At the moment I using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1818198 but I can't view images as it crashes.
I might install http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1775257 but you have to format and create partitions.

There is no such thing as "the best rom", each Custom rom is unique.
It depends on what you want, if its cyanogenmod7, or cyanogenmod 9 or just a rom based on a stock rom?
i liked DroidAce v2 is very faster and stable.
The best rom is the one which you don't use currently!

Stock Cupcake firmware!
Very less processor and ram usage,

you have been here longer than i am, so i would think that you are supposed to read and use the search functions of this forum than just wait up for answers from other people that may not come at all.
if you are afraid to root, go no further. if you take the risk, then go all the way and test all the available roms and decide which one suits your taste. it's your phone, it's your risk.... do not blame anyone if something bad happens, because if somebody answers your question "which one would you recommend" and somebody does recommend a specific rom, and you BRICKED your phone in the process... you will curse whoever gave you that suggestion.
I found Rocket Rom v22 used with franco v6 kernel very fast and stable. I got my best benchmark scores using this setup.
Now on Midnote ICS and while very smooth it doesn't have the same benchmark scores. (Not that they mean much as it feels quicker in daily use).
To sync FB pics with contacts install FB app then go to settings/accounts and sync, add FB account. It will ask you what to sync eg all contacts etc

Galaxy S I wasn't made for 4.0 so I think its better to put something that will be stable and the buyer will be satisfied with it.
if you want to sell it the best deal would be to make it stock , with stock recovery, and latest stock rom. All custom roms have bugs and problems, which necessit reinstaling or updating. If the buyer knows how to work on android he will flash whatever he wants. If he doesn't, it is better with all the bloatware from samsung and every other app and option working properly.

Hi guys and girls!
Hope you are all doing well. Anyway, I rooted yesterday and am running a new kernel (speed mod k13 I believe) anyway. What I am after now, is as the title says, a light, fast rom with decent battery life. I was wondering if anyone had suggestions or experiences and could suggest something. Would a CYANOGEN from work? When I had my galaxy s I was using 7 and found it really good. But are there others?
Cheers!

Cheers!, really liking the look of paranoid android, especially the hybrid roms! it has been a goood while since i flashed a rom, so need to figure out what i have to do again. lol, thanks, if you can provide any tips on moving to this rom from stock ics with speedmod kernel, it would be helpful! I dont really want to flash a rom without doing the backup... even though in the past, i have done (old phone) is it imperritive to make a backup?

What exactly you want to backup from old rom, apps? If so then use titanium backup. I never backup whole rom as it hardly takes 15-20 minutes to setup rom if you have backup of apps.

Yes, as with any AOKP/ CM9 based rom..
There are alternative apps that could be used.
Otherwise, there are some excellent choices when it comes to Touchwiz-based roms as well.
Some are available themed to the AOKP look, if you prefer.

First of all thanks to chuandinh, I ported his method he uses for the galaxy note to dualboot. Related thread here. I made it working for our device
Important: If you´re not sure about something, ask and dont do it. Only apply this method when you´re a 100% sure.
I´m not responsible for things that happen to your device! It may be not safe. Everything is tested (so my device should be damaged first ^^) by myselfe but its your decission to actually use dualboot on your phone.

What you need: You need to understand the following lines and you need to have ~2gb free on your internal sd.
Rom requirements: Till now both roms have to be android 4.2.2!
Step 1: Download all files we need
Go to the download page at team-blockbuster and download all files on the page
Those are: dualboot_setup_06042013.zip, greenblob-1.1-lts.zip, boot_to_sd.zip and boot_to_phone.zip.
Step 2: Understanding how it works
- Setup the system you want to have as second rom (the one on sd). Flash anything you want to modifications etc. (apps etc. can be installed later). A wiped rom is always better
- Flash dualboot_setup_06042013.zip. It copys all kernel related files needed to your current rom and pushes your rom to sdcard. Default rom to boot is the phone rom, not the created sd rom seconds before. You´re SDRom is stored in sdcard/SDRom/rom1. greenblob-1.1-lts.zip and reboot
- Now flash your second rom. This is the phone rom. Remember to flash greenblob-1.1-lts.zip after it! You would not run greenblob 1.1 with dualboot otherwise
You´re per default always booting to your phone rom. If you want to boot sd rom you can (theoretically) press home button when the Galaxy S2G starts to pop up. Its not really working yet thats why you need the files boot_to_sd.zip and boot_to_phone.zip.
Boot into recovery and flash the file boot_to_sd.zip to boot to sd or boot_to_phone.zip to boot to phone
Step 3: If you understood everything execute the instructions
Thats it!
Ask twice if you havent understand something! I hope this guide is easy to understand. For me its sooo easy as I developed these way to boot But its hard to explain.
I will improve the method on dualboot from time to time to make it easier for you
You can suggest features below

Did you mean this?
- You installed the sdcard rom then flashed gapps for phone rom? Then the gapps are only on your phone rom
Everything thats on your phone at the point where you flash Dualboot_setup4 everything from system gets packed into sd rom.
So if you want gapps in your sdrom you have to flash sd rom, flash gapps then flash Dualboot_setup4

No boot_to_sd and boot_to_phone does not wipe any data.
It only changes one value that makes it booting to sd/phone

Hi,
I just learnt how to create a custom rom using android kitchen. Thanks to the developer.
The rom i always wanted for my s5830i is some thing that has the bare minimal things, with no bloatware and based on stock rom.
Mainly because s5830i is not a hi-end mobile.
I always wanted this rom, but couldn't find anywhere so i learnt and made a rom myself.
Does it actually make sense to post a bare minimal rom in this forum. The roms i have seen so far are heavily customized.
Please let me know your thoughts.
Regards,
Bala.
