No defaults are set, that is why i am asking this

Install Opera or Chrome from play store and whenever your phone is trying to open a webpage it will ask for a selection of browser. You can choose from that and set it to default by checking the option present at the bottom
Cheers
I jave already a dolphin broqser and no it doesnt aaks anything,i know what u mean ,beacausw when uaing other apps it asks which browser to use,but not this one

Is the browser on Gingerbread truly awful?
Im gonna agree. I have problems navigating back on all gb roms, sometimes it just locks up and refuses to do anything, other times it takes ages to load pages.
I've given up on it and use maxathon browser.
Would be nice if we could use the browser from 2.2

I really hate the default browser on gingerbread, I hate it so much that I went back to froyo because of that.
The part I do not like is where I can't scroll a long page all the way from top to bottom with only one swipe. Samsung for some reason copy that crappy iPhone thing to this phone.
the reason I keep using the default browser not 3rd party one is because it continue to load when the screen is off. Yes, I only have EDGE connection.

I've also had many problems with it before i went to CM7.
Why using default browser?
Dolphin works just fine.
I find dolphin quite slow tho.

xda premium....well worth it
Xda same with tapatalk.font size still small. It only can select 2 font size.
I'm just using the standard browser of the GT8.9 (which is way better than dolphin, opera & the rest in my opinion) and it works perfect for this forum (in landscape mode).
I feel opera better.

i can't stand not having tabbed browsing so i uninstalled all my forum apps. both standard browser and opera are fine for me.
I also wish there would be a larger font option in the App besides two they have now.

Personally, I use tapatalk HD for this. Hands down one of the best app around when it comes to forum.

I can't seem to locate this 8.9 forum using the xda app.
It lists the old 8.9 Dev forum under 10.1, but not this one.
Or maybe I'm just sleepy and need to go to bed?
Ok I recently tried going on to Louis Vuitton's website and it loaded the mobile site, I looked around for the desktop version button but it seams I'm stuck on the mobile site
So I was wandering if there is any user agent apps to change change the settings I know ics has a request desktop version button but untill then what's the solution?

You can change useragent in the stock browser by entering: about:useragent in the browser, but it will reset itself every time you exit the browser. You can also install Opera, Boat Browser or Dolphin (and many more) and set the user agent in the settings.
You've got too much disposable income if you browse LV!

Thanks ill try that out, I prefer the original web browser, pretty weird they don't use chrome browser as default browser and you cannot import chrome settings and bookmarks from desktops

Hey I just checked and there is no, about option in the browser to switch the UA
Composed on my Samsung Galaxy Note using XDA Premium app
Do you type it into the adress field? if "about:useragent" doesn't work then try "config:useragent"
Well, in CM7 and Streak Froyo/GB it is "about: debug"
I just tried it and that brings up a ton of different options under more and settings... But no UA.
I use Dolphin for desktop mode... when I'm not running CM9 alpha.
Its about:useragent

Fyi.... ICS in fact does automatically syncs your chrome bookmarks and of course has request desktop site as a menu option.
Ok I'm sorry I didn't realise you have to type it in the address bar I thought it was in the settings but i got it figured, I just hope the ics would be worth the wait I mean comparing it to the ios 5 doesn't really seem that big of a deal, does have cool features but..... still lacks alot

I was wanting to run the version of the browser that is included in CM9 or 10, I forget which, I tried to force its installation by putting in system apps. It runs, but crashes when entering an address in the address bar, or when deleting from it. I was wondering if anyone out there has found a way to use this version. I want to use it because of the User Agent setting it has.
Any ideas?

I mean the app is usable, but the address matching as you type is what seems to be breaking it.

Well... I placed it in /data/app/ and it opened fine, Google searched fine... But did f/c when editing the address bar.
I'll have to dig a bit deeper.

Maybe I should have asked "does this browser work?"
Sent from my KFHD using xda premium
It works just fine for opening links, but typing an address is a no go. FC. That is why I would love to get the app to work, it is a great browser, and have used it on an old Fascinate for quite some time with absolute success...

Is it just the stock browser in CM9?
I've been running this version (from CM9.1) without any issues - http://www.mediafire.com/?yq6m4exyoh2z308
Omg... thank you that one works great! No more crashes when typing url in. That is exactly what I wanted on my kindle.
