cwn flashing - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i am new to rooting and flashing etc.i have a completely rooted galaxy tab p1000(GSM version) running stock 2.2.the only problem is i tried flashing
cwm through odin and CF-Root,but odin always shows a fail and the device goes into soft brick state.i have unbricked the tab,but am i not able to flash cwm because i haave a locked bootloader(i have seen in many forums that say that 2.2 on the tab has a locked bootloader)should i try updating it to 2.3.3 through kies and then root it and then flash cwm through odin?.or should i use the overcome method??(please posta link of the instructions).
also which rom is better cm9 or aokp.
can i also follow the procedure given in the cyanogen mod wiki(pleaase google the link, xda wont allow me to post a link)

another victim of CWM flashing.
I keep repeating myself: Use OVERCOME method
it is 100% tested.
Sorry to point back to your own thread:

I had my reply there about overcome method that you can follow.
Let me know how it goes.

[Q] Noob Darky's ROM 10.2 flashing question

I am currently running a stock XXJVQ firmware with Galaxian 2.1 kernel installed. I have a few backups to it made in CWM.
My question is - if I try to flash Darky's ROM, will I lose CWM and all the backups I made to my previous ROM?
Also - it says that I should have lagfix turned on before trying to flash Darky's ROM. I used the CF tool to convert all my rfs memory to ext4. I suppose that's the same as a lagfix, meaning that I already have my lagfix turned on, right?

your nandroid backups will remain intact, and just use cf tool to convert back to lagfix disabled(all on rfs) and you should be set to go....remember to follow darkys instructions to the word and then you should have no problems....happy flashing
Hi there,
I have the stock JVQ flashed via odin from samfirmware, I would really like to use this rom. However, I was following the steps documented on this link which was successful (I reverted back to the rom on this page just to make things simpler, and to ensure that there wern't going to be any glitches):
http://www.darkyrom.com/community/index.php?threads/guide-installing-stock-rom-gt-i9000-only.486/
and then started to follow this:
http://www.darkyrom.com/community/i...rkys-rom-on-2-2-2-2-1-i9000-i9000m-only.1041/
However got to part 2, and the kernel flash didn't work (didn't get the dark core recovery part written on the recovery screen). So I clicked on the 'Alternate Method to Get Working Kernel' and the links dead!
Is there another method I can follow step by step, I currently have no root on the phone, but I can easily root using CF root if that helps, however previously I found no lagfix option! I'm completely a noob at this so any help would be appreciated...I want to try the rom that everybody's talking about
Many Thanks

If you flash 10.2 Resurrection Edition you don't have to worry about lagfix on or off!
It will give you a CLEAN, FAST phone.
From there you can install, tweak, modify to your hearts content!

As the above poster said, just flash Darky 10.2 RE instead. You can flash it with Odin regardless of the ROM you have before. Just follow the guide on this page:
http://www.darkyrom.com/community/index.php?threads/odin-darkyrom-10-2-resurrection-gt-i9000.4272/
does this rom work on m110s (korean I9000).. is there anyone who tested it?

Galaxy S wont boot

Hi guys,
i just got a Galaxy S (international, germany) and wanted to flash Clockwork Mod so i can flash a custom rom (miui). I got it with version 2.2 so i rooted it with z4root 1.3 and then tried RomManager to get CWM on it. But it did always reboot into Samsung stock recovery mode. So i tried this Odin3 1.7 and flashed a Kernel and got into a bootloop (First this one, then i used the one promoted in this video (YouTube Video, description XDA Thread with promoted Kernel. Phone now stuck at booting (isn`t even bootlooping, just stuck at the GALAXY S GT etc. logo. I still can reach the Download Mode.
Can anyone please help how to get at least the phone working again I`m really desperatly.
Greetings from Germany & Merry Christmas
Alch
Install a new Rom with odin will make your phone boot again.
2.2 is probably too old now.
Upgrade to Gingerbread Stock using Odin. Turn on Repartition and follow the instructions to flash.
Download a Custom Kernel for the Gingerbread firmware that you flashed. Every Kernel except the stock comes with CWM Recovery.
Copy the MIUI zip file to sdcard and flash it with recovery. It should boot right up.
If you are still having bootloops, try doing a factory reset and then boot MIUI.
Don't try things that you aren't experienced with.
Anyway, download odin 1.85, flash stock Froyo, launch Kies, update to official Gingerbread, launch Odin, flash Semaphore Kernel and GG.
Merry Christmas!
How can i flash Stock Froyo/Gingerbread trough Odin? Can`t find anything usefull @ google
btw i can reach Recovery Mode (CWM / Speedmonk something)
(Kinda experienced by flashing around with my N1 for around 2 years now, but never heard about this Odin Program)
thanks for help anyway

I am not going to help you with this one. You need to get comfortable with the forum and its contents first. Read all the guides and stickies before proceeding with Firmware flashing. There are many different types of firmwares with Bootloaders which are often dangerous to flash and few without bootloaders. Hence, first go through the guides and go with the flashing only when you are confident that you are doing everything in right order.

Just do what dhiru1602 says. after you flashed it with the latest Gingerbread ,
flash the cf-root kernel with odin . than download the latest galaxian/semaphore kernel, copy it to your internal sd-card and flash it with the app SGS Kernel Flasher . you can find that app on the market. good luck mate !
Thanks guys, u really saved christmas for me Just booted up the latest Miui Rom!
Happy Holidays

[Q] i9000 tried to flash CM9...kinda fsck'ed

[email protected],
after successfully flashing CM9 to my Defy I convinced my friend to go to ICS as well...so far so good/bad!
I followed the guide to install CMW recovery and did a backup of the stock ROM.
After this I copied CM9 nightly and the google apps package to the internal memory...apperantely the zip package of the google apps was bad, so i tried to boot into CM9..it took a damn long time, so I removed the battery (OK, bad move...but so be it don't bit*h about it!)..CM9 booted but said someting about "encryption of the storage failed..please do a factory wipe"......I did so, using CWM recovery...which ended me up in a boot loop without having access to CMW recvry.
So I thought, flashing the zImage again with heimdall will have the bootloader rewritten (maybe the 2nd bad move this day) so I can access recovery again...I imagined zImage was kinda like a BIOS of a PC...apparently it is NOT
After some google-f00 I found out I have to flash an official FW from samsung, with repartitioning, using odin, am I right?
But the probel is, that they tell me to do a *#7465625# to find out details about the stock firmware...but this is not bossible because the phone hangs at the galaxy s boot logo.
So my question is...what can I do to access either recovery or the stock firmware with a phone stuck at boot logo (i can boot into download mode) and having only a nandroid backup of the stock rom?
Can anybody tell me what to do without spending 200 coins to obtain another SGS for my friend (Yeah, I told him that the risk is to brick the SGS, but I have a kind of guilty conscience.
Hope someone can help...
Thanks a lot!
Odin doesnt care about whats currently on your phone . Just go to samfirmware. Com, find a nice stock rom (2.3.3) for i9000, and flash it with odin. If you dont know how to use odin: use the search button in the i9000 section ''how to use odin''. keep us updated / or if you have any other questions

hey
when i screwed my sgs, odin + darky ressurection rom helped
i can't post a link , google "Darkys_v9.2_Resurrection_Edition.zip" ,though i can't remember if i used that version. some got removed, try to look for a sourceforge link. That still works
and see the reply above how to use odin
Hey,
There are also lots of tutorials on youtube, and other sites to show how to flash an original rom. I also screwed up my install of CM9. And then I followed this guide to get the original rom running again.
w w w.theandroidsoul.com/download-install-xxjvs-firmware-update-galaxy-s-i9000-to-android-2-3-5/
After that, use this link for rooting + CWM:
w w w.theandroidsoul.com/root-xxjvs/
Greets from Holland !
PS: can't link -_- so you have to copy and paste the URL.

hmmm... i read from another site there are some custom rom that requires the phone to be in a rooted stock rom or another custom rom...
example:
to install Galaxy S GT I9000 with Orange Amestris v7.3 ROM Custom Firmware you need to be on stock XWJW1 or XXJVU Firmware since the baseband of "amestris" would be on xwjw1 or xxjvu or custom rom with the same baseband...
what stock rom/firmware the phone was in anyway?im guessing gingerbread stock rom? you still got a chance to update it right since you can access download mode...
from what i can remember, i updated my boyfrnd's s2 from gingerbread to official ics from "sammobile".com (remove quote)
then updated it to a custom rom...
well this might be irrelevant but this is how i updated my galaxy s:
well on my galaxy s i updated it from gingerbread stock rom rooted to gingerbread miui then to ics miui andy's version, since im on ics i have successfully tried different ics custom rom like darknight, slimics, elite etc...
hope this kinda help =]
Thanks a lot...I flashed the original firmware (it didn't start properly, but I don't care) and with this was able to flash the zImage again...then I was able to access bootloader and reinstall CM9

Soft bricked my GT-N7000

Previously i have been using SGS but recently just bought a new SGN but had problem rooting this phone.
I have successfully turned this into a brick (a soft one). I find that rooting a SGS is a breeze but not the SGN.
I have been following this thread in XDA http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360
, by dr ketan. Is this gonna work on a DXLP9 stocked version?
I am not sure whether i have missed out some steps in between.
Let's say i have another brand new SGN now, is anybody out here willing to give me a step by step guide on rooting and unrooting?
Thank you!
For step by step procedure
Follow this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1763151
Step 1 to 16
What is the current situation now?
Does the phone boot into recovery / download?
Where does the phone stop while rebooting?
Did you flash a stock ROM after your phone bricked?
I, too, soft bricked my GNote recently while trying to flash custom ICS ROMs. Realised that I missed, or misread a step that caused the soft brick. All that was needed was to reflash using a PC Odin and the GNote was back in business

I use lp9 before and i root it by using that method. Put the CWM zip in the external sd and also the rooting zip. Go to stock recovery and there is update zip ext sd there use it to flash CWM zip, after this it will become touch CWM recovery, use your finger and flash the rooting zip.
i'm in a similar position. After an unsuccessful flashing attempt ny note is stuck at the boot screen. I've spent hours reading and attempting to get it working again but i'm now at a dead end. If i follow the Dr Ketan method to flash back to stock GB through ODIN etc, it all goes well but the note doesnt boot beyond the initial galaxy note splash screen.
when trying a stock ics rom, again the process goes through with no problem but the phone doesn't boot (this time one step further) beyond the Samsung logo/jingle.
i've tried wiping/removing batteries etc after the stock rom install but can't seem to get it on it's feet. Does anyone have any ideas of soemthing i can try?.
If it's bricked due to the emmc bug is there some way i can determine this for sure?. does anyone know how much samsung will charge to sort it out?. My custom binary count is 4 now so i'm assuming i can't blag a warranty repair?
please help!
If nothing works, try the repartition method on this thread's 12th post by forest http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1661590 If any sector has gone bad, recreating a partition will throw up an error.
To reset the binary counter, there is this angelom kernel. Along with the angelom kernel, keep a stock kernel handy.
Flash angelom kernel first.
Once done, reboot into angelom's recovery.
Do not do anything else.
Reboot again to download mode and check the binary counter.
If its not reset, again boot into recovery.
Reboot into download to check the counter.
Once reset, flash a stock kernel.
Do not stay on angelom kernel. In its time it was known to cause hard bricks.
You should now be able to claim warranty : )
Warranty Claim
I reset the triangle and the flash counter via a USB jig using this method and successfully got a warranty claim from Samsung, the stock Rom now is DXLR2.

Now i have to figure out how to do rooting again.
Please no more mistakes this time.

Need some HELP, bootloop

Hi all
first, i'm not completely noob for rooting and flashing, but appears that for samsung i'm more than a noob.
so, here is the problem, i tried to root friends galaxy s and succeed it with UnlockRoot. Thaen i tried to flash CWM with THIS tutorial. Everything went as described, only i didn't read the first line of tutorial, that is for the phones with android 2.3 or higher, and this one had android 2.2 on it....
Now it won't boot, can't enter recovery, only in download mode....
I did some searching but i don't understand half of it. (if this was a HTC i would solve this)
Can someone tell me what to do? )
I guess you're on wrong cwm recovery file.Mine went like that too..Never knew it was for GingerBread but my phone were ICS,The phone wont boot. Then i did it it again with CWM for ICS and everything works again.Atleast your phone still can make it thru via download mode tho..
maybe you could try something from this and this and this one

If your phone is on 2.2 version, upgrade it to 2.36 version, by flashing a 2.36 Firmware for your location from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1102881 or flashing a rescue kit from My Android Collection ( link below) , after that Flash any of this on Odin as PDA for rooting and also have CWM at the same time.
