Jrummy's font installer for root - Motorola Droid Bionic

I regrettably did not read the reviews on the soft bricking issues from this app. I recently updated my bionic to the .232 ics. After installing a font, a reboot of my phone ended in a boot loop. Any ideas?

The same thing happened to me . I used the rom toolbox and tried to change the font . It asked me for su permissions at least 10 times the rebooted my tf201 and it was stuck on the boot screen. I tried to cold boot it and nothing. I then by mistake wipe the data and now I dont even get a cold boot menu. I have it for less then a year and dont know if it will be covered by the warranty since its rooted and unlocked. This sucks and it kind of makes me regret experimenting with these devices.

rom toolbox needs some new stuff

Boot images.

Don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but I thought I'd try to contribute... I flashed liquid today and ended up hating the boot image but loving the ROM. So as I was contemplating my options I remembered I had jrummy's Root Tools from my Droid x. Since jrummy usually builds for Motorola's[?] It hadn't crossed my mind before but Root Tools does have some alternate boot images available and an option to back up you current image. Long story short root tools will work to change boot image on tb. Still wondering if notification bar editor will work since it has only been tested on Motorola's and apparantly that messes with some framework stuff which could have some serious consequences.
*edit* font packs also work.

Cant update my rooted Droid4

Hey, I wanted to know if there was a tutorial for updating my droid 4. I couldn't find one on the internet. The problem is that when I go to do a "Software update" [Update to the new ICS] it fails. My phone restarts and goes to the update-dios-thing but 1/2 way into it the logo on my screen changes, my phone starts, and when I unlock my phone it says "Software update failed". Does anyone have a fix? I'd love to hear back! Thanks for reading this!
I would suggest to flash 4.0.4 fastboot files. it's the cleanest way. And wipe all is a recommendation.
My Droid 4 does this also. I got the phone the day it released and rooted it 2 days later. Everything has been fine since then except for getting an update for 6.13.219.en.US a couple of months ago. It constantly fails so I've been ignoring it. But now ICS is out I need to get this figured out. Instructions on flashing the fastboot files? I'm decent with computers but n00b on this kind of stuff.

I have an update pending resolution of this issue as well. 6.16.217? Just came through a few days ago. Tried temp unroot with voodoo rootkeeper, then unfreeze all apps, then update. This failed. Haven't had much time to try much else.

Thoughts
I have had the same issues after rooting and running safestrap. One thing to check is to re-enable root if you simply disabled it through ota rootkeeper or something similar. Then download a root file explorer such as root browser lite. Go to cache/recovery/log or last log. Open as a text file and scroll to the bottom. The offending app or issue will be listed. Either unfreeze it, or try to find a replacement. Good luck!
I can't get root back ever since I updated to ICS. Cnat figure how to root it again. Root fails every time. Does anybody know what I need to do in order to root properly.
Thanks,
John

Is rooting really that good?

I rooted my phone a week ago, I kept with the stock Rom for a few days, then installed a Renovate sense 6 Rom which seemed to work well. I had SuperSU installed, plus a few other apps, but then all of a sudden I got an error message when trying to open SuperSU saying the binary was missing, so I downloaded a root checker which said I wasn't fully rooted! After looking on the forums to find a solution I relocked my boot loader and unrooted the phone. Trying to find a stock RUU for my phone ( unlocked Europe version ) was a bloody nightmare. Also getting it to install on my phone was a pain, but probably more to do with my computer having a slow moment.
Is it really worth all the hassle when I can all go wrong in a couple of days ?
Don't think I'll be re routing again any time soon

the phone never come unrooted .. you never had root installed properly
when it's flashed correctly from recovery it will not just go away
http://download.chainfire.eu/396/SuperSU
Flash that from recovery and you'll be rooted
I had SuperSU installed, everything was fine, anything I did with the phone worked. After a week it said the SU binaries were missing, and you couldn't get into SuperSU to do anything, but previously you could. If the phone was never rooted correctly like you say, i would have had this problem from the start.
Also after rooting I used a root checker which said I was rooted, but after this Su binary issue started, it said I wasn't rooted.
Still, I'm back to unrooted now, and the only reason I did it was to get Sense 6, which has since come out as an update, so I'm no worse off

This is a rom issue not a root issue. Could have also been an issue with the kernel. To be honest if you dont really use the root functions then there maybe no need for you to have it. To be honest most people dont really need root. They just wanna seem cool with some things they can show off on their device instead of using it for anything important or handy. I would advice to judge for yourself. Take the extra options/security risk and weigh it against remaining stock which has less options/secure.
I agree with the previous post, if you don't know what it is, you probably don't need it. As far as SuperSu disappearing, it sounds like either you didn't install it correctly or something changed. The ideal way to install SuperSu is to install via the recovery. And even so, if you reinstall your OS, you will need to reinstall SuperSu. Software does not simply disappear, something had to be done to hasten it's departure. An easy fix to your issue would have been to download the SuperSu zip package from http://download.chainfire.eu/supersu, and install it via your recovery. What I personally don't like about locking a bootloader is that now it says TAMPERED at the top of the screen.
Your issues seem to be with the restoring to stock process which HTC do make a bit convoluted, triggered by the root error not rooting itself.
Now to answer your question: My main reason for rooting is I want to take fine grained backups. Second is lots of clever people have come up with mods and improvements I like to install over the stock Sense ROM.
If you don't need anything that needs root, no need to root. Simple as that.

The device has no bootloader system data or internal. It needs to have those things reinstalled but phone refuses to install system without boot loader so i need to know if it is possible to install the full amdroid update package and possibly if i could replace the twrp with official android recovery to install official os that way. What happened in the first place is (my little stepbtothers device he asked me to root it) my lottle stepbrother saw there was an os update and told it to update and when he did it went to update but wiped the system cache data and the bootloader was inactive or something in preparation of the update and i need to fix it and will unroot and/or never root it again until he knows not to do that until im sure there are none left.

If the phone has no bootloader, as you say, it's hardbricked.
If it's your situation see my guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-l90/general/guide-unbrick-hard-bricked-l90-variants-t3173429
If not, you need to explain what's wrong with your phone, because in the video I can't see any bootloop.

Nexus 6 shows 4,000% battery life after root?

I got my Nexus 6P for Christmas, and I decided to root my Motorola Nexus 6 from last year. I've been waiting to do this for a few months, and was excited to finally enable several of the options I couldn't otherwise enable (such as double tap to wake and auto rotate on the lock screen and Google Now launcher). About an hour ago I got around to rooting and done so with little issues. It's been a little under an hour since I rooted, and I just now noticed that the battery life is being displayed as having over 4,000% charge. I rooted following the steps in a YouTube video by DroidModderX and the device is running perfectly fine. The device hasn't died yet, and I'll be interested to see when it will die. The battery life seems to fluctuate between 4,001% and 4,204% (Those two figures being the highest and lowest figures respectively). Rebooting does not fix this error.
I know it's not a massive problem, but I'd like to know what's causing this issue and how to resolve it. I haven't flashed any custom OS's on my phone, I'm still running stock Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with the latest December security patches. The device is carrier unlocked also. How can I fix this?
Thanks,
Eamonn.

You need to use updated root files. The battery issue arises when you're on 6.0.1 but aren't using the right file version. Easily fixed not to worry, just re-root with updated files and it will resolve with no lasting harm.

Ah, thank goodness. I'll re-root tomorrow and post back if I have any problems. Thanks!
Thanks, that fixed the issue. I re-rooted and everything is working fine. I flashed the ElementalX kernel. However on boot I now get a warning with a red triangle saying "Your device is corrupt. It cannot be trusted and may not work properly". This warning goes away, and the phone proceeds to boot up successfully. Everything on the device works perfectly fine with no issues. I am successfully rooted running Android Marshmallow 6.0.1, but this screen scares me somewhat. I rooted my Galaxy SII and I have a yellow triangle on boot but only on the Samsung splash screen. Is this something new in Android M or something unique to Nexus devices? I researched this a bit and found one post on Reddit that said this happened in the M previews, and that it was nothing to be concerned about. Is there a way to remove this screen, or is it just like the yellow triangle on the SII? Should I even be concerned with this, or is it something to just dismiss? Is my device at risk any more than normal when rooting, and have I done something wrong? I'm a bit of a newbie at the rooting stuff, but I intend to use my Nexus 6 and SII to learn more about it (and my 6P way into the future, once I get a new phone).
Thanks in advance.
Why did you need root for the Google now launcher?

What do you mean? I can run the Google Now launcher perfectly fine. Root works fine as well. The problem isn't with the Google Now launcher but with the warning on boot. I didn't need to root, I chose to. Am I misunderstanding?
Your original post made it seem like you need root for double tap to wake and Google now launcher.

https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24269982087021512 gives you 6.0.1 bootstack for Nexus 6 (shamu). Flash this in TWRP. This should fix your corrupted boot splash screen. It's new in Android M when you've installed custom kernel and/or roms. It does not hurt anything except Android Pay is unlikely to work once rooted.
EDIT: I forgot to included mmb29k, non-encrypt boot.img made by GerardF: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24340319927534323 (flash this also after you flash the bootstack).

Worked perfect. That got rid of the corrupt message. One last question: (This is the last one, I swear! ) Are you saying that Android Pay won't work at all after rooting or that it wouldn't have worked if that screen had have appeared on boot? I hope to use the service if and when it comes to the UK.

I would have kept it at 4,000% - that's like 2 weeks of battery life with no charge...

Haha if it wasn't a display error I might have (Though it would have only been like 3 days on the Nexus 6 )

Sorry, I don't remember where I got the updated files now. I do remember sticking to looking on XDA and not just searching randomly online, maybe you could try searching the forums?
is it possible to root with chainfire root files. I did a clean install of the January security update, then flashed the latest boot.img from chainfire then flashed SuperSU 2.66.zip through TWRP, but im still getting this. I received this same issue with the last patch. Im at the point where it isnt worth rooting. Any help would be appreciated.
