Z-RAM used for ????? - XPERIA X8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Im using IScreamDX ROM, but having no Idea about Z-Ram settings.
And default settings are 18%.
For what purpose these are being used.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZRam

to make it short it increases speed of the device dont know if battery drain is included

Overclocking - Necessary With WM6.1?

For those of you who have used cooked WM6.1 ROM's, have you had to overclock your Wizards? If so, by how much?
i use battery status and use the CPUScaler option for minimum i use 121 and for origional 195 max 195 but for boost 260 this in my opinion gives me the best battery life to speed ratio
, Sorry, but I haven't understood a single thing you said there... So is overclocking necessary to have a useable phone? Or best to stick with WM5.0 if you don't want to overclock...
overclocking is not neccesary, but it does give a significant speed boost in most ROMS, regardless if they are 6.1 or not
How does this effect the temperature of the CPU? Does it get significantly hotter & thus likely to burn out quicker...
as far as i can tell ive been using my phone for over a year and have found absolutly no problem with over clocking besides the extra battery drain
And what i was explaining b4 was the options i used on the overclocking program batterystatus theres an option called CPUScaler that allows u to variate the cpu speed this gives u the best of both worlds ie when ur using it for something heavy it will increase the cpu speed to the level u specify but when its not under heavy usage it will underclock (ie go to a slower cpu speed thereby decreasing the drain on ur battery).
And yes overclocking does give a significant boost to performance on any of the roms even wm5. Theres no harm in trying it so give it a try and you would see for yourself, if u dont like the way it works just uninstall the program and your done no problems and no long term effects.

[Q] Needs help with overclocking :)

Hey all 2X lovers!
Ive been thinking more and more of some overklocking here and Im running this ROM so I can overlock. Im running SetCPU for running different profiles and lovering CPU speed to save battery. I know it can overlock too with doing the setcpu.txt files but how do you increase voltage in the textfile?? Or can I run Pimp my Cpu at the same time as SetCPU without problem?
What speed/voltage is safe and draws not too much more battery??
And yesh Ive searched for this but didnt really found any good information..
I think use Pimp my Cpu only is better, it's because most x2' kernel developers suggested to use it.
I prefer stable rather than saving battery. If you having serious problem of battery drain, please wipe the battery stats while your battery is full(for make sure it's full, keep charging 2hrs after 100%)
Ok Ill look more into Pimp my CPU then
What speeds and voltages are you running? PMC suggests certain voltages at some overclocks, I assume you should follow them?

Losing 4% every hour even with screen turned off

It's very saddening but this is the case for me.
I have battery saver app installed but it doesn't help very much.
Is there any good power saving tips or perhaps a ROM really good for battery life?
can I replace my TP's battery?
What ROM are you using?
fat n-creamy CM10
1) check your wifi sleep settings and ensure it is set to off when not in use
2) set your minimum frequency to 192 instead of 384. However some people have seen SODs when set at this frequency
3) Use better battery stats to see if there any wakelocks.
I am getting around 0.5% using JCSullins 20121216 CM10 build.

zRam settings

just trying to squeeze some life out of the phone and i noticed i had this option disabled
the default is 18% according for 4.1.2, i'm just wondering if anyone here has experimented with different values?
i'm going to try 10% for now

I've tried using zRAM and to be honest you don't gain much from it. If at all, it'll slow down your phone because of the increased cpu usage needed to compress and decompress the data on the fly. The worst case scenario is that zRAM will decrease your battery life. What ROM are you using?
cm10.1
but yeah, after using it, i do notice that there are more 'mini lags' when i have it enabled
it's not worth it for only '10%' more ram

I think you mean CM 10 if your OS version is 4.1.2. CM 10.1 is Android 4.2. And to get you in the right direction, setting zRAM to 10% does not translate into 10% more RAM. It just reserves 10% of your usable RAM and compresses data that gets put into it. I think that zRAM would be very useful if this phone had a dual core processor. You should check "allow purging of assets" and "16bit transparency" to squeeze any life that's left out of this phone.

Your benchmark rank?

Share your benchmark rank here. And which rom, kennel, any mod/twick do u prefer use for the most perform & battery life?
Mine: benchmack 12562, i am using slimkat+F kennel + L speed. Its fast, smooth and good battery life for me
Sorry for my bad English
I have something about 1150 with quite good performance, but battery drain too fast. However, I could be problem that it was keept for a long time fully discharged
What mHz can you use without reboots?
I set at 1100 with i/o noob
How could you call me like that...?
On 1150, CM12.1, F-kernel and L-speed Ive got 1270 points. Before I used Fly-on mod, but L-speed seems to be better.
Ive try out Fly-on mod, L-speed & Skynet. For me, L-speed is the best. In Novathor, i set deepest sleep state is state 4, so battery isnt too much. And i always disabled KSM, it may cause battery drain. My benchmark points is between 12k - 12k5
Och, there is a new version of F-kernel - 1.6 and dev said that novathor doesn't work propertly so you have to do it manually. In /sys/... folder you can change deepsleep state.
