High quality or not, $20 is indeed pretty steep for a TPU. I could get a leather case with sleep/wake functions and a stand built in for $10 off eBay.
Should have been $10, or at a max $12.
I have a bunch of these for my gnex and they're awesome, but for 20$, hell no.

I have 7 of the androidified cases for my gnex and gnote... They are very high quality and well worth the money, imo. The asus case is $20 and that thing is not only ugly but made of rubber, yet people are buying them, and there isn't even a wake feature! You're getting 3 cases for $40, thats what? $13 a piece? Sounds like a bargin to me

Just bought my N7 from GameStop yesterday and they had the official Google one there for $30, I went home to look back at the Cruiserlite case I had saved to buy when I got the N7 and saved $10.... If $20 is too much for you, get a cheapy TPU case, but this thing looks much nicer IMO, and besides, with $60 in game trades and $180 in store credit from swapping out an XBOX 360, this tablet only cost me $30 anyways....

The cruzerlite cases are not your typical "run of the mill" tpu that you would buy on ebay for $5, they are high quality tpu, best I've ever seen or used.

Different colors for different moods. I have 4 of the androidified case for my GNex and 3 for my GNote, all the same case but different colors.

I've been buying cases from cruzer lite for some time now and I can't think of one case they have that is rubberized.....they have all been the traditional tpu, afaik. The "persona of Andy" cases are a little "softer" than the androidified cases, but still of the hard tpu.

Yeah, they look good alright. I wish there were more N7 cases available because I don;t know if I want to spend this much $$ on a case, but with the lack of options I just may. Their Ipad cases have the smart cover feature so I hope these cases do as well.
Edit: I just contacted TreeGloo and this case will also be a smart case. I'm scalping some concert tickets so I can justify spend 20% of the tablet cost on a case though but I really like the fact that the case looks like an old book cover.

I bought my (now 5 year old) daughter a Lenovo tablet for christmas last year. It has held up well with just a rubber case. TPU maybe? I am not sure of the exact material, but it feels like rubber.
I think the N7 would be kid proof with that type of case, a screen protector... and some firm rules about the use of the device

I saw this but i dont think its thick enough, my 2.5 year old is an oaf. the best way to describe him is; remember the cartoons where that big monster guy runs through a wall and leaves a hole in the wall in the shape of said character, well thats what my son is like.
I'd wait for otterbox to come out with something. I've got one on an iPad (perfect for kids and old people) for my 3 kids and the thing is bomb proof. I couldn't use anything that bulky myself but its the only way to for kids IMO.

I have purchased a Nexus 7 as Christmas gift for my Family to use. I want to set it up and have my kids (4 year old twins, and 2 year old) be able to use it with "minimal" supervision. Much of the process is account setup and "sandboxing" what they have access to, the other part is protecting the hardware. I have purchased a screen protector to help prevent scratches, now I need to find a case with good protection that doesn't cost too much.
I'd like to keep the cost under $40. So far I have found:
BobjGear Rugged Case: REVIEW | $19 at Amazon
Poetic Revolution Case: REVIEW and HERE | $29 at Amazon
Seidio Active Case: REVIEW | $35 for case only and $45 with cover at Seidio -- slightly too high
I like the bright colors of the Bobj, for kids plus makes it easier to see if it was "misplaced"
I feel the Poetic case provides the best protection with built in screen protector and port covers (keeping things out of ports that shouldn't be there), this is the one I am most interested in and wish Poetic had other colors.
Seidio, I don't see anything it offers over the Poetic other than red, white, or blue options.
I'm aware of Gumdrop and Otterbox, but prices are too high for my taste; I'm not convinced they would provide better protection compared to the ones above.
Any options I'm missing?
I have a gumdrop case, makes it feel pretty solid, has a clear plastic screen protector and a 2 stage casing.

I want a really nice tight and tactile skin for my N7.
When I first got my iPad 1 I bought a Rocketfish skin that was just perfect for it. Nice rough back so it was easy to hold and nice and tight.
Looking around I can't see many good skins at the moment for the N7. They all have smooth rubber and some comments off amazon say they are flabby.
I've looked on Amazon UK and USA. Is there anywhere else I should be looking?

Well I bought a Gel skin for £4 off ebay but as you think eBay is full of cowboys you don't want to know.
I also got a neoprene slip cover for a couple of quid including postage and a cool as feck tablet stand for just two quid.
But as you think eBay is full of cowboys you don't want to know

I bought one of these for £4.35 inc postage.
It's probably not the best in the world but I haven't tried them all so I can't be sure.
It's a very good fit.
It does make the Nexus easier to hold, much more grippy.
Holding it by the case now means I can't feel the slight screen raise on the left.
It does protect the back of the device and I can now put it down anywhere without worrying the back will be scratched.
It only cost me £4.35 and it is doing a good job of protecting the N7 for now.

I also bought a S-line TPU case in black for $8 and it fits perfectly! Very tight and form fitted, while barely adding any bulk/mass to the device. It's very good looking in black as well, gives the nexus a murdered out look. I'm also using a Timbuk2 Cush Kindle Fire sleeve along with the TPU case for maximum protection while travelling in a very slim package. Highly recommended!

Murdered is a term from the car/tuner industry, usually meaning completely blacked out. It looks "murdered" because the tpu case covers the silver bezel and makes the entire device black.

I agree, looks better than stock and the added grip does make it easier to handle. As for the vette, they've always been able go round corners, you just need to be a godlike driver to go fast without snap oversteering and stuffing it in a wall

I've not bought any but i've seen a couple and i just find the leather look dated! plus some of the designs add too much bulk imo!
I was hoping for more of an iPad smart cover look but i suspect Asus and Google didn't fancy a law suit!
Yea, I have done my fair share of searching. I just want something to protect my tablet on the go, a pouch is great for that. No zippers, metal/rough edges, just neoprene .
Just ordered it. should get it next week!

Arrived today!
This pouch is great, has space of accessories (e.g. my OTG cable and headphones) and it fits really well.
the flap at the top is a bit tight to undo as you have to turn it inside out but that will loosen up over time. overall i'm pretty impressed, hopefully the images i've attached will be of some use

got mine today, looks great, i hope it will endure the foldings you have to do to open/close it.
I've got a Cruzerlite case on mine and wondered how easy it would be to insert / remove from a neoprene case - anyone have any experience with a case? I like this one, but saw some really cheapy ones similar to it on eBay for A DOLLAR, SHIPPED:

What makes this worth $20 compared to the dollar neoprene case? I'm not being harsh, there were people on the Cruzerlite thread saying the same thing about $5 TPU cases and the Cruzerlite not being worth $20, but I liked the Android Clone Army on it, okay, so there.... Just want to know why I should go with this before I spend the money, I like the second pouch on the inside, but if you're not planning on bringing cables with you, is it worth it?

As for the reason that this sleeve is different from other cheap ones, as mentioned in the first post: The sleeve has an extra layer on the inside to store accessories.
Cables, headphones, OTG cables, memory cards, etc...
I would definitely buy other cheaper ones if there were any out there. But it is the only one I found with such a feature. Just thought I'd share .

Just too tight to get pocket flap back over N7.
I worried either screen would crack or sleeve would tear - it was that tight.

It is definitely NOT that tight.... I have a TPU style case on mine and it isn't nearly tight enough for me to be worried about cracking screens or tearing the neoprene case - no need to worry, you aren't buying from some cheapy manufacturer, if something tore on it, I'm certain Amzer would replace it
Mine definitely WAS that tight - tired pulling it different ways, setting device in front of or back of seams, etc - tried pulling on angle cuts, pushing in depth first, etc - mine was TOO tight after many tries, sent back.
Haven't seen a thread on this yet, so here is another Nexus 7 slim case on Ebay.
It is different from the other Ebay Apple-like case.

Price at 19.99 is a bit steeper than other Ebay cases,
and its pictures do not show if we can fold the cover all the way back or if it's a Smart cover or not.
But I like its look, probably will wait to see other sellers posting the same one with more pictures and detailed description.
To be honest, that does look like one of the better looking cases on eBay. If you guys want, I can take it for the tram and review it when I get it? Hopefully by the end of this week.

Its "Pu Leather" which is short for poly synthetic leather. As in, its a cheap less durable leather covering some piece of cardboard or something.
In fact, some countries like New Zeland and UK have banned the sale or use of "leather" for products with this type.
But I'll update you guys once I get this case.

Looks like a really nice case, but after reading this I might keep waiting... Waiting for a perfect slim case to be released before I buy one!
I bought one too, I'll take some pics when I get it in as well. I'll probably get this one from China before I get my darn Portenzo case lol.
I ordered one of these about a week ago, still waiting on delivery but will post my views on it when it arrives.
It looks like it arrived at the San Francisco post office, which is only 50 miles away so I may get my case tomorrow. If I do I'll post pics and my impression :good:
