Hello ppl im a "proud" owner of p990
After long suffering on stock rom 2.3.4 (biggest problem was ofc gps which would lock onto satelites almost never) i decided to try custom rom see if that would help.So i rooted the phone, instaled rom manager, made a backup of stock rom on to internal sdcard, downloaded cm7.2 stable and instaled with google aps 2.3 (deleted data and dalvik cache).First boot went well IGO menaged to lock pretty fast onto satelites (indoors) and that was about it...after shuting down phone and starting it again igo couldnt lock onto satelites(yes i did leave gps on when i rebooted phone),gps toolbox would help sometimes...but overall gps was still pretty much useless(even when gps menaged to get a lock it would lose it after a while).Dont get me wrong i like cm7 its pretty fast didnt find any bugs except randomly loosing mobile operator signal strenght.I decided to go back to stock rom because i gained nothing by switching to custom rom(lost tegra, gsm network signal strenght stability, gps still bad). Now the fun part starts I booted the phone into cm recovery deleted cache, data, dalvik and clicked restore which ofc was empty because cm recovery was showing my external sd card(and rom manager backed up my rom onto internal) thankfully i created a second backup by copying entire backup folder to pc so now i menaged to mount usb driver and copy backup from pc to external card so cm recovery could see it.It worked.I got message all is done and rebooted the phone.Got lg logo then black screen then lg logo black screen to infinity...i panicked for few sec then realised i still have cm recovery instaled so i downloaded cm 7.2 on pc transfered to ext sdcard and flashed again.Phone was alive again:victory:
Started folowing instructions on xda how to flash back to stock rom and got stuck on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1035041
because ofc Serbia(that where im from) is not on the list.So basicaly after this long post i have two short questions
1. Is it safe to flash with euro open BIN_LGP990AT-00-V20q-EUR-XX-JAN-24-2012-0 rom?
2.Is there anyway i can use the original stock rom backup i made?
Best regards,

check in the developers section for "back to EXT3", flash it and then flash a custom stock based ROM. DONT FORGET TO BACKUP ALL USER DATA....flashing backtoEXT3 will wipe the data. CM 7 and Stock dont use the same file format.never recover system information from CM7 to Stock or vice versa.
Hope it helps.

LG optimus 2x p990 stuck in bootloop
Deal All,
i am new to XDA and having issue with my LG O2x.
I had manged to upgrade LG O2x on ICS and it was running fine, but last Saturday i tried to check update via LG update tool, it says update available, when respective file download completed, O2x started in boot-loop.
I am not able to figure out what went wrong and how to solve it ?
As i was not prepared all so no backup of ROM, no developer mode ON and top of that i am not able to get into recovery mode by precessing volume down + Power button.
i can only enter in software upgrade mode, can anyone help me out ?
Thanks in advance !

From what I see here, we are missing one thread for starters, to keep basic informations in one place. Yeah, it's all here (and on MoDaCo forum) but to find everything there is to know... pffft. A lot of searching and zillion tabs opened - there is a thread for everything, but scattered around. So, here is what I did with my Optimus, all in one place (SD card recommended for some steps) guide wanna-be:
1. install alternative launcher (ADW, GO Launcher, LauncherPro... search for reviews, try them out)
2. get root with SuperOneClick
3. install ClockworkMod Recovery because there is no other way to apply patches, updates or flash custom ROM's, and it's easy to make backup and restore too (system only, before some critical flashing I would suggest to create backup of internal memory or you could lose everything, like photos, music etc.)
4. from recovery install Paul's patches (copy zip file to phone/SD, shut down, boot to recovery with *hold power and vol- buttons*, select flash zip, reboot):
Stock Performance Pack
Stock Patch Pack - AOSP style lockscreen
there is also Stock Fix Pack - Camera with brightness fix + silent camcorder but looks like I don't need it
5. freeze and/or uninstall some of LG's apps like in this thread here. Most important ones I guess would be F-secure, LG Home (you have alternative one, right?), Car, and SNS.
Phone works like a charm . There are also custom ROM's that you could flash through ClockworkMod. While I flashed the hell out of my previous phone, I'm still on stock so no advices in that direction but it is really easy. Just be careful with wiping - everything on internal memory could be lost.
Also, tried to theme it using http://uot.dakra.lt/ but that didn't work well - got stuck on LG boot logo and phone was dead, nandroid restore didn't help. I downloaded a custom ROM (what the heck, stock one was destroyed anyway) but even flashing new ROM from recovery didn't help. There are few threads that go there and this is my humble guide how to fix this but remember - THIS WIPES INTERNAL MEMORY - and I learned it the hard way:
1. download stock ROM (Firmware) from LG Optimus 2x P990 Original ROM's, in my case it was BIN_LGP990AT-00-V10c-EUR-XX-APR-16-2011+0 (Euro open), unzip it
2. download SmartFlash from this thread on MoDaCo forum (just SmartFlash and drivers, baseband is not covered here) and follow instructions. Only difference is that you DON'T flash "fls", it is baseband. Other one, that big, fat .bin file (LGP990AT-00-V10c-EUR-XX-APR-16-2011+0_AP.bin) is the one needed
This is it, after 2-3 minutes Optimus wakes up and works again, completely stock, clean and un-rooted. If you had nandroid backup (from recovery) and it still is on your SD card, after rooting and installing ClockworkMod again you can apply it and OS will be the same as it was. Except for everything that was on internal memory.
Of course, I take no responsibility if anything of this breaks your phone
If you have some advices, please write.
Also, if someone could tell me how to get wifi auto reconnecting after sleep or coming back in range, that would be awesome.
Ok, wifi sorted!
My baseband was rather old, version 405. So I flashed baseband 622 with RIL from here: [Baseband+RIL] 1035.21_20110622 (latest at the moment)
Click on MoDaCo forum link for instructions. Create nandroid backup in recovery first, OS was reverted to original and internal memory wasn't wiped, but did complete backup anyway.
RIL is in zip file, so it's obvious - flash it from recovery after baseband is done.
After nandroid restore had to apply Paul's patches again and that was it
Now wifi reconnects, 3G seems like is waking up faster. Still to early to comment on battery life but for now I'm satisfied
edit: for some reason, maybe the problem was with WiFinder app and not baseband. Strange. Switched to WiFi Manager
Trying to install the Cynogen ICS ROM, and when installing the .zip, it loads the Samsung flash screen with Cynogen, then get the green guy and loads of text for about half a second, then it just reboots. Over and over for about 10 mins. WHat went wrong? What should I do?
It happend the same to me.
I just removed the battery and put it back, entered in CWM and reinstalled the ROM.
Good luck!
I somehow got into a recovery mode, but with the assumption it would all go wrong again, tried to install the .zip Darky rom instead, went through the process and said it worked but then it just went back to the Cynogen loop problem!? I just tried a Restore instead, but I haven't rebooted yet, should I wipe everything again, and try the ICM .zip again?
Yep, just go with the whipe. I hope you did a backup.
OK turns out the Restore failed, so now trying to reinstall ICS .zip again. fingers crossed!
yep backed it up, not that its seems to have helped.
Well now it's stuck in the Galaxy S bootscreen...
that really sucks....did you deactivated the lagfix before running the rom?
If the problem persists you have to run a basic ROM using ODIN.
Yes deactivated the lagfixI can't get into recovery or anything now, except download mode.
Download mode is all you need to run a ROM with Odin.
I recommend Amestris, it is a good ROM, good battery life but the thread in not complete, there are some files missing...for now.
I've put some older ROM on I had, then tried to install ICS again but now when I use Clockwork, and select the file it goes to recovery but I can't select any zip files, just reboot back to this awful old ROM!
I had same issue when I installed ics, what I did that worked was pull battery and go back into cwm, reflashed ics zip and it fully installed that time. Had same experience when flashing cm7 before.
Not getting anywhere with this. I get an option to install zip from sdcard which is where the update is (an where the darky update also is which worked), but there is an option to update from internal SD, which is not where the file is. Is it in the wrong place?
I think you would be best to use Odin 1.3 to flash DarkyROM Ficeto JVT base rom.
are you sure those files are still on your sd card?
The reason you need to pull the battery and reflash the ICS rom a few times is because Samsung ROM (most) have a different partition layout to CM7 based roms (which the ICS port is one).
GL.
So today my phone was on and everything was fine, then while I was charging it, went away from it a few minutes then came back it was on the boot menu. It now can not get past the boot menu ever.
I have ClockWork Mod recovery installed, and CM7.1 stable.
I did a "backup" via the ClockWork Mod Recovery of the system.
I am also quite tempted to get the CM9 RC2 installed. But screw it if it any kind of unstable. CM7.1 stable is unstable enough.
What should I do? I would prefer it if I did not lose all my stuff (like app notes etc).
Can I like just put my phone into Download Mode, place the CM9 RC2 on the root folder, then do the good old

If you have done a "backup" from CWM before the failure just restore that.
From CWM menu try to do a dalvic and cache clean up. also clear init.d and nstool settings and try to reboot
If you want to be more adventurus and loose your contacts, sms, settings...and other stuff from CWM do full wipe and cache and dalvic and then install your favorite rom.
I tried to installthe Gnexus port rom jr03l 4.1.1 rc 10. I was on TAJB'S Jellybean rom with devil kernel. I tried to install the rom as per the instructions given. I did a nandroid backup of the current rom before attempting to do so. The flash failed as the phone rebooted into recovery after a few minutes. I tried to restore from my nandroid backup. That failed too and it came up with a message of "no free space". I rebooted the phone and the phone automatically tried to flash the gnexus port rom again. It failed rebooted and got stuck on the devil kernel screen.
After about 20 mins, i took the battery out and rebooted into recovery. I really dont know where to go from here. I need to backup my efs folder too somehow.
I have a flash zip of the gnexus port rom, the tajb rom and a cm9 nightly in my internal sd card. I also have a nandroid backup of my cm9 rom.
Any help will be greatlyy appreciated!!!
Please help me.

Hi,
I flashed my GT-i9000 (Firmware was Gingerbread BUJVY) using CF Root (CF-Root-XW_NEE_JVH-v3.2-CWM3RFS.tar) through ODIN.
All worked fine and I was able to boot into Recovery using the regular Volume Up+Home+Power.
I then proceeded to flash CM10 nightly (23/9/12) (from my external Micro SD card) by wiping data, wiping cache and wiping Dalvik Cache.
I then navigated to the zip file for CM10 and run it. It started ok then qiuckly the phone rebooted and rebooted into a newer version of CWM (6.0.1.4).
From here I cannot do anything at all!! It won't recognise my Micro SD now to even run the installation again
I'm hoping someone may be able to help, I would really appreciate it!
TIA!

Do you know what version is your Firmware? is it 2.3.3 or 2.3.6?, IF its 2.3.3 your boot loader needs to be updated to 2.3.6 for you use , If its already 2.3.6, than you should be able to use CWM recovery to reinstall the CM 10 from your SD card. (But by doing this you may lose your IMEI as you should do a progressive upgrade , like from GB 2.3.6>ICS CM9>JB) or flash a semaphore JB kernel
Easiest way out would be for you to use a JVU ROM to recover, safe your EFS, than proceed to CM 9 and than to CM 10...
you can get a rescue kit or JVU+CFRoot from My Android Collections and or a solution from My Android Solutions
Hi there,
I was on Gingerbread 2.3.6 before I ran the above.
I have gotten a bit further than the above. I managed to mount the phone as a USB whilst in CWM and put the CM10 zip file on the actual phone memory. I then wiped data/cache/dalvik and rerun the install. It installed but didn’t reboot itself, so I rebooted manually and then the Cyanogenmod logo started up and it booted into CM10. Looked ok apart from the Home Button didn’t work!!
Do you think I should still run the above??
Rooting this phone and flashing ROMS is more difficult than my Galaxy S3!!
Cheers

Since you are already on CM 10, you need to solve your home button problem, try doing a wipe in recovery, if fails, flash again the CM 10
Hmmm, it didn’t work.
What I’ve done since though is try to flash another ROM.
I’ve flashed the ‘xBean’ ROM with success, however, I did encounter the exact same problem when flashing the ROM as mentioned above
I wiped data/cache/dalvik and run the install for xBean. It stopped after the first install attempt and rebooted itself, however it just brought me back to the CWM screen (although this time different from the CM CWM).
So I wiped data/cache/dalvik, then run the install again. This time it went through the full install but again (like with CM) it didn’t rebooted automatically. I manually rebooted and then the xBean logo came up and booted in.
This time the home button is working, and pretty much everything else is too by the looks of it. So far so good!
I guess my question would be, why does the ‘ghost installs’ keep happening???
Updated 4.25.13
the solution is very simple.just format the sd card and everything should be fine.thanks for everyone who helped me
Hi guys
this is my first post and I hope you guys can help me,I already searched the forum for similar problem but no luck
I installed Ultimate_N7000_LSZ_JB_4.1.2_v5.2 ROM and it was perfect for the 1st day then I realized that my phone keep restarting on its own when the screen is off, sometimes at 30 mins interval or even more.the phone don't show the boot screens.the screen will always be off when this happens.I also noticed that this doesn't happen when my phone is charging
another problem I'm facing is at times when i try to unlock my phone it stays black for a while until it can respond
a third problem is when I unlock my phone it will show in the status bar the message "sd card was removed unexpectedly" and then say "preparing sd card" .then it won't show the contents either in the gallery or the music player but I can still access them from file explorer
sometimes when it restarts i get a code on the status bar instead of the service provider (pic provided)
before I installed this Rom I was on official JB UAE version which I flashed using Odin and then I rooted my phone using PhilZ-cwm6-JPLSB-UAE-4.89.4
I wiped everything before installing it,Full wipe /data/factory reset /cache and dalvik.Format /data /system and /preload
please help me urgently
test with the SD card removed.. also try another battery... the code could be the code of the provider and name not being displayed.. if all ok go back to stock rom after all wipes and formats and test again

before I installed this ROM I had no problem at all.the only problem I had was draining battery and wakelocks
I'll try using it without the sd card
but what about the restarts???????
not sure. i have used that rom for a while and didnot face that problem.. are yu sure you did not have that restart issue when on stock rom? try flashing another rom will check if the downloaded rom has issues or not..
I'm sorry but I'm new to all of this.this is my 1st ROM ever
so I can flash any official JB ROM through Odin on top of this custom ROM after wiping everything? and then install the custom ROM again?

Yes. After flashing the stock rom, you will need to root it and get CWM. best will be to flash Philz kernel to root it.. then you can get back to custom rom again..
before you flash the stock rom boot into recovery (Philz recovery)
- Choose Wipe Data > Clean before install a new rom. (this will clean the rom. and phone will not boot after this step as there will be no rom)
- Advanced > reboot download > connect to pc and use odin to flash the rom

so if i flash an official Rom i'll lose the root?
does it matter what official JB ROM i use?
should I use the same Philz Kernel I used before to root the phone?or there is a better version?
Yes after flashing using odin you will loose root. Flash Philz kernel for JB close to the rom you installed like DDLSC or XXLSZ
The reason for your problems could be a defective sd card. Does the error persist without the card?

Seems like ur sd card is dead. You can also try a clean install of the new rom LT4 since it is a bit better than all the previous crappy jb release =)
thank you guys
I removed my sd card since yesterday, and since then everything is fine.no restarts or battery drainage.the ROM works like a charm
I'll try to format it and see what happens. unless it's corrupt for good
I really appreciate ur help.big thanks :good:
Thanks again for ur great help
the problem is completely solved,I formatted my sd card and everything is working fine.the ROM is awesome.better battery life and very smooth
THANKS
