So what are your greatest/wtf/funny/G.O.A.T Moments with OB
Starting with me(WTF MOMENT)
My power button got killed so i could wake the phone or turn off the display..so to keep the phone awake i used a ebook reader with night mode in lowest brightness and to wake the phone i used the power cable... and to power on i used the power cable method(plugging and suddenly removing the cable) LOL that was the most frustating week of my life
Sent from my LG-P970 using xda app-developers app
first time my phone fell...nothing
second time a less fatal fall...some scratches to back cover
(many times in between)
last time...while recording some funny stuffs...it had a stunt
my ob got "no sim inserted" problem...i freaked out
captured the photo of two best cameras (canon 1DX and nikon d4)
took pics of my gf
I don't have any great moments

And then, smoke churned out from my bag... by the time i took it out, Optimus Black really is Black. Sent it to Service center... they said the Core was burnt out. Zues 6.39n 1350MHz with 3G Turbocharger.
My Greatest Moment with my OB was after starting my Phone with the Developer (Zeus) Rom
Fast and smooth .. never seen bevor on this Phone

My WTF moment was when I bought this phone and months after, I heard: "No updates for Optimus Black", and I said: "FFFFFFFUUUUUUU LG"
there was once i was having fun with my friends when they started doing some really funny stuff.
i took out my OB to film it down, but when i played the recording back i noticed that there was freezes in between the video.
i hated my phone ever since. tried diferent roms and the problem persists, could be with my SD card though. but there's no way im swapping out my 32gb class 4 for another one.
Mine was inexperience flashing my under guarantee ob i was so afraid most amazing is when my gf sawn her pic in nova display wid crispy clearity

I bricked my ob two days after I got it and had no windows... (I use Debian). So I waited a week for a friend to come back. My first smartphone ever... bricked in two days...
Then I was reading about "gorilla glass", my kitty came and - mimetism, I think - decided to tap the screen and made a scratch.
It fell three times the same day... only few little scratches that proved my friends their Iphones were made like cars: made to break as soon as possible...
And, the best, when I compared screen size and phone weight to my friends' Iphone. There was an advertisment sayin' "when you have an Iphone, you have blahblah"... and I was jokin' "you have a real tiny screen..." lol.
And last, when my friend adked me to make a wifi point for him to use his Ipad in the train. I was like: "so... how's android?
And the fun I got using stuff in here. Gorgious. Thank y'all.

My greatest moment is when i use my p970 to actually make a call (or receive one). I know its not as fancy as you kids with your "bricking" and "repairing" or "myspacing" but im ok with that :silly:
But Seriously, nothing happend
When I realized how to install the last firmware (V20N at that time) on my brand (damn TIM) OB.
Jump from V1.0a (or something similar, I don't remember) to V20N was a great thing..
Oh, all this thanks to LGExtract and SmartFlashTool.

pretty much the same about LGOB vs Iphone XD...
like a month after I got my OB, just root it and flash cm7 like a year ago so it was way unstable, so some friends and I were at a concert and I was like your phone can't do this and so on... start recording a video while the best song playing, phone self-rebooting... priceless XD
Finding out I can improve the performance/behavior/interface by finding xda, before buying the phone (my first droid), therefore deciding I shall buy it. That Froyo look sure is fugly.
well i always see my exam result in my phone....... don't know why but i always pass all the exams when ever i see through my ob its the best and the luckiest phone ever
When I showed my OB in a club and it got me laid......
just sayin....

Hi guys,
I have an HTC Desire, i like it and i love it, but i think it lacks on many features as compared to Galaxy S. So here i am guys i want to buy a Galaxy S for my brother, who actually wants a blackberry, i have convinced him that its way better.
So anyone who is using it can tell me how is it as far for contacts and messaging, and other features??
Thanks
to be honest.. Its pretty sh*t.. sorry but 3 days I had it.. Desire is sooo much better!
Galaxy S- buggy OS
laggy
bad battery (very!!)
screen too big to operate with one hand
etc etc thats my experiance with SGS..
I have to disagree with the above poster, I have had the Vibrant (t-mo galaxy s), for a little over a month now, works great. Sure the stock load sucks, but most do ..
Would not be posting on XDA if you did not know about custom roms.
Battery life, depends on what you leave running, I get at least a full day if I don't leave a Shload of things running, mine is rooted and use setcpu to throttle back when not needed ...
GPS issues, some have them some don't, mine, locks in about 30 seconds, and is down to under 10m accuracy.
Voice quality is great, much cleaner than the HD2 I had.
Compared to the Desire which is a good phone, the Screen makes the Galaxy S , a winner, not to mention the touch is super accurate.
Coming from the HD2 I could not say the screen is too big to use one handed ..
It is a very fast phone, it runs smooth with a lot of apps loaded, (on non stock firmware), and although FroYo is not out for it yet, should be coming soon.
Considering I can stand out in almost direct sunlight, and use the phone without squinting at the screen that is a big bonus.
The only thing I could say about the Vibrant variant, is it does feel almost cheap, since the battery cover is plastic, the phone is tough, but just feels too light to be that tough.
As far as contacts and messaging go, it works well, not sure I am thrilled with the TouchWiz, interface that is on top of them, but it works.
thanks for the response, i wont mind more of it.
Thanks

Apparently you didn't have enough time with iT.
Buggy os? You kept it stock huh? Mines running a leaked 2.2 and its fast as sh*t
Laggy? Really? Did you really say that? You kept it stock for sure.
Screen to big? How small are your hands? Oompa lumpa sized? Mine are tiny and I can write just fine with one.
Bad battery? Hell no. This easily lasts me 2 days on one charge before it dies. You just have to train it.

so wait, let me get this straight. What y'all android lovers are saying is that you traded one buggy, laggy OS that requires an unlock and custom ROM to fix, for another???
I tried to help a coworker with his and it is very laggy and had several force closes over about an hour of me playing with it. Several times I had to wait 10-15 seconds for the screen to become responsive again.

I never had one FC on stock ROM, Your "Buddy" must of fu**** with something.
So I went to look check my phone, and it slipped from my hand, tried grabbing it, Felt like slow-mo, and just missed it, and watched it fall into the deep fat fryer, So I then had to watch it cook for 4 mins at 240°C.
Obviously turn of the fryer, and tried to dig out with tongs.
The interesting thing is it still works! Tad greasy, absolutly EVERYTHING work, Apart from the speak, So its now useless as a phone :/
Is the speaker user replaceable?

well, that's a pretty interesting story, man.
do you mean the speaker is broken or the microphone? you'll probably be able to get it repaired by samsung assuming you have a warranty on it.
With respect, would you really trust a phone, even repaired that you DEEP FRIED for 4 minutes? Be lucky you can get your data off it and buy a new phone!

Hmmm deep fried Gingerbread...lol
In all honesty, funkyblue is right. Get what data/contacts you can (if not backed up to google) and get yourself a new phone. If your headset port isn't caked up with grease then maybe you can use it as a glorified MP3/music player.
How on earth did the battery not die?
Forget the speaker, I think the main thing we are all curious about is...do you eat a deep fried SGS with ketchup, or malt vinegar?
Post the pics
BAHAHAHAHA (sorry!), this is the funniest title since someone deep froze their sgs (iirc).
But as to your question, I wouldn't be surprised if the speaker is replacable, iirc its a modular component!
EDIT: wait, was it 454 or 240 degrees? Big difference
or you can keep it and use phone with bluetooth headset???
Pictures have now been added, Sorry for the delay!
The speaker is now working albeit very quietly, There is this greasy ring inside the camera when taking a picture, Guessing oil is trapped in there.

Oh I hate to hear this as you are a regular around here lately. Sounds to me like you OCd too much and fried your phone. I say that because of the many battery pulls you had to do all the time which is a symptom of OCing too high. Am I right on this or were you using a stock kernel?

Wow sounds like you had a bad phone then. Any chance you are still under warranty? If not well then if you can move on to something like the Nexus I would.
Ok, If you plug your phone into your PC you will probably see it recognized as a strange device, basically you have hard-bricked your phone and unless you have access to JTAG for your exhibit II and the ability to use it you are probably boned, It's rare for this to happen but it is the same kind of issue that occurs when pulling a battery during an OTA update.
Congrats, you won the Lotto.
Call T-mobile, tell them the phone won't turn on, don't resist and they will ask for your IMEI and all the related account info, you will be asked to ship your phone to them for a free replacement If you qualified under warranty still.

Yeah I feel your pain. It has been a one year war to get this thing to perform without freezing, rebooting and so on. It's fine if you use a GB ROM like RR or CM7 but I've gotten to rely on Google Now and don't want to give it up. Trying CM10.1 with PBE kernel for a few days. It froze up a bit today but I think much of the problem lies with Superuser which seems to be slow as Christmas at granting super permissions after booting. After switching to SuperSu, OCing to 1612 max (ondemand) with SIO things are running nice. SO FAR!!! Use to think SuperSu sucked but I'm starting to find out the truth.
This is kind of a last ditch effort. I have someone who's willing to buy it and if they decide to, that's all the excuse I need to get another phone. I don't think I'll get the Nexus though due to the fact it does not have expandable memory from what I can tell and even 16gb is not enough for me as I have a lot of music stored on my card.

Why try to improve an outdated os? Just because a phone was shipped with or never updated past gb doesn't mean it was only meant to run that os

Besides RR ofcourse which is also a nice ROM. An do believe Exquizit (sp) but recall there was a security problem? Not counting Peach in this simply cause as i believe Jocala put it "debloated stock".
Any how just wondering how fast and smooth GB could be with the right dev on the job.
I am no ordinary greenhorn, in fact, to be completely honest this is the first smart phone I have ever owned. Before this love affair began with my thrill 3D, I was partial to the cheap flip phones. So without further ado; I rooted her bricked her first by checkin out system tuner and seeing what would happen if I turned up a thing or two. When i woke in the morning jungle font stopped unexpectedly, so i pressed force close, it came back faster than i could pull my thumb away, after about a dozen or so times w/ the same result, I did what any sensible idiot comparable to uneducated stone would do and pulled the battery. She rebooted with no font. Factory reset, root again recover my beloved apps and data and then (again what any sensible idiot would and opened system tuner. in my defense, however i was only moving system files to sd not uninstalling them. 'ol thrill did not like that one bit and with a sudden burst of rage-full, maniacal, protest force closed files of all types, one super quickly right after another. it was a domino effect sort of thing. anyway, i tried the lg flash package steps several times to no avail, now it seems overwhelming. tomorrow i am dive right in to xda university deal i heard about, but in the mean time any help in getting my deeply missed thrill back on line would be appreciated so much more than most of you could imagine. i have a lot on plate and this couldn't have been a worse time for me kill my life line. Actually my friend, I'm in my late thirties with two little boys. I'm a single dad, with zero presence from their biological co-founder. I'm a carpenter by trade, hence the cheap flip phones in the past. In addition to work and kids, I did start going to college full time (I'm in my second semester) for child psychology in order to better understand the difference between my youngest (4) who is developing typically and my oldest (7) who is autistic. In the middle of wrestling an already obese schedule, I am smack dab in the middle of fighting with the school district because they are (in my opinion based on my careful observation) stuck in the process of teaching autistic kids how to be more autistic rather than how to be "human" like most of the rest of us. To recover my boy from his public-school-bootloop seems to be as equally perplexing as my phone. A seventh grade education over twenty years ago only goes so far. So there it is, while I love to write, I am far from a frat boy, where they get laid in bed, I only lay in bed Embarrassing really, but my sacrifice is/will be the root of all of my boys smiles. I don't have the money nor the desire to buy a new phone. I love my thrill! It is imperative that I get it back online ASAP. Unfortunately often times a picture in crayon is what I need when it comes to some things. If you guys can't or won't help me get it going I figure it out, I always do. But no matter what, I will have my thrill. P.S. Mad props for all you guy that have put the effort into XDA University and the slang terms thread, I admire people who give up their time and energy just for the sake of sharing what they know, for us "noobs" that kind of generosity is the only way learn about such alien concepts and processes as these. Like I said "I'm no ordinary greenhorn" Thanks again in advance, time is ticking and I'm not using a pay phone and refuse to get a flipper! Gotta run, good day all!!!!!!

I followed the instructions from an optimums thread by dark lestat, i tried four times. but absolutely nothing happened. Norton was a problem, fixed that. then found out what a com port was, let me ask anyway, that refers to the USB port right, and not communication port like maybe through a my firewall? i haven't tried a different USB cable yet cause i just found out about it tonite while i was looking for some answers. do i do anything with the kidz file? i would rather have a different ROM, what is the recovery manager for? and one more clarification, how do I know that it is working at the last step when i put the bat back in and connect the USB to my lap top? will it vibrate or screen flash or something. I am going to try again tomorrow. i learned a lot i didn't know today from xda u, so I don't feel so lost. I can build a house ,but droid recovery is a whole ball game! Thanks again Bigtech.
another Q
Does it matter which kdz file I choose, if so Which one should I use? I ended up with the official gingerbread cause it was the only link that worked.
use either v30b kdz of v28b kdz. they're both ics, which is, i believe much better than gingerbread
Any word if they got rid of the ghost call problem? And I am very surprised that ATT still cares about this phone considering they discontinued it like 5 months after they started to sell it

Hate the game Dog, not the playa:laugh: the xda new-membe- intro video made me do it! It said that you old pros are "lawn geezers" and we are the kids runnin across your front yard. I was simply getting into charector:} nah just kiddin, i did over do it a bit though huh won't happen again either cause you all are much more helpful when your not pissed.
OK I have not read your other posts. Install Smartflash instead and install the 2 drivers. Then flash XBSA's pretty rooted ROM with Smartflash.
Download XBSA's V7.2 ROM and flash it from recovery.

Just ran the ruu for 4.3 posted by OMJ. Took some effort but finally got it to work.
LED works for the charging light, but will not blink for notifications, no matter what options are checked, or unchecked, or re-checked. Still bone stock 4.3.
Any ideas?
Check out post #7

Nice!! Gotta keep the lady happy! Enjoy your Sunday...GoHawks
Learn a hard lesson, brother. I stopped hooking my wife up with custom ROMs and features two phones ago. I got REAL tired of going from 'hey phoneguru, get me this and that cool feature' to ' hey guru a**hole, fix my jacked up device that YOU somehow made screw up and blahblahblah'.........was happy as hell when she went to the iPhone, but then she came back to the GSIII.....
I gave her the iphone (which was second hand from my dad, to be used solely as an ipod by me) when her gs3 died and she couldnt stand it for even ten minutes! So like a bozo i said take my One until your upgrade. Stuck with iphone for six months now...ugh.
She so far hates the missing option of contact-specific text notifications. ::sigh:: I thought it was possible on sense, but i guess not?
