM.
Copy Zip to SD Card
Reboot into recovery
Wipe Data/Factory Reset
Wipe Cache Partition
Install Zip From SD Card
Flash ROM
Reboot
or should i follow this instruction via odin

Galaxy Ace 2 18160
Hi,
My son had this phone and rooted it, bricked it and dumped it. I would like to see if I can make it work again. It is hard bricked so the three button combo doesn't work. Can this be phone get working again?
I got my Galaxy Note today, I was on 4.0.4 and I rooted it. Then I went to recovery mode and flashed teh recovery there is on clockworkmod webpage for Galaxy Note N7000. After that wipe factory and flashed PA 3.94, and it got stopped and reppently it turn off and I am not able to turn on the phone.... please need some help
the recovery for N7000 is in the kernel so the clockworkmod website flash of CWM doesnot stick.. boot into download mode and flash a stock rom ( preferably JB) and start again
I cannot access download mode I think....
Was it Cwm.zip by any chance?

As an ex-N7000 owner (I still browse these forums from time to time), I can tell you the Temp (non-touch) CWM you flashed is safe for for wipes and formats (hence no problem when you did factory reset with it). HOWEVER it is is not safe to flash ROMs where the zip file contains an updater script with format commands coupled with an update binary which does not suppress "secure erase" commands (Running on top of On ICS kernel - subsequently fixed by Samsung on JB kernels).
With CM.10.* ROMs there is no problem, but some ROMs still use bad update binary (probably from Android kitchen). I feel PA is the culprit in this case.
So it would now seem you are 'Superbricked". Only solution is repartition or new MOBO.
Edit: J-Tag won't work unfortunately.
Will try repartition, if not will try JTAG and if it doesn´t work will send it to service centre. But how to repartition if I cannot access Download Mode?
Download Mode is essential in order to flash required modified PIT file for repartitioning. I assume you can't enter recovery mode either right? That being the case service center is the way to go. J-Tag can't fix bricked areas, but may be also able to re-partition.
Good luck :fingers-crossed:

I mean I cannot access download mode, or maybe idk how to do well, but if I cannot access download mode that maybe means I am hardbrick and not SuperBrick, and Hardbrick can be fixed via JTAG or at least it says here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1656635
I just tried adb devices, not found. I connected Odin, not found. I try access recovery mode, impossible and I tried download mode(maybe idk how to ) impossible.
Also I have not battery signal when I connect phone for charging...
I think you may be both hardbricked and superbricked at the same time (Same as what happened to me). That is the worst case scenario Practice download mode more to see if you can get into it, and, if successful, flash stock GB with PC Odin. Otherwise try repartitioned PIT file from @hg42.

And if I get download mode via JTAG and then repartition? I mean the only solution to bricked areas go good is via repartition,no? And for repartition I need download mode...
I AM STILL THINKING OF THIS, BUT NO SURE
There are three types of bricks for N7000
a) Soft Brick - Stuck at Samsung Logo [Added BootLoop here]
b) Super Brick - Stuck at flashing Factoryfs.IMG in ODIN . Also called as EMMC Bug....
c) Hard Brick - Sorry Unrecoverable by this guide. Try THIS
d) Dead Brick - No charging battery sign also - Mostly = Hard Brick ; But there is a window of possibility by a JIG.
If that guide is good, my device is on d) , but idk what JIG do
I mean if I JTAG will I can use my device? What problems will it have? And if I use JIG, what problems I will have? WIll it work good?
I have just see this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0SX3iDuIZc
Do that video says I have to JTAG, then use the JIG for going on download mode and then, repartition or install JB ROM from Odin? Please just say me, I can try today
OKey have just commented with some DEVs. Jtag will repartition all for get it booting, so I am gonna try the JIG for see if I can get download mode. If I cannot I will make JTAG(will repartition) and then I will use the JIG for get into download mode(I also can make with hands), so if JTAG work I just need to flash JB via ODIN, my question is, can somebody send me a guide or link for JB to N7000 via ODIN?
